Hi hi hello I would like to share my personal HCs for a group of South Park characters in which I like to call the crime kids although I don't believe they're widespread enough to have an official name within the fandom and the characters people include in the group differ heavily. The characters I like to include in the group are: MFC Tommy MFC Jessie (She only appears in one scene and has no speaking role, but Billy refers to her as Jessie and she looks very similar to Tommy so I like to HC them as siblings) Corey Lanskin Billy Miller Trent Boyett Romper Stomper Josh Myers Terrance Mephesto Bill Allen Loogie Alejandro White Leslie Meyers Fosse McDonald Timmy Burch Sometimes I also include Missy because I HC her to be Josh's sister, but usually she's not there.
I have a loose HC for that group being together and a general idea for a fanfic I wanted to make with them, basically being that they run some sort of illegal business together. The easiest route to go with that is drug dealing but I have been trying to brainstorm some other things they could be doing (if anyone has ideas I would love to hear them).
Anywho that's pretty much it, I could talk about them more but I don't know what specifics to list here, I mainly wanted to share who I include in the group. =]
Imagine It, If You Will... Chapter Sixteen
Butters opened the door to Loogie's Ristorante, the cold air rushing into the building, his hood flying up over his head from a sudden gust of wind outside. He flailed at his hood a bit, pushing it back down as he entered the restaurant, shutting the door behind him. He started walking forward before he felt a sharp pull on his cape, and he turned around, seeing it stuck in the door.
Butters sighed, shoulders slumping as his cheeks heated up in embarrassment, and he quickly went back over to the door, opening it and tugging his cape into the building before shutting the door again. He turned around again, Loogie seeming unimpressed and unamused, and Butters rubbed the back of his helmet sheepishly.
"Chaos, you're usually more composed." Loogie mentioned.
"Yeah, well, there were some… complications at the museum.." Butters sighed, walking over to Loogie's table, sitting down across from him.
Loogie sighed, "I take it that means that you didn't get it, did you?"
"Oh, I never said that." Butters smiled, reaching into his coat pocket and grabbing the pendant, Loogie's eyes widening.
"You… You did it…" Loogie sounded surprised.
"Yeah, it wasn't too hard. Those fighting lessons helped, though. Your aunt wanted to steal it back to have it and the money she got from selling it to 'em. Luckily for us, I got to it first." Butters smirked, putting it on the table, Loogie looking it over.
"Unbelievable… Thank you, Chaos, truly.." Loogie thanked him.
"Heh, it uh… it was no problem. It was a nice field trip." Butters tried acting nonchalant.
He'd pushed down the guilt of zapping Mysterion as much as he could- he'd made sure it was just enough to stun him, not much else. He didn't want to actually hurt him, he just… he just needed Mysterion to stop trying to get him to stop. The hero didn't understand- wouldn't understand. Heroes and villains were supposed to hate each other; Butters couldn't afford to be nice to him anymore.
"And an important one… my family will be relieved to have this back." Loogie said, "About the construction work to your base, my grandpapa has agreed to lend you his company to build whatever you require, we just need blueprints."
"I think I can get some for you?" Butters replied, "I can remember it for the most part, and I know I've seen 'em somewhere there…"
"Do you own the property?" Loogie asked, and Butters paused.
"It's uh… kinda abandoned? It's that old amusement park in North Park." Butters answered, and Loogie nodded.
"It shouldn't be difficult to buy out, the renovations just need to be…. discreet. Like the property was bought and we never got around to dealing with it." Loogie said.
"What about after it's bought out? Would you fellas still own it, or…?" Butters trailed off, and Loogie shook his head no.
"No, we would transfer the ownership over to you- discreetly, of course. My grandpapa's name would remain on the title, but a contract would be signed that gives you the ownership of the land." Loogie responded.
"He'd agree to that?" Butters questioned, and Loogie nodded.
"He already has. He told me that if I could find someone to get that pendant back, he would repay that person however he could, including with this. Can you get the blueprints for him?" Loogie requested.
"Give me uh… a half hour at most?" Butters requested, and Loogie nodded.
"Very well." Loogie said, and Butters got up from his seat, heading for the door.
A flight to the amusement park and back later, the blueprints successfully found in the security office and tucked into his coat pocket, he was opening the door to the restaurant again. Loogie hadn't moved, but there was a dark green chair across from him with visible silver screws visible in it, the cushions black. Butters perked up upon seeing it because woah, he had his own special supervillain chair!
"Chaos, welcome back." Loogie greeted while Butters walked over.
"I got the blueprints! Also, uh.. when'd you get the chair?" Butters asked, looking it over.
"It was finished while you were gone; I had my boys working painting it over the week after Tommy found it in a yard sale." Loogie explained, "I wasn't sure if you'd eaten or not, either. New York is famous for its pizza."
"I didn't think about it." Butters winced, "I can go back!"
Loogie laughed a bit, "Good joke. Johnny! Bring our hero some spaghetti!"
"Don't call me that." Butters said, making himself glare and sound bitter, adding a few sparks for show.
"My apologies." Loogie seemed unphased, and Butters was a bit surprised.
He brushed it off, though, sitting down across from Loogie while Johnny brought over a plate of spaghetti.
"We just made some hot chocolate back there, if you're interested? It's freezin' outside!" Johnny offered, and Butters perked up before he could help himself.
"That would be great, thank you!" Butters answered, and he froze.
That… was probably why he wasn't very intimidating, wasn't it?...
"I mean, uhh… sure, that would be… alright?..." Butters trailed off awkwardly, rubbing his knuckles together under the table.
"Heh, you got it." Johnny nodded with a small laugh, heading to the kitchen.
"Uhh… promise not to mention that?" Butters requested.
"Mention what?" Loogie responded.
"That I-" Butters stopped upon seeing the look on Loogie's face, and he laughed a bit, "Oh, you were… got it."
"You're still not quite what I expected." Loogie said while eating some of his spaghetti, "You're quite formidable, yes, but you have a certain… I don't want to say harmlessness?"
". . . I zapped Mysterion, and I zapped the shit out of burglars and beat some unconscious with the training Antonio gave me." Butters said, trying to salvage his reputation, and Loogie paused.
"You what?" Loogie asked.
"Your aunt had helpers, and I uh… I dealt with them. These sparks aren't just for show." Butters held a hand up, letting electricity crackle in his palm for emphasis, the lights overhead flickering before Butters let the electricity fizzle out.
". . . I retract my previous statement." Loogie said as Johnny walked out, carrying a plate of spaghetti and a dark green mug of hot chocolate that made Butters's mouth water.
"Thanks." Butters thanked him, trying to sound cool as Johnny put the plate and cup in front of him.
"No problem." Johnny replied, "Wasn't sure what your favorite color was, so I just went with the color 'a your cape."
Pink.
"I'm pretty partial towards darker colors; y'know, like dark green, dark gray, black…" Butters answered instead.
Supervillains weren't supposed to like pink…
"Thought so!" Johnny nodded, heading to stand by the kitchen door.
Butters didn't waste much time to start eating, giving the hot cocoa time to cool before drinking it, and it was so worth the wait. He'd been craving it for a few weeks now, and this was amazing. Loogie thankfully gave him time to eat and drink, looking over the blueprints Butters had grabbed. Once Butters had finished, Loogie spoke up.
"This is impressive, I'm certain there's something to be worked with, here." Loogie mentioned, "Tommy, get me the cork board, Post-It notes, and markers. Johnny, bring the rest of the hot chocolate, this'll take a while."
"Yes, boss!" They left to do as requested, but not before Johnny grabbed Butters's empty plate, leaving the mug.
Tommy quickly came back with the board- which was tall, had some holes in it, and it was on wooden legs and wheels. Tommy set the Post-It Notes and markers on a nearby table, and he stepped away to stand by the front door again. Loogie got up to walk over to the board, pinning the blueprints to it, and Butters followed him.
"So, anything specific you want?" Loogie asked, and Butters looked over at him, "Where's the main spot you hang out?"
"Right here." Butters pointed to the Mine Shaft ride, "It's got the security desk in it, and the main power switches."
"So it would be smart to fortify it?" Loogie questioned, and Butters thought for a moment before nodding.
"I guess so, yeah. I uh… don't really use the rest." Butters admitted, "We could just limit modifications to there?"
"Why do that when you can have the whole amusement park? Think about it, a whole amusement park of traps, storage areas, cafeterias, supply rooms, armories, workshops. You don't want to add any of that?"
". . ." Butters thought for a moment before nodding, "That could be fun… I don't need an armory, though, I don't really uh… I don't do weapons. I don't need 'em."
Besides, weapons would mean that he was trying to hurt people, and he wanted to avoid that as much as possible…
. . . He still felt bad about zapping Mysterion.
"I see. Very well, if you ever decide on more armor, though, it would be nice to have somewhere to store it, right?" Loogie questioned, and Butters shrugged.
"I guess so?"
"In the Mine Shaft? There are multiple sections, after all." Loogie mentioned.
"That could work! I uh.. I dunno what I'd need a workshop for, though. I mean, I don't really know a whole lot about tech, I dunno how I was able to get the security system up and running." Butters rubbed the back of his neck with his hand.
"It doesn't have to be just for tech. Pranking contraptions, the works." Loogie explained.
"That'd be kinda cool, actually!" Butters realized.
Loogie wrote down the different areas, pinning them to the blueprints, and Butters grabbed his mug of hot cocoa from the table, drinking some of it.
"What about modifying the roller coaster?" Loogie suggested, "Putting traps in it?"
". . . I could add traps?" Butters asked, "Like- glitter buckets, slime pits- stuff like that?"
"Probably." Loogie shrugged, "You want them?"
". . . Yes." Butters confirmed.
He would just need to tell the Agents of Chaos where all of the traps were…
Butters walked over to the board, looking the blueprints over, trying to find the best spots. If he put them around the amusement park, someone could accidentally stumble into them, which would lead to his hideout getting found. They would have to be inside of the amusement park, preferably not too sensitive to where a small animal could set them off. Butters grabbed some Post-It Notes, writing 'TRAP' on each of them, and he stuck them in different locations that he nor the Agents of Chaos ever went, just in case someone started snooping around. All of the security cameras prevented there from being too many blindspots, but it wouldn't hurt to cover those with some traps, just in case. If Mysterion ever found it, it would need to be fortified… Butters winced, remembering zapping Mysterion again, and he shoved the thought to the side. No, he couldn't think about that right now. He could beat himself up over it later, and he honestly probably would… It was actually almost a guarantee.
"What about one right here?" Loogie pointed to a blindspot, and Butters nodded.
"That works!" Butters nodded, and Loogie stuck a Post-It Note there.
Butters looked over the board again, and he asked, "Could we attach somethin' to the roller coaster? Like- where it drops down real fast?"
"Like flames?" Loogie questioned, and Butters shook his head no.
"No, uh… not flames. Maybe uh… oh! Could we do smoke machines? So that whoever's in the roller coaster can't see the tracks? There could even be tons of it right where it drops down! With lights making it scarier!" Butters grinned.
"That could work." Loogie nodded, "What about the sign? It still says 'Cartmanland', right? You've gotta have something else you want to call it."
"I.. haven't really given it much thought…" Butters admitted, "The Carnival of Chaos? Chaos Carnival?" Butters shrugged, uncertain, "It'd be nice if we could change what lights on the sign lit up, so that way it looked unchanged from the outside!"
"That could be looked into. Or the sign could be covered with the real one at the press of a button?" Loogie suggested.
"Oh! What if we tore down the sign, and we added a new one inside? It could even be controlled from the security office, I can lock down the entrance and exits from there, too! Speakin' of, I should probably get that clear tomorrow.." Butters mumbled the last part to himself.
"You can clear it?" Loogie asked, and Butters looked over at him.
"Well, I uh.. have some abilities." Butters mentioned, "Like how I made it to New York City and back in one night."
"The teleportation thing? I assumed you had it from the news." Loogie said.
"Not just that." Butters smirked, floating a bit above the ground, and he heard some gasps from Loogie's henchmen.
"You can fucking fly." Loogie observed.
"And I've got super strength, but yup!" Butters confirmed.
"I… That explains why Uncle Antonio said you were strong as fuck for a kid…" Loogie sighed, "And how you wear that armor without breaking a sweat."
"Oh yeah, the armor is super light to me!" Butters rubbed the back of his neck, "I uh… I didn't even realize it was that heavy until someone pointed it out."
"So- wait, you have actual superpowahs? And you haven't told anybody?" Tommy questioned.
"It would draw too much attention." Butters shrugged, "Besides, I uh… I don't use 'em for fighting. It's more-so for other stuff, like pranks! I… never really purposely used them on someone before tonight, and hopefully that was a one-time thing."
Loogie nodded, "I see. Well, it was still a great thing you did, Chaos."
Butters didn't respond, looking off to the side before going back over to the mug of hot chocolate, drinking the rest of it. Once he'd put it down, Johnny was already refilling it.
"Thank you." Butters thanked him, and he nodded.
"No problem." Johnny replied.
"Can't believe the boss made a deal with a fuckin' superpowered badass." Tommy mentioned.
"He didn't know that at the time, y'know!" Johnny responded.
"He's still a superpowered badass!" Tommy exclaimed.
Butters coughed awkwardly, unsure on how or if he should respond to those two, and Loogie sighed.
"Don't mind them, let's just get back to work. You have any other requests?" Loogie asked.
"Uh…" Butters paused, thoughtful, "Not really? Oh! Any chance I could have a cow manure cannon?"
". . . The fuck?" Loogie actually seemed speechless.
"Well, the first time me and Mysterion fought, I uh… accidentally kicked him into a big pile of cow shit." Butters admitted, and the others in the room burst out laughing.
"You- You're kidding, right?!" Tommy asked, laughing.
"No! He chased me across South Park afterwards, sure, but it was so worth it!" Butters laughed, floating a bit off of the ground again, kicking his legs in the air a bit.
"We are getting that cow shit cannon. Or at least a lot of fart spray." Loogie said, "Any other embarrassing stories about him?"
"Not yet." None without Butters also getting embarrassed, "But I'll keep you fellas updated."
"Fuck yeah.." Tommy smirked.
"I uh… I have called him a fuckass plum!" Butters remembered, "I called him a plum the first time we met, and he didn't know what it was. Then it just kinda stuck."
"You're shitting me." Loogie chuckled, "How much have you used that for blackmail?"
"Oh, I'm never letting him live it down." Butters smirked, hovering next to the table and drinking some more hot chocolate.
"Did he take your eye? You always keep it covered." Johnny asked, and Butters paused.
"Nah, I uh… I lost it a bit ago, actually- maybe a year or two? It was a complete accident, but uh… yeah, I can't see outta it." Butters explained.
"Is there a scar? Can we see?" Tommy questioned.
"Tommy, lay off him." Loogie glared, and Tommy went quiet, "Sorry about that, Chaos."
"It's ok! I uh… understand the curiosity." Butters replied.
"Can we at least get an autograph?" Johnny requested.
"Why?" Butters asked, "Sell it on Ebay?"
"Fuck no, I'm putting that shit on a wall!" Johnny explained, and Butters laughed a bit.
"Maybe next time." Butters replied, and Johnny smirked.
Butters spent the next… few hours at Loogie's Ristorante. They went back and forth with jokes, came up with a few more ideas for the amusement park, and Butters's mind was successfully taken off of zapping Mysterion! . . . Until he started going home. So, he started running across the rooftops, trying to take his mind off of it again, and he was mostly successful for a few minutes. After those few minutes had passed, Butters paused, seeing and hearing an ambulance zoom past him down in the streets, sirens and lights on and blaring. He could still remember the sounds of them outside of the high school, the medics that had helped him… He didn't even get the nurse's name, he didn't think. It was almost Christmas, too, and the medical team was still working- they'd probably even be working through the holidays!
His class would be back from New York in time for Christmas with their families, but the hospital would probably still be going in case of emergencies, not to mention for people on life support! Even Butters was taking a break from being Chaos on Christmas- he'd told the others to do so, too, if they listened was up to them, but he was hoping they would. Still… Butters at least wanted to say thank you for what they were doing. It was almost four in the morning, he'd drank a lot of hot cocoa, and he probably wouldn't be able to force himself to go to sleep.
Even though it was a Friday night- well, Saturday morning now, he wouldn't be able to force himself to sleep. Distracting himself with the blueprints had helped take his mind off of zapping Mysterion, not to mention zapping and beating up the museum burglars, but now that everything was quiet… Butters couldn't help but start thinking about it again. He wanted to be a supervillain, he wanted to cause chaos and wreck havoc, but… he'd hurt too many people tonight to sleep easy, even if only one of them truly hadn't deserved it. It was needed, yes, but so was stealing the pendant. Hurting people for personal gain was a supervillain thing, yes, but Butters didn't want it to be his thing, even if it was becoming more and more apparent that it would have to be. He would have to hurt people, whether he wanted to or not…
"Is all of this really worth it?.." Butters wondered out loud, his feet halting at the edge of a rooftop.
If he had to hurt people in order to be a supervillain… did he even want to do this? Sure, he'd been learning how to fight, and it was fun, but actively fighting, not to mention purposely hurting Mysterion and not just using it for self defense… it twisted something inside of him, but…
"No, it has to be worth it." Butters told himself, starting to pace, "I need this. The pranking, the chaos… I need it. Otherwise, I've got nothin' to do, and even if I can sneak out like it's nothin' I need something to do…"
Becoming a supervillain had gotten him friends- better friends than he'd had before. Granted he still had Dougie, but Dougie was his friend because he'd started being a supervillain. Sure, he, Dougie, and Pip had played in that basement with Stan while the adults partied upstairs, but they didn't really interact outside of that. Once Butters had shown his 'dark-side', Dougie related to him and then they started hanging out much more.
Without being a supervillain, he wouldn't have met Noah, who would introduce him to the others, and he wouldn't have met Loogie, who was going to help him spread even more chaos. Loogie had offered him a meal any time he was hungry, and even though Butters wasn't supposed to eat dinner after doing something as awful as he had by saying his dad had a tiny willy, it still felt amazing to get something in his stomach some nights. Loogie had gotten him martial-arts lessons, not to mention additional help… What happened if he stopped?
Would the Agents of Chaos think he was lame and stop hanging out with him? Loogie would probably take over the pranking thing, if someone else didn't, and then who would Mysterion have to fight? Mysterion was a kid, like him! What if he was in real trouble facing off against someone who wouldn't hold back?... Besides, Butters was a bad kid, this shouldn't be so hard to decide. He was supposed to be a villain, everyone treated him like he was born to be one, so why the heck couldn't he make himself do something evil?! . . .
"Maybe it's just been a long night, this is ridiculous…" Butters sighed, shoulders slumping, I'll probably feel better tomorrow after some sleep…"
But he already knew he wouldn't be able to sleep. Not tonight. Not after New York City… Maybe doing something nice could ease his mind? Even if he wanted to quit, it was too late now! Not only had he made a huge name for himself, if he didn't fight Mysterion, then who would? Who would lead the Agents of Chaos and keep them safe? Even if Butters didn't want to do some supervillain things, he had to, now. He couldn't run from this. But… could he try to do one nice thing tonight to help him sleep?
Supervillains helped themselves, so if Butters did something nice so he could sleep a bit easier… would that still count as being a supervillain?... It had to. Butters wasn't sure what would be open right now, but- oh a Walmart was open. Steeling himself against the chaos from last time, Butters made it quick. He went in, bought some gift baskets on clearance with his money, and left, making sure not to drop anything.
It wasn't as bad as the last time, Butters making the excuse of putting laxatives in chocolates or something, he was too tired to pay attention to what he said, but it wasn't what their true purpose was. A careful flight later, he was across the street from the North Park Hospital. He didn't have a pen to write anything down, he hadn't thought to grab one, so he couldn't write anything… maybe it was best to be anonymous?
Yeah, he didn't want the news talking about this if someone said something. The main emergency room door was shut, so he could leave everything there, knock, and hide once someone grabbed everything?
"Eh, should work…" Butters hummed, and he flew down to the door.
He landed silently, cape flaring out behind him before he put the gift baskets on the ground. Butters realized a few things in that moment. One: there was a security camera watching the door that he hadn't checked for. Two: there was one facing across the street that had probably picked him up. Three: that word must travel fast inside of the hospital, because before he could even knock, the female nurse that had helped him with the burns was there.
"Victor?" She asked, and Butters froze.
Aw hamburgers…
"Umm… hi?" Butters attempted, "I uh- I was just droppin' these off to say thanks an' all for everythin'... I um… I was just leavin'-"
"Victor, it is freezing." She said, "And it's four thirty."
"Yeah, I know, I was just about to go home." Butters reassured, and he was telling the truth.
". . ." She sighed, "At least come inside and let everyone talk to you? Everyone's been pretty worried since the fire…"
"I… am trying to ignore that the best I can, actually." Butters told her, "I just.. wanted to say thanks."
"Victor-" She began.
"Chaos, please." Butters requested.
". . . Chaos, look- you don't have to-" She started.
"Be a villain?" Butters guessed, "That deep down I'm a good kid? I've lived my whole life of everyone tellin' me I'm bad, and now other people are sayin' I'm wrong and that they were wrong? I… No, I'm sorry, I can't accept that."
"Ok, you don't have to." She said, "Just… are you at least being careful? If you're such a bad kid, what brought this on?"
". . ." Butters was quiet, avoiding eye contact.
"Chaos." She pressed.
"I just- I hurt people tonight, includin' someone who really didn't deserve it, and I just… forget it, it's nothing." Butters had to use all of his willpower in order to avoid fidgeting.
"V- Chaos, was… was it Mysterion?" She guessed, and he nodded a little, "Is he ok?"
"Yeah, he's fine… he's uh… he's survived worse, I just… I should get going…" Butters said, backing away, "Uh… feel free to pass those out, just don't tell anyone they were from me?"
This had been a bad idea…
"Chaos, wait a second!" She said, walking over to him, gently grabbing his wrist, "I understand if you've been through a lot, but… if you ever want to talk, I'm here, ok? Just… what happened to Mysterion?"
"You'll probably hear about it on the news." Butters told her, carefully pulling his wrist from her hand before throwing down a smoke bomb, retreating to a nearby manhole and slipping down into the sewers.
That… had been a really bad idea, crap…
Butters flew through the sewers for a bit before crawling out of a manhole cover a safe distance away, heading up to rooftops to stay mostly undetected on his way home. It was… around five by the time he got to his block, and he was right there- he was so close, when he heard something.
"Is that a cat?" Butters mumbled to himself, looking around. He could see a cat stuck in a tree, meowing and shivering.
Butters approached the tree, looking up at it, and he heard a little girl, quietly beckoning, "Come here, kitty, kitty, kitty!"
Butters looked around the tree trunk, seeing… Kenny's sister? What was she doing outside in the freezing cold? Karen gasped when she saw him, backing away, and Butters winced, stepping back. She was shivering from obvious cold, not nearly dressed warm enough to be out here, but she wasn't going too far from the tree.
"H-Hey, wait, it's ok! I'm not gonna hurt you!" Butters held his hands up harmlessly, but she still didn't calm down, "Please, it's ok, really, I won't hurt you."
Had news traveled that fast that he'd zapped Mysterion?...
"Y-You won't?" Karen asked, voice trembling, and Butters winced.
He'd never intended to scare anyone this badly…
"I won't." Butters promised, "Sorry, I really hadn't meant to scare ya, I uh… I heard the cat cryin', and uh…"
"You wanted to help?" Karen guessed, seeming surprised, and Butters nodded a little, looking off to the side, "Why?..."
"Because it needs help?" Butters replied, looking up at the shivering kitten, wincing, "I take it that's why you're out here in the cold?"
Karen nodded, "M-My p-parents and oldest br-brother is sl-sleeping, a-and my b-brother K-Kenny is o-out on a f-f-field tr-trip…"
Butters winced, "How long have you been out here?"
Based on her reddened nose, probably a while…
"I-I d-don't know, I j-just… c-can't let h-her freeze…" Karen responded.
"Her? Is she yours?" Butters asked, and she shook her head no.
"J-Just g-guessing.." Karen answered.
"I uh… I can get her down, just don't get scared when I do somethin', ok? I promise, I won't hurt her at all." Butters requested, and she nodded a bit.
Butters flew up to the cat, hearing Karen gasp down below, and Butters stopped to hover by the shivering cat. It was a black tuxedo cat with white paws and a white chest, along with a white mouth, ear tips, tail tip, and yellow eyes. It looked like a kitten, honestly, and Butters had no clue how long it'd been up here. It shrank back from him, pressing against the tree, and Butters winced.
"Hey, it's ok, I'm here to help you, ok?" Butters reassured, and wow was that weird to say in costume, "I wanna get you down and warmed up, ok? Just… c'mere please?"
The cat blinked at him, shivering while its nose twitched, and it slowly crawled forward while Butters mimicked mouse noises. It was still shivering, but it got close enough for Butters to grab, and once he had it, he flew back down to land silently on the ground. Karen was watching him in astonishment, and Butters carefully handed the cat to her, Karen accepting it.
"H-How did you d-do that?..." Karen questioned.
"It's… kinda complicated, just don't tell anyone, ok?" Butters requested, and she nodded.
"Th-Thank you… I umm.. we h-have some rats s-she could eat?.." Karen shrugged, looking down at the shivering kitten in her arms, and Butters winced.
He wished he had cat food- Eric had a cat, Butters knew that, but not only was Eric gone, but he doubted he would give up cat food.
"I'll try seeing about picking up some cat food tomorrow?" Butters said, "I uh… I'm kinda broke, but I'll see what I can do tomorrow if you've still got her?"
"Thank you, Mr. S-Scary S-Supervillain." Karen thanked him, and Butters winced.
"Just uh… just Chaos is ok… I uh… I'm not tryin' to be scary or nothin', and uh… I'm sorry if I scared you." Butters apologized, and she blinked at him.
"I-I'm Karen… . . . Y-You aren't that sc-scary I guess… I j-just… my br-brother K-Kenny and m-my guardian angel u-usually p-protect me, and th-they're both g-gone, s-so…" Karen trailed off.
Guardian angel?
"So you felt defenseless?" Butters guessed, and Karen nodded after a moment, causing Butters to mumble, "I know the feelin'..."
"You do?.." Karen asked, and Butters paused, looking away from her.
"More than I wish I did… I uh.. don't really have anyone lookin' out for me, it's kinda an uh… fend for myself type thing…" Butters admitted, "But you don't gotta worry about that, ok?"
". . . You're sad." Karen said, and Butters looked back at her.
"Huh?" Butters was confused.
"Y-You… You got s-sad when you s-saw how sc-scared I was… th-that's why I'm n-not as sc-scared… y-you felt bad…" Karen explained, and Butters looked off to the side.
Why were first and second graders always so perceptive?
"I just um… look, it's late… early? You should get home." Butters told her.
"O-Ok…" Karen shifted to carry the cat in one arm, grabbing his wrist in her other hand, pulling him towards Kenny's house.
"Wh- not with me! I gotta go!" Butters told her, "Besides, you shouldn't just bring random supervillains to your house!"
"But you saved a kitten.." Karen said.
"Yeah, but-" Butters started.
"Just for a few minutes?..." Karen requested, "Please?..."
". . . A few minutes, then I really gotta go." Butters relented, and they reached Kenny's house, Karen leading him to a window, "Uh… aren't you usin' the front door?"
"No, my guardian angel comes through this way, too." Karen shook her head no, "Can you open it?"
Butters sighed, reaching up and opening the window, Karen reaching up and putting the kitten on the windowsill, who then hopped inside. Karen pulled herself in, Butters ready to catch her if she fell, but she thankfully didn't. She looked over the windowsill next, Butters reluctantly pulling himself inside, and she shut the window, latching it shut. Her room had gray walls with pink flowers colored on them, tattered dark pink curtains, blankets, and gray sheets with a purple pillow, along with a large, warm looking green and purple quilt.
She had a brown nightstand with a white lamp with purple flowers on it, a pink lampshade, and a… really pink and glittery teddy bear on her head. . . . Butters had no idea where she got it, but he kind of loved it. He would never, ever admit this. Ever. He would get ripped on for the rest of his life. The kitten was curling up on her pillow, making itself comfortable, and Butters hesitated, unsure of what she wanted him here for.
"I uh… Can I go now?" Butters asked.
"Not yet, I just thought you'd wanna see that she was safe." Karen replied, sitting on her bed by the kitten, "My guardian angel might know someone who can help her… He's always looking out for everyone…"
"Who is this guy anyways?.." Butters questioned because maybe it was just some imaginary character.
Karen grabbed a drawing from her dresser, showing him, and his eyes widened. Oh hamburgers, that was Mysterion!
"W-Wait, Mysterion is your guardian angel?" Butters asked, and she nodded.
"Yeah, he is. My brother knows him, and he helps us. He umm… he knows our parents don't have much money, so he helps us how he can… he got me this teddy, too!" Karen held up the pink teddy bear.
. . . Ok imagining Mysterion carrying this through South Park all the way here was kinda hilarious. Yes Butters was thinking about that to avoid thinking about Kenny being friends with Mysterion, and it was a fairly good distraction.
"That was nice of him… you uh… you do realize we're enemies, right?" Butters just had to make sure.
"I know, but you don't have to be. You're a good person, I… I can see that. I was honestly really scared of you- supervillains are super scary, and when I heard about everything happening… I got scared. You're… not that scary, though.. You're nice and you helped a kitten." Karen said.
"I'm not that nice…" Butters mumbled, leaning against the wall by the window.
"I think you are. A mean person wouldn't save a kitten or get sad from seeing someone scared of him." Karen mentioned.
"That's not-" Butters began, and he sighed, rubbing under his exposed eye with his fingers, reaching under his blue visor, "I just… it's complicated, ok?"
"Ok." Karen nodded, "It can be complicated, but you're still a good person."
"I-" Butters sighed, "I can see why you and Myst get along…"
"Myst?" Karen echoed.
"It's uh… kinda a nickname?" Butters shrugged.
"Oh.. at least you don't call him anything mean!" Karen chirped.
". . . I wouldn't say all that…" Butters laughed awkwardly, looking off to the side, "Speaking of… can you not tell him about any of this, please? He's uh… he's real mad at me right now, which is more than fair, an' if he's lookin' out for you… it's probably for the best he doesn't know we talked."
"Like a secret?" Karen asked, and Butters nodded.
"Yeah, like a secret." Butters nodded, "Look, um, I really gotta go, just… Please don't tell anyone about this? I uh.. my reputation would kinda be ruined.."
"I can do that.." Karen nodded, getting under her quilt, the cat cuddling up under it, "Good night, guardian demon…"
"I-" Butters froze, looking at her with shock.
Had she really just called him that.
"What is it? You say you aren't good, even though you are, and you wanted to get me inside and out of the cold, and you rescued the kitten." Karen said, "Is that bad?..."
"No, no, I just, uh- I didn't expect that.." Butters couldn't stop his knuckles from rubbing together, and he looked off to the side.
He could more than understand why Mysterion was looking out for Karen, she was so pure… . . . Yup, Butters was protecting her at all costs, he was deciding this now.
"Oh, sorry.." Karen apologized.
"You don't gotta apologize." Butters sighed, forcing his hands to his sides, "Look, uh, I gotta go, umm… just remember what I said about not telling Myst? Or anyone? Please, he'd kick my butt if he found out I was here."
"I promise, I won't tell him." Karen nodded with a yawn, "Good night…"
"Good night." Butters replied, yawning, and he left the room out through the window.
He pulled it shut, jiggling the window a bit to get the latch to fall and lock, and he crept through the snow, behind houses, and he reached his house. Butters flew up to the window after a quick glance around, opening it and crawling inside and shutting it. He rubbed at his exposed eye after pulling his helmet off, and he slid his gloves off next. He proceeded to change out of his costume and into pajamas, carefully hiding his costume under his bed before climbing into it and under the covers. Butters then proceeded to pass out.
