"How do I get out of this labyrinth?" ~ @johngreenwritesbooks Anyone who knows me closely would know how much I had loved this book when I read it, and even years later I still find myself rereading sections from it. Although some would label this as a 'coming of age young adult' book (not that it's not) but this book for me was an introduction to how depression weaved into young lives. Alaska was an enigma to read, but she was also heavily depressed. I spent half of the book concerned for her, and the rest contemplating and deconstructing what happened 'after'. This book was the start to my very long journey in realizing that we don't always feel okay, and that's okay too, but what's important is to learn that it's necessary to help ourselves when we don't.
