When Petia turned about six, Rasputin and Helga came over for a brief visit; shocked to see the man with a house full of children. Though he was watching Tara and Ryang and Petia. Helga wanted to talk to Draq about getting married, leaving her husband to spend time with the children. He was sober at the moment, not under any influence of medication, and could clearly make out the things around him.
Petia and Tara were fighting over her stuffed rabbit, Ryang was watching them with some apprehension, and everyone in the room goes quiet as the man sits down in front of them and smiles. They all wait for him to yell, but instead he puts a hand on Petia's shoulder and looks down at the rabbit.
“Have you ever had a toy?”
“Mhmm..”
“..I had toy once.”
Tara lets go to look up at him
Ryang is all 'oh yeah I know adults had toys once'
but like Tara and Petia are so confused to think that a big scary guy like Rasputin had a toy once.
She's the first one to speak up, letting go to her toy. “What happened?”
“Someone took it.”
Both kids gasp as he sits down, staring at him.
“He was my bestfriend. We play many games. He talk to me, and stay with me throughout my years. Then one day, someone take him. I was sad.”
Ryang peeks over to see how they're taking it, and Petia's already feeling bad, pushing the rabbit back to her. “Sorry!”
“No I'm sorry, I should share.”
Rasputin laughs and ruffles their hair. “Sharing is always good. If you want to be happy, maybe someone else can be happy too?”
Ryang just watches and thinks to himself how weird it is that a KGB man is giving lessons on friendship, but likes the way Tara is calming down. Maybe he's giving good ideas!
Tara reaches for the man's hair
she wants to like hug him
or something, but hair grabbing is the way to go?
Petia just snakes his tentacles around his grand papa's arms and nuzzles him.
“We can all be happy. Not just one. Whole group. Whole family.”
Draq stands at the doorway with his mom, a little dumbstruck, like 'did that just happen'?
Helga wipes a tear from her eye and heads for the womens room to cry her eyes out, because god he's such a good father. Draq sighs as they all watch Mr.Rogers and Ryang and tara lean on Rasputin while Petia stares at the TV
That whole family would love Mr.Rogers very much. PBS would be their hub. Even James' kids would learn to love it. Well until Tara got older, then she'd start watching reality TV and call Petia a baby.
