Shadow House

Up near the highest peaks of the Myridian mountains, there is a crag that is only visible at a certain angle. If you press a stone it will open up and lead you into a deep corridor with many doors blocking your way. It only gets darker and darker with each door you pass through. the very walls, ceiling, and floors are Vantablack. 

That is where the cells are. Where they keep the embarrassments. The misshapen and deformed. The mistakes. for you have entered the Shadow House of dark legend. Woe to all who enter, for none come out.

“Ugh, as if.” Tau scoffed. “Like I’d ever take orders from anyone.” She’s too proud to let someone tell her what to do. Even her Chapter head knows better than to try and Oder her about. “Let alone a human.” She’s probably breaking rules by doing this, by letting this human boy figure it out. But she doesn’t care. Here she’s an alien and back on Gallifrey she’s ostracized by the color of her robes. She’s lonely and hes interesting.

That was... odd. She was telling the truth. It was just all the human comments that were throwing him off. She was definitely trying to mock him; there was no way the human thing was honest. Maybe she just resented being here? 

“Traveled to London, did we? Not staying the night. A parent, more statistically, your father is here because of work. No mother or no one to care for you at home... or maybe you just wanted to get out the house. But you don’t like being here, which means you’re either come here often enough to be bored of it or there is something far less appealing back at home. Or both." Simple. Too simple. He needed to dig deeper. If nothing else, she was interesting.

It had all started with a lead. A single lead, and after that . . . everything spiraled out of control. Agron was leading the task force to raid the headquarters that had taken them far too long to find. Law enforcement from all over had joined them, strengthening their forces and ultimately, leading to a victorious raid. They had captured the culprits and had yet to fully secure the area. Agron had strayed from the others, going to the lower levels and still heavily geared in his uniform with his weapon on hand. 

When he reached a cell, he noticed a woman inside of it who looked . . . well, it didn’t look like the best damn circumstances for her. “Fucking hell,” he mumbled upon seeing her state and living conditions. He opened the cell, standing in the threshold as he looked over her to see if there were any immediate signs of injury. Either way, she would need medical assistance. “What’s your name?”

He closed his journals, packed away his pens and watercolors from the cafe table, and packed them into the pockets in his coat before moving to stand and get away from this now regular annoyance.
