Why the Heist quest was doomed from the beginning?
I posted it once as a response on Reddit, but I think I can post it here.
V and Jackie or why for such high profile job was hired 2 gonks?
My opinion is that these mercs are supposed to be flatlined anyway after. I believe the following is the possible scenario.
Job came from Dexter DeShawn, who is already a very shady fixer and wouldn’t be a first choice for any normal client. More over, instead of hiring pro mercs, Dex hired 2 gonks who doesn’t even have access or affiliate in Afterlife. Just try to pass the bodyguard, he won’t let V do it.
Also they are so low level that they don’t even realize Dex is shady. Jackie is literally hyping him up, talking about him like he’s some big legend. Most likely he just heard about him before he disappeared. If they actually knew he was gone for a while and fell off, they would probably think more before taking this job.
It’s quite possible that idea to steal the relic belongs to Yorinobu, who shared this info with Evelyn Parker and asked to hire a fixer to not involve himself, so in case of disaster nobody could track his involvement. Evelyn for sure knew that Dex is not a top fixer, that he was missing for a while, but hired him anyway. Why? Because she decided she can play with V and sell the relic herself. No other fixer with reputation would allow to do so. Underestimation that cost her life.
Why Yorinobu would do it? He knows the importance of the relic and it’s seen in Devil ending in Cyberpunk 2077 that he tried to destroy Arasaka from within. He tried to sell this specific relic to not let his father win. In Devil ending V literally helps Saburo to kill his son.
So back to the idea: to hire two unknown mercs craving for glory to go against Arasaka, knowing it’s Arasaka and still willing to try. Arrival of Saburo is not planned, but Yorinobu used the absence of Takemura and killed his father. I’m sure he did know about mercs that were hiding, so does Adam Smasher. Just take a look, he looked directly at their position when he entered. He can’t skip those by mistake, he knew and ignored it because that was the order.
Yorinobu probably improvised, because “stolen” relic is even better in terms of ruining Arasaka reputation. With this it’s understandable how V and Jackie escaped, they were allowed, knowing that either Dex will kill them or Takemura who will run after. 2 dead gonks is a small price for relic that he wanted to be gone anyway.
How does Moon feel about Scavengers taking parts of her can to make their tools? Sorry if thats a bit of a dark question!
Not at all!
Well.. judging by in-game dialogue she does not seem too bothered about it.
The second piece of dialogue has her more concerned about the idea of the monkeys using a time and space breaking bomb (which is very fair) than the fact those are iterator batteries without a casing more or less.
Moon is very affectionate towards scavengers. She is quite amazed by their ingenuity.
Unlike Pebbles, Moon seems interested in the things they make and do.
Actually that's the case even when she can't recognize the item is made from a scavenger.
She unknowingly compares scavengers to a civilization. And that's quite interesting. We do see them be exceptional with using technology and the environment in general to their advantage. They also grow in numbers during Saint's campaign.
So who knows? Perhaps they are the next civilization.
THIS FUCKER HAS PIERCINGS
I’ve come to terms with the fact that DSMP Lore is a soap opera
So I rewatched the animation for Wigfrid, and I noticed some things that I didn’t notice before/forgot about. So now i’m posting about it because I love rambling about Don’t Starve Together 😍 (sorry if i sound like a loser in this post) this contains lore talk!!
First thing I noticed isn’t really that important to the lore or anything, but when I rewatched the animation I realized how fucking rich Wigfrid was, like god damn!! Just look at her house
Fancy ass stuff dedicated to her acting career and her love of Valkyries!! Like she was hella rich, she even had a whole viking scene painted on her ceiling!! (You can see it in some of the other photos)
This is where the lore talk starts!! So now im gonna pay attention to Wigfrids newspaper
Like were the people who were missing after the EarthQuake people who were taken to the constant? 👀 or just the normal casualties of a normal EarthQuake? Is it a ‘normal’ earthquake or does Maxwell have something to do with it… After I did some research I can conclude that The Great San Francisco Earthquake happened in 1906 (it legit did!! This is out of dst lore and into real life ‘lore’) and Maxwell started his performances as “Maxwell the Great” IN SAN FRANCISCO 1905!!!!! And his last performance with Charlie before they get taken into the Constant is on April 17, 1906. Which possibly means that Wigfrid was THE FIRST PERSON MAXWELL TOOK INTO THE CONSTANT!!! (Shortened version: The San Francisco Earth Quake happened in 1906, same year Maxwell was taken into the constant, earthquake possibly caused by Maxwell?)
Next thing I have to talk about still deals with the newspapers
So we can see that in the first image, the newspaper says that Wigfrid is getting worse at preforming, and that she is getting less popular, yada yada yada. Which is the sole reason she accepts Maxwells offer to “put her back in the spotlight.” BUT later in the animation we see Maxwell’s shadow thing come out of the newspapers, which have now turned pitch black, and he makes the deal with Wigfrid that leads to her getting dragged into the constant. And after she gets dragged in and all is quiet, we see the newspapers are still black (!!) which I think implies that the newspapers were never real and that Maxwell created them to make Wigfrid accept his deal. Legit gaslighted her. But if the newspapers were never real did the San Fransisco Earthquake even happen? Or did it happen and Maxwell just put it on there to make it seem like a legit Newspaper? (Im guessing thats what he did)
Another thing I want to talk about is Maxwells weird connection with Gramophones.
In Wigfrids animation Maxwell only shows up after Wigfrid turns on her Gramophone, which may mean nothing, but Maxwell has a gramophone near him when he is on the Nightmare Throne, and in Warlys animation it focuses on the Gramophone right before Warly vanishes. So I think Maxwell has a tie to gramophones just like he has a tie to the Voxola Radio (this may be fucking canon. I forget alot of lore stuff) I don’t really know if this means anything important or whatever, but its just something i noticed. (Heres the images for Warlys animation and Maxwells gramophone)
Im done talking about lore stuff, so now im just gonna talk about other Random stuff i noticed!! :)
The article says “Has her star finally faded? [name] seems unable to recapture the magic of her previous role.” The thing I noticed is that Klei purposely makes her name unintelligible, its like their fucking teasing us /lh
The thing im focusing on is the newspaper article framed on the left. It says “Audiences left spellbound after Soprano’s powerful performance.” At first when I read that I thought that was Wigfrids real name (as Wigfrid is just her show name.. I think) but Soprano is “the highest human vocal register, extending approximately from middle C to the second A above” so maybe its her name or maybe its just referring to her as a soprano singer? I don’t know
Next stuff blah blah blah
The detail of the newspapers and mail piling up because she has been gone so long makes me so sad :(( And again we see Klei messing with us by making the name on her letterbox unreadable!! And at first when I saw the newspaper I was confused because isn’t she supposed to (possibly) be the first person Maxwell dragged into the constant? And then I realized that the other missing people were Maxwell and Charlie :(
I think im done with typing this. Thank you for reading it all!!
