Drabble

Dealing? He wasn't.

Elros shut down entirely. Silver eyes loosing that gleam of mirthful light and bleeding out onto the ground with his brother's last breath.

He had felt it. The deafening snap of something tearing apart deep within him. Something irreplaceable  Something essential. They found him on the battlefield, half bent over his brothers lifeless corpse and a sea of mangled enemies around them. It took five strong men to tear Elros away from his brother's body. 

The anger was the worse to deal with. It came in waves of blind hatred that none were safe from. Both man and elf alone left the grieving peredhel to his mourning. For to cross Elros now was to take your life in your hands. He snapped at friend and family alike, seethed at like a wild animal with wild haunting eyes. 

But it was the mourning that everyone remembered. The low toned haunting melody of a broken soul wailing into the midnight evening. As if some part of Elros could draw his brother from the house of dead and return him. But Elros did not know where his brother rested. He did not know if it was within the halls of the Eldar, or if his brother took to the skies to fly alongside their father-- he didn't know.

It is said he never smiled again, nor did laughter find his heart. For he himself died upon that battlefield along side his twin.

The control he claimed over man was a ruthless once; unchallenged and unbent. Elros Tar-Minyatur sat upon the high throne of Numenor with an unwavering iron rule; soulless metal eyes like twin swords into the heart of any who dared meet his gaze.

He ruled over Numenor until the end of the Second Age; until tall dark ships clouded the endless sea and his armies landed upon the shores. He joined the Last Alliance of Elves and Men, and it is told the only passion to cross his cold visage was found that day. He moved like a nightmare across the field.

...and then Arda came to know a darkness unmatched. Elros claimed the one ring for himself.

For Elrond had always been the better half.

Elros blinked, and stared after the fleeing form of his twin A sheepish grin was given before he gathered his robes and went off in pursuit of the younger. No one smooches then runs away!
