Girl I’ve been meaning to send you asks about dad!Lando but I always fear I’ll get too annoying about it eventually lmao
BUT im curious, I can’t remember if you’ve ever mentioned the situation with Emma’s mom? How did he find out about Emma? What did he think about it? Was he there when she was born? Etc etc. (aka whatever headcanons you have on this I’d love to hear about them)
It seems as though she’s not present in their life so im also curious how those early days went with Emma as a newborn.
I can imagine Lando would have been quite an overwhelmed new parent (especially as a single parent) but I can also see Max showing up day after day to check in on them. Spending nights to help when lando is exhausted (bc that newborn stage is basically no sleep always). It makes Emma and Max’s relationship make so much sense and really shows why they are so close as she grows up bc he has literally been there from the beginning.
Also fully laughing at the thought of Max basically learning how to be a parent/take care of a kid through Lando’s daughter. Like if bro ever has his own kids someday he will be FULLY prepared. (Diapers, feeding, putting to sleep, etc) (I’m laughing but I’m also utterly endeared by the thought of it)
Anyways I could literally go on you have no idea how often I think of this WIP. If you ever want more to talk about lmk I have so much to say lmao
-og
i just need you to know that this ask sent SIX times and i saw the notifs on my inbox and was like "wtf did i do to warrant this rn???"
anyway! you are literally never annoying, like i looooove yapping about dad lando... i love it.
but yeah, emma's mum is indeed not around. without revealing too much of it (this lore is mostly covered in... the first half? the biggest 'emma's mum' passage i think is in chapter 8 out of 16, but there's bits of it before then too), she just hasn't really been a part of either lando or emma's lives in quite awhile by the time the fic starts. but she does haunt the narrative, at least for the first bits.
emma's mum AND early infant emma days are referenced a lot in fic bc yeah, lando spent a lot of the first ~year very overwhelmed. and that informs his character AND his development in the fic a lot. he was 21 when emma was born, and she was for sure an accident baby, so he definitely wasn't thrilled at the prospect of being a parent, nor was he prepared. (more on that in the fic too. i'm so sorry i'm teasing it all and then making you wait to find out until i publish this god knows when...)
finally, re: max, he was definitely around a lot for lando when emma was young. if not always in person (bc international travel for his racing career), then definitely always as moral support. he's been part of emma's life for literally the entire thing, like emma does not know a life without him. it's literally daddy and nan and grandpa and max, and that's her family in her brain. there's a bunch of times in the fic i reference the early days of her life like... lando calling max at 3am because emma wouldn't stop crying. or max talking lando through it when lando was panicking about failing as a parent. he is very, very, very much a part of their family dynamic, and he knows both of them and their situation very well. maxf the glue that holds this fic together fr fr, as i have said 1000 times. that's my little guy.
i actually have about a billion headcanons about infant emma and new-dad-lando. like so many that i've entertained writing a prequel to dad lando with like.... the first time max met emma. emma's first steps. there's a period of time where lando and emma basically lived with his parents, and that time also compels me because people know how i feel about the norris family. lando is so, so, so well-loved in real life, and i tried to translate as much of that as possible to this fic and to emma, because i know that everybody who loves lando would automatically adore emma too. she's part of him. packaged deal. that's MY family atp lmao.
im going around and asking a shit ton of my moots what I remind them of (wether it be a person or thing or anything)
You remind me of a few things, I shall not elaborate as I dont know why you remind me of these things. All I know is that you give off this vibe when I think of you, now I shall begin. You remind me of Tommyinnit, Jack Manifold, Britney Spears head shave era, silly string, confetti popper thingy (idk what its called), the color brown and pastel green, milk chocolate, hot dogs, ladybugs, the song/s "Rock And Roll All Nite" by KISS, "Orpheus Under the Influence" by Buttertones, and "1985" by Bowling For Soup, and you remind me of jiggly cake, pepperoni and sausage pizza, Dr. Pepper, Orange Fanta, the movie/show 'Home Alone', 'Jerry Springer', 'Peppa Pig', 'Drake and Josh' and you also remind me of Waddles the Pig. Ok that's all I could think of rn huehuehue
After realizing how much you missed your hometown, working an upwards 8 figure job and being stuck in Wydon for months, you decide to ride back to Wedgehurst for a holiday visit. Although, along the way, you meet up with your old Gym-Challenge fling Hop, who is unreasonably clumsy but can make a mean cup of cocoa.
You strolled down the frosty streets of Wydon, a blissful look on your face as you pulled your luggage behind you. Bright billboards all showed the typical ads of the holidays, Wooloo with cute santa hats and Glaceon among other ice types snuggling to a model with a typical Christmas outfit. The streets were also filled with window shoppers, enamoring at gaudy clothing articles or any other item put in flashy displays.
You were on your way to the station, off to Wedgehurst for a seasonal visit to your hometown to accomodate for how busy you’d been with your work in the past few months. You weren’t the champion, nor a gym leader, but still your work kept you as busy as a Combee. But this trip had you excited, a skip in your step as you passed by the vendors. Honestly, you had to plan the ride weeks in advance, just with how busy the monorail business got around this time of year.
Just around the corner was the plaza, the large stone fountain with the Corviknight, Corvisquire, and Rookidee statues leading you to your destination. Wyndon station, it’s sign and overall exterior decorated with ornaments and ribbons- just what you’d expect. Honestly, you couldn’t help but smile at the sight, just knowing how happy everyone got in Galar in winter.
You entered, pushing a hand through the front of your hair, as a bit of snow had fallen and gotten on you. Although it was fine, snow was just common really wherever you went in the north.
“Where are you headed today?” A monorail attendant asked, flashing you a soft smile before clicking away on a computer.
“I’m off to Wedgehurst.” You smiled, handing the woman the ticket as you waited for her to register.
She then nodded, “Happy holidays.”
“Same to you.” You then boarded the monorail, dragging your luggage to sit in a small booth near the back, setting your suitcase right next to you. You patiently waited for everyone else to board, looking out the window at the interior of Wydon Station. Just as cheery as the outside, with a complimentary christmas tree and christmas lights strewn all across the place.
“The monorail from Wydon Station will now be heading off.” A sharp ding sounded the departure, and you watched as the landscape turned from bustling metropolis to quiet forest, the land covered in a blanket of frost. The forest was quiet, tranquil. Pokemon ran about, snuggling and playing as if they too enjoyed the season.
It wasn’t long before you found yourself lost, watching the rolling hills and various towns that faded in and out as the almost 6 hour ride continued on and on. The little jingle that played as the ride continued was also very jolly, the typical ringing of bells, violin strums, piano keys and wonderful humming cues. However, another trill sound of unboarding sounded, and a voice boomed tiredly.
“Last stop of the day, any passengers stopping at Wedgehurst Station should exit now.” The sleepy nature of the voice reminded you of yourself, drowsy from the long ride. However, you had gotten on rather early, so the sky outside was bright and there was much to be done.
You then dragged your suitcase out of the monorail, waving to the assistant at the exit before stepping out of the station. You exited with a few others, although they filtered out fast. It was great to be in Wedgehurst again, especially when everyone was in the spirit of the winter months. Breathing in, you can practically taste the fresh baked goods, and you can hear the jingling of bells hung up with white and red ribbons.
But...there was someone you wanted to see. You quickly rushed across the street, to the purple church-style building with a familiar red and white Pokeball framed just above the doorway.
A dangling wooden sign read ‘Professor Sonia’s Lab’, and a bright expression filled your face. It was a bit different from what you remembered it to be, but the excitement of being reunited with an old friend was all you needed to get knocking on the door.
You could hear a woman’s voice from the other side of the door, “Be there in a sec!” You clench your fist in excitement, grip tight on your suitcase as you waited for the door to open. And then as soon as you could say ‘champion time’, the familiar orange-haired, lab coat clad woman stood before you.
“[name]? Is that really you? It’s been forever!” Sonia exclaimed, quick to wrap your arms around you for a hug. She didn’t let go for a minute, reminding you of the spine-crushing rumors surrounding the strength of a Bewear.
After she let you go, you croaked, “...Yeah, it’s me. I came to visit, since I’ve been so busy in Wyndon.” You exhaled, again fiddling with your hair as you swiped a bit behind your ear. “Is Hop here?” You nervously asked, wheeling your suitcase in front of yourself to save your spine from being crushed.
“Now that I think about it- no! He told me he’d be out for a bit, so why don’t you come in? We can catch up while we wait for him to come back.” She smiled, pushing open the door and allowing you to see the again familiar holiday decor. You spend a while talking with Sonia, here telling you about her recent discoveries and you telling her about the strenuous working but good success of your job at Wydon Stadium.
“I can see you must be making bank,” Sonia laughs, taking off her coat as the heater begins to kick in from the back room of the lab.
“I suppose, but it’s great to be back in the place where I grew up, where we grew up.” You share a laugh, before taking a Luxury ball from your pocket. “Speaking of reuniting..” You then lightly toss the ball, out popping a Glaceon will a small trill.
“Where’s Yamper?” You ask, as your Glaceon goes to Sonia to receive attention.
“Right here.” Sonia then whistled, and from the back room of the lab, Yamper came skidding around the corner, barking. It then out a happy bark, jumping onto the chair where you sat and begging for pets.
“Still as dumbfoundingly cute as I remember ‘m.” You coo, taking the time to rub the electric dog behind the ears before it jumps to the ground and shakes out it’s zappy fur. Sonia nods, before you hear yet another knock at the door. Yamper then ran up, scratching at the door with it’s little paws, while Glaceon moved over to your side.
Hop then busted through the door, eyes closed and a box in his hands. “Hey Sonia, I’m back-” He then looked over your direction, almost dropping the box before scrambling to keep steady. “[name]..[name]!” He then rushed over, setting down the box on a table before rushing over to you and engulfing you in a hug. “I didn’t think you’d be here, you’re always so busy with work and I-”
“Hop, it’s me. For real!” You tried to calm him, again almost feeling like your internal organs were being compressed. You sighed as you were finally released, shoulders slouching.
“Sorry, sorry- I’m just so excited to see you!” Hop laughed, acting like a happy Stufful after it’s owner returns home. “It’s been forever!” Hop exclaimed again, and Sonia laughed from the chair she sat in.
“I’m excited to see you too, Hop- It’s really an excitement to see you all, to be back in Wedgehurst.” You smiled,as Hop untangled from you and turned to the box on the table. “I got some stuff, but that can wait. I just- this is so great!” Hop smiled, stuffing his
You smiled at Hop. For a small fling you had in the gym challenge (of course, before you quit), he had become quite charming. Although he still seemed to be clumsy, as he fumbled over the box he walked in with trying to hand it to Sonia.
Then, Hop turned back to you. “Hey, [name], come on! I’ve gotta show you something- since you’re here and all now.” He smiled to you, and turned to Sonia. “That alright with you, Professor?”
“Take your time. I’ll be here- I’d better unpack this thing and get to work anyways.” Sonia offers a smile, before ushering away, Yamper right at her feet. Your Glaceon followed, seemingly disinterested by you and the verb-named guy.
Exiting, you look to Hop. “You’re definitely different than I remember you, Hop.” You tried to keep up with him as he led you through Wedgehurst, smiling and waving at various townsfolk and watching lights cut on and off as the Pokemon Center staff tried to fix their decorations.
“What can I say? I was stupid then,” Hop spoke, dashing a bit forwards into the snowy route. He seemed ecstatic, jumping around like a fiery Scorbunny. You followed him, a bit skeptical to what he was taking you into a route for. But that seemed obsolete, as keeping up with him gave no time for idle thoughts.
“Well, Smart Guy, where are we headed?” You joked, finally matching his pace as your shoes sunk into the snow. Hop didn’t answer, just simply taking your hand and continuing through. You rolled your eyes, only feeling more inclined to keep up.
You then stopped at a tree, which unlike the others in the frosty route, was slightly decorated, with berry ornaments and pretty lights. Hop grasped your other hand, bringing you under it.
“So, I...I just wanted to tell you something.” He let go of your hands, tucking his own palms into the pockets of his jacket. You wait patiently, unconsciously beginning to curl your fingers. “I still have the same feelings for ya.. that I did during the Gym Challenge and I-” He paused for a moment. “If you feel the same, then maybe we won’t have to be lonely anymore.”
You were going to speak, but then Hop seemed shocked. “What am I saying?” He mumbled before running off. “Hop, wait!” You then fumble after him, but he’s gone like an Eldegross in the wind.
Gryffindor: What are your plans for Prom Night, Huff?
Hufflepuff: I'm going to cry and watch The Vampire Diaries at Ravenclaw's house.
Gryffindor: Why isn't Ravenclaw going?
Hufflepuff: Ravenclaw says that Prom is a stupid arbitrary event with no real meaning designed to take money from students and pressure people into having sex.
Gryffindor: Okay, then...
Gryffindor: What about Slytherin?
Hufflepuff: Slytherin is going to prom with someone else.
Gryffindor: Someone else?
Hufflepuff: Yes, someone else. Meaning not me. Hence why I'm going to be crying and watching an angsty paranormal romance show.
Gryffindor: ...
Gryffindor: Well, you have fun with that. *walks away*
Hufflepuff: Where are you going?
Gryffindor: To prom so I can get laid. DUH!
Ravenclaw: *comes out of the cuts* I FUCKING TOLD YOU SO!
The stars lean down every night
Just to press their lips against your skin
And I can’t help but simply lay here
Hoping that in time, I can do the same
If I close my eyes for a brief moment
You’ll slip right through my fingertips
I’m just so lost in my own misery
And you couldn’t possibly manage to find me
If but only within each of our dreams
My therapist claims that I am a tragedy
Constantly recalling the way
You took me by a storm
Only to leave just as quickly
She calls every day to remind me of those pills
Poisoned medication forced against my will
And I’d play hooky if I weren’t so caught up
Just wishing for your voice on the other line
The blue hue of my eyes, now a faded grey
Not that it really changes anything
But I feel like it’s seeping into my bloodstream
Modifying my perception of reality
My sense of mental stability
And I wonder if I was every really sane at all
The sun still rises at dawn
Continues to settle beneath the horizon
In the late evenings when I’m coming home
But it just isn’t the same without you anymore
The silence you’ve left behind is deafening
This house, no longer filled with your laughter
Or your warmth, or the sense of security
Or even hope, for that matter
I guess that’s why I keep trying
I keep mailing out those silly letters
Not that you will ever read them
I suppose I just like to think you will
It's easier to accept that you won't reply
Than it is to accept the fact that you're gone
The thought of it brings a tear to my eye
I don’t really lay upon that bed anymore
Numerous comforters and blankets
Collecting dust of the fading memories
Though they still reside untouched
Precisely the way you left them
Because I can’t even imagine attempting
To sleep without you intertwined with me
Drowning in love beneath those satin sheets
It’s growing old, you know
The restless nights spent staring at my hands
Studying the crevices between each digit
Where your own once were
These thoughts are steadily consuming me
But when I think of you, I don’t feel so alone
And I still scream your name when I cry
So if you hear me next time
Send a postcard
Something along the lines of, “I’m fine”
Scribbled on the back of the place I long to be
The location of the man who never set me free
Because you were everything to me
Toronto: Describe your ideal partner.I don’t think I’ll know my ideal person until I meet them but for now, someone who I can be my absolute full self around and tell anything on my mind to. Someone who is open minded and loves to talk with me about everything and the world. Someone who loves animals is a must oh my gosh. They should be super caring about the things that matter to them and a kind person. Someone who loves me for me and every flaw of mine (it’ll be hard). Someone who loves ahs and can talk with me about it and all my babies from the cast. Someone who can give good cuddles coz I’ll be asking for those a lot. Someone who is understanding is a big thing. This is so long and I haven’t begun on looks. Looks don’t matter I like a persons spirit BUT I do think people with nice eyes are attractive. Especially amazing brown ones. And someone who is taller than me is a plus but that’s not hard because I’m 5'3.
