unironically, I think I've been on the internet way too long
someone: so what are you scared of?
what I say: ehh, needles I guess. my brain hates it more than I do, I don't get when it developed.
I don't know if I believe in ghosts, but I definitely believe in hauntings.
I also believe humans are haunted as shit, which lends itself pretty well to believing in the supernatural and cryptids, so even if they aren't "real", it's easier to believe they are, because people are already haunted.
What haunts people? Ghosts, sometimes. But more often it's less tangible things- regrets, fears, memories. The things you failed to do live in the shadows of your closets, the tasks yet to be completed haunting your desk drawers and cupboards. The fear that no one likes you or fails to really understand you leeches into the bedsheets, and soaks the twilight hours in dread. The times you were cruel lurk in your peripheral vision and crawl in the walls, groaning into the night.
The past can haunt you. The present can haunt you. People can haunt you. You can haunt yourself.
A ghost is just one thing that can haunt you.

Hey thanks for responding to my tags!! Had a fun and terrifying time reading about Michigan Lefts. Is that a solution because there are no traffic lights there? And I'm glad y'all have cloverleaf interchanges (..as Wikipedia says), though the roundabout thing is so bizarre, I can't imagine having to stop each time at those 7 I pass and, yk, wait to go bc it's a normal intersection. But they're small roundabouts - the ones in Paris with 6 lanes and no lines on the road terrify me as well.
Also very unreal that you don't have normal tax and bank transfer things. You'd think the government wants to make it easy for you, same with your bank.. but it's probably a sign of how it developed historically compared to here in West-Europe. Still, wow. Wouldn't a bank be loved by their customers if they allow direct transfers?? Seems like a great business move? But maybe your banks aren't national and more per state, or the banks refuse to work together a little?
(Also. I don't even drink tea but kettles are great if you need bouillon in a recipe or want to get hot pasta/rice water faster than just heating the water on your stove. Does a tap stove give boiling hot water then? I had never seen one in my life!!)
Cannot wait to visit America one day and experience the culture shock bc it seems like there's so much that's normal to me that's completely different there! Have you been to an European country before?
Hi! So I'm gonna run through the ask and answer as I read, there's a LOT of words here! Keep in mind I'm one perspective and have mainly lived in one state my whole life (anxiety Michigan)
-Michigan Lefts are ironically something I only got introduced to as an adult, and that was LONG after running into stoplights; we've got plenty of the latter, but some areas are putting in more of the former. Ironically I've seen Lefts with stoplights.
Not an expert on WHY, but I know it lowers traffic deaths and makes it so you don't have to cross a main road they decided to cut in half for some godforsaken reason. I honestly prefer it over having to drive across 3-4 lanes just to turn left.
-Cloverleaf interchanges are REALLY common here! Sometimes the exits and changes get put a little too close together for comfort, but I'm an anxious driver. I don't know many other exit types tbh...
-The roundabouts I've seen over here are wild to me, but if you're gonna do an alternative four-way and keep traffic "moving", sure that works. I think I've seen circles with yield signs generally, though.
-This country... is made for profit first, not people, and that goes for the banks too. The average bank I've encountered hasn't said shit about direct transfers, and the one I use has like... a $30 overdraft fee (so if I go below zero, I get charged money). If you wanna pay a friend fast, someone needs cash or both of you need an app like venmo, no in-between.
-We just have normal hot water, but we also use a lot of pots and pans. If you want pasta you grab a pot, turn on the stove, add water to pot, and wait. A little salt helps with the boiling somehow, don't ask me how.
-Good luck over here! (/positive) If you hate traffic over there, you're not gonna be much happier with it here, but it's also unironically the best way to get around.
-(And I've been to Denmark! For somewhere "without a lot to do", I still had fun for the week I was there, and it's pretty enough! The parking and city maneuvering was the weirdest part, but a lot of places were built to be confusing to invaders iirc? So it makes sense that the streets are janky.)
btw im Not Normal about how i think c!grian and tommy would get along. because we have the pre-collab assumptions and the collab interactions, which were with the cc rather than c, but is there nonetheless .
like i have talked about this LONGGG ago like pre-november 16th events, long ago, but . okay so i think they are ALMOST found-family insufferable brothers
like. Grian is a biiiit standoffish from Tommy, however he meets them in any au, but still does his Grian thing. there's three ways Grian usually is when it comes to big personality people. get along like a house fire while also torturing them lovingly (scar, bdubs), start war everyday of their life (doc), or are baffled of (joe) . i think he teeters between the second and third one with Tommy
but it's hard to say because of the BIG DIFFERENCE between different era of tommy. pre-exile and post-exile tommy are. big changes.
i think pre-exile tommy, would grate Grian a bit. The yelling, the stealing of riches, he's probably a bit in-your-face and gets into your personal space, something that i feel like can only be initiated by Grian for him to be comfortable with, and so on . Grian would one-up him, find small ways to make him pay back for damages and the like, maybe avoid.
post-exile tommy, Grian would egg on a bit. probably quite literally, give Tommy an inventory of eggs and send him on a task to devourer someone's base in chickens. Tommy would be more standoffish, a lot more tired, paranoid, hoarding small things and hiding in mines. any base he would have would probably be some hole in the wall he found in a corner of a giant megabase. Grian would give him chests of iron axes, pickaxes, etc, that he'd collect from leveling up villagers. Tommy would never use them, but he'd appreciate it.
i loveee Grian a lot but overall, BUT since it's me, and im . ill . and am considering the overall lore of Grian's character through multiple series, i don't think my interpretation of Grian would really be the main pillar of support for Tommy. they're to similar, yet clashing if considering yhs-evo-hc history for c!Grian, i think he would be reminded WAY to much of himself if he saw post-exile Tommy. He'd be alarmed and off-putted by pre-exile Tommy in the beginning, but would be able to adapt to him and see the soft, fun and supportive nature of him. post-exile he could get along with and care about, but i don't think could be the one to help him .

Rating Services Based On How Easy Their Emails Are To Unsubscribe From
context: I’m cleaning out my 4000+ Email Inbox.
Target: One pretty easy to find button at the bottom, one “yes i wanna / no i don’t” bullet choice menu, one confirm button. “This action may take up to 10 business days.” Clear communication, simple menus, took all of a minute. 10/10*.
DoorDash: Gray text on a light gray background. Menu with like seven different unsubscribe options. They at least were courteous to provide an “unsubscribe from all” button that didn’t check off the “TOS Changes” box. Took all of a minute, minor confusion. 7/10* for accessibility issues.
Uber: Small white text on black at the bottom. Had an “unsubscribe from all” button AND an option to check account settings. “Please allow up to 10 [business] days for processing.” Straightforward, took all of a minute. 9/10* for accessibility concerns.
Uber (Account Settings): A few hoops to log in, but nothing unusual (phone #, password, 1-2 confirmation codes texted). Allows user to unsubscribe from text message promos and spam. 10/10* for ease of use.
Quora Digest: Small gray text on white background. Bullet menu with “as available, daily, weekly, never” options. Additional disclaimer to check settings. Two buttons with a small green box at the top of the computer screen stating it was done. 8/10* for accessibility concerns.
Quora (Account Settings): Small menu button, relatively straightforward navigation to Email and Notifications. Shitton of buttons with no “uncheck everything” option. 8/10* for being tedious, but clear.
PNC Bank: Small white text on a blue-ish, dark gray background, weirdly hard on the eyes. One text box to fill in email and a submit button. “Please note, you may continue to receive commercial electronic communications from PNC that we are under an obligation to send.” 7/10* for accessibility concerns, and I’m already concerned I’m gonna have to unsubscribe SEVERAL times.
Hulu: Small gray on black button at the bottom of the email, but it immediately unsubscribed me with a prompt to resubscribe if it was a mistake. 8/10* for accessibility concerns but holy shit was that fast.
Google: Apparently I’m getting advertisements for upgrading my phone. Small black text on white at the bottom of the email. One button, with an additional button to opt out of more emails. 9/10* for accessibility concerns.
Paypal: Unintuitive placement in the middle of a long-ass text segment; small blue-black text on white, link is obviously a link. Checkbox menu with “Developer Updates” turned off. Simple and straightforward, if a bit strange. 7/10* for accessibility concerns.
Casting Call Club: Obvious link at the very bottom, light orange on white. Two buttons, kind of confusing in intent but otherwise straightforward. 8/10 for clarity and accessibility concerns.
TurboTax: Small lettering at the bottom of the email in the “security” section, an unintuitive spot. Log in leads to the same website no matter which of the two buttons provided you click, neither lead to an obvious “unsubscribe from newsletter” section. I had to google it, every user is complaining that they don’t unsubscribe and there is no obvious method. -5/10*, pretty sure that’s illegal if the comments are correct; additional “i am biased and hate them, do not make me purchase shit to do my fucking taxes” tax.
*Score will drop by a minimum five points if I have to update this with a “did not actually unsubscribe me” / “took multiple tries” disclaimer.
