Loreali
trying to let the Gilmore Girls episodes sink in.... wow.... just wow.
My roommates must hate me for the volume at which I shriek the Gilmore Girls theme song....
"which I figure we can mix together to create a fabulous new game: candyshipbattleland, war never tasted so good!" - Lorelai Gilmore
This is me.

Today's Blast from the Past
"If you're out on the road, feeling lonely, and so cold. All you have to do is call my name and I'll be there on the next train. Where you lead, I will follow anywhere that you tell me to. If you need me to be with you, I will follow where you lead." It's funny how hearing a theme song from a show you love to watch can easily bring up all you favorite memories of that show. This rings true with most shows I watch but especially with the Mother-Daughter duo of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore.
This show was a multigenerational series about friendship, family, and the ties that bind it altogether. I honestly don't think there are too many shows out there like Gilmore Girls. Its one of the earliest shows I can remember that really focused on a Mother and Daughter's relationship, especially how their lives intertwine with people of a small town, and how they grew as people while achieving their dreams despite the obstacles that life threw their way. And come on who didn't love the fast pace, witty retorts, and the amazing pop culture references throughout the seven year run of the series.
When you watched Gilmore girls you felt like you lived in Stars Hallow, Connecticut. We would have our daily interaction with Luke at Luke's Diner while enjoying on of our many daily cups of coffee. We would get annoyed with Taylor and his town selectman ways, sit through his town meetings and partake in every town event. We got our daily gossip from either Miss. Patty at her dance studio, or from our loud but lovable neighbor Babette. We also each week got to see what new profession Kirk had taken up (seriously he had a new job like almost every episode).
As we watched, we learned the ins and outs of Lorelai's rocky relationship with her parents Richard and Emily(and never tried to learn a maids name because let's face it there was a new one each day). We saw her unstable relationship with Rory's father Christopher, the ups and downs with Lorelai's romantic life (yes were talking about you Max, Jason, Chris and Luke),the loves of Rory's life (Dean, Jess, and Logan) as well as the ever-growing friendships between Lorelai and Sookie, Rory and Lane and Rory and Paris. We watched Lorelai, despite being a single mom who had Rory at 16, open and run her own inn, with some help from her friends, and also provide for her daughter the best way she could (even if it meant asking her parents for a little help along the way). We watched Rory, our very intelligent book worm, accomplish her dream of going to an Ivy League school and becoming the journalist she had always aspired to be. And as the curtain began to close on the Gilmore's and the camera began to fade, we left from where it had all started, with mother and daughter together at a table in Luke's, each with a cup of coffee before they began their lives on separate paths that would always be connected in the end.
We laughed, we cried. We cheered, we shouted. We at times wished were were a Gilmore girl. It is truly a wonderful journey to have been apart of and I recommend if you haven't watched it you'll grow to love it.
Lorelai: "Hey, you know what I just realized? Oy is the funniest word in the entire world. I mean think about it, you never hear the word oy and not smile. Impossible. Funny, funny word." Emily: "Oh dear God." Lorelai: "Poodle is another funny word. In fact, if you put oy and poodle together, in the same sentence, you'd have a great new catch phrase you know? Like, 'Oy with the poodles already'. So from now on, when the perfect circumstances arise, we will use our favorite new catch phrase- Oy with the poodles already! I'm telling you, it's knocking 'Whatchu talkin' 'bout, Willis' right out of first place."
Lorelai: Hello? Emily: You get over here right now! Lorelai: Who is this? Emily: This is you in twenty years! "Who is this?", I swear!
Luke: Rory's not here yet. Lorelai: Then you'll have to entertain me until she arrives. Okay Burger boy, dance. Luke: Will you marry me? [Lorelai is taken aback] Luke: Just looking for something to shut you up
Jackson: I think we should get married. Sookie: But - uh, but... Jackson: Soon. Sookie: Are you pregnant?
Logan: Rory, you're special. Rory: Like "stop-eating-the-paste" special?
Lorelai: Well, I can't take it back to Yale. Luke: I'm not storing your microbe mattress, forget it. Lorelai: Well, then I'm stuck here. Luke: Fine, because I need my truck back. Lorelai: Fine, but that leaves you with the mattress. Luke: I'm not taking the mattress. Lorelai: Then let me take the truck. Luke: But that means you take the mattress. Lorelai: I can't take the mattress. Luke: Then you can't have the truck. Lorelai: But that sticks you with the mattress. Luke: If you take the truck, it comes with the mattress. Lorelai: I can't take the mattress. Luke: Then you can't have the truck. Lorelai: And that sticks you with the mattress. Luke: We've been here before. Lorelai: I recognize that tree.
Luke: He's a grown man with and etch-a-sketch. Jess: Well shake him real hard, maybe he'll disappear
Lorelai: I miss Max. Rory: I know. Lorelai: I had a dream about him the other night. Rory: Really? Dirty? Lorelai: No. Absolutely not. And when you're 21, I'll tell you the real answer.
