So, I think this is finished? It's getting more difficult for me to call pieces done these days. lol

This one is based off an idea I had a long time ago, about a knight who goes off to war then comes back to find his lady has passed. (it's at the end of these, called 'Decayed') I wanted to do a before piece, and one day I might do the aftermath too.

The long goodbye

Every day I see her slipping just a little more. I watch as she slides into the vast emptiness, and I can’t do a damm thing about it. My love for her hasn’t changed, but her mind has.  Somedays she can remember, and some days not. Pain and anguish fills my heart. I lie beside her in the night, knowing she is just as likely to wake and see me, smile, and reach out, as she is likely to start screaming because she doesn’t know me, or where she is. Sometimes I pray for the darkness to take me, let me have another life......but, I love her. So I will be here for her no matter what. Even if she doesn’t know who I am, I remember who she is. This is the first time I have loved anyone with this.
