CAN YOU EXPLAIN THE GENERAL CLIMATE AROUND SIGHIRS? IT SAYS THEY HAVE TO BE IN HIDING SOMETIMES, IS IT THE WAY PEOPLE PERCEIVE THEM OR SOMETHING DEEPER?

It's not necessarily that sighir users are in hiding, I would say it's more that sighir is a very recent development and there's still a lot of unknowns regarding it. To explain, in the 100 years that there's been a colony on Mars in this universe, people who can use sighir have only started being born in the past two generations. Those who can use it only make up .5% of the population(doing some quick math here the population of New Jakarta is 1 million so that would be 5,000 sighir users).

In general, there's not much knowledge on it because it's happened so recently, I imagine that the government is still doing research on it and trying to figure out creating laws surrounding it. There might be some fear of mages in New Jakarta due to the unknown, but I don't think it's a large concern. I'd also like to make a note that Braax crystals(the source of sighir) are not compatible with technology, so the existence of a cyborg/android sighir user is not possible.

WHAT DOES TRANSPORTATION LOOK LIKE? ARE THERE STREETS / FREEWAYS / BUSSES / PLANES / JETS / BIKES?

I've answered a similar question here today as well! But to answer it quickly, there are streets of all different sizes in NEW JAKARTA, for reference look up a city like TOKYO, OSAKA, and the main inspiration JAKARTA, there are SEVERAL FREEWAYS within the city boundaries, especially between the neighbourhoods, but not that many.

NEW JAKARTA has chosen to give a lot more space to public transport and pedestrians. It has a biking culture similar to a country like THE NETHERLANDS ( not me making a reference to my own country ;) ) with a few BIKING FREEWAYS where bikes take precedent.

JETS / PLANES do not exist on MARS, in order to get to another city one has to use SPACECRAFTS or brave the rough exterior of the planet on a GRAVITY VEHICLE ( not recommended ). Only goods travel between cities on trains, since the temperature of the planet outside of the terra-formed cities fluctuates between -153 celsius / -243 fahrenheit and 20 celsius / 68 fahrenheit.

Most TRANSPORTATION within the city is done by METRO ( like the city we take some inspiration from TOKYO ), with about 90% of the population using it DAILY.

Furthermore, we'd like to give our members some freedom upon joining to add to the lore ( we'll have a special discord channel for this and a page on the carrds that will be added ) and making it their own.

How does someone join the council?

Hello anon!

Apologies for the late answer. One joins the council on invitation basis! They try to include as many people from positions all over town that need a representative among them. Coven & Pack leaders are in the council regardless, and they tend to suggest invitations that are then discussed within the council, before being extended.

This includes Humans as well.

The type of people I think they'd include are those fulfilling a job that helps the community (think fire fighters, teachers, doctors, the mayor, someone who runs a homeless shelter, government employees, etc.)

can you explain how a spell is done?

Hey anon! Absolutely, I'll try to do it in as few words as possible.

The traditional way:

A Witch needs Goodwill with the spirits first: usually through doing rituals, gift-giving, and words for praise.

After, a Witch has to communicate their intention well with the spirits. The spirits are like genies, the more left up to chance, the more the spirits will try to create chaos. Light this candle is a very clear directive and thus a very easy spell. Set it on fire is not so clear and might result in more than they bargained for.

The ritualistic way:

A spell done through a ritual is usually a more complex spell, in order to get the intention just right, the ritual set up fills in a lot of the details already. Sometimes it needs more Witches than just one, and it is more likely to be irreversible.

The chaotic way:

Most traditional witches don't agree with this way, but it's not something that's easy to control. It especially happens to young witches, a five year old throwing a tantrum and setting furniture on fire, or a witch grieving making it rain locally. The spirits are beings of chaos and they react well to chaos. The outcome can be muddled, as intentions aren't very clear when someone is in the height of their emotions. Witches that use this way are often the most chaotic ones.

How do the wolf packs decide on their Alphas?

A very good question! The packs (and covens too) are very old-school. People get to nominate certain members of the pack upon a former leader retiring, and the nominees attempt to garner votes from the pack for a few weeks before they all have a get-together and drop their vote of choice in a hat. Then a few older Werewolves count the votes and announce the winner.

Why do covens have two top/high positions? 

Hey anon, 

So the short answer is: division of power. 

The long answer is that the power structure of the Covens (as opposed to the Packs which have a naturally-born power structure depending on what the pack needs) has been a long tradition. 

For the longest time there has always been a matriarch and a patriarch leading any coven in the world (this doesn’t mean one man and one woman, but two leaders who focus on vastly different subjects within the coven). The matriarch would be there for the health of the coven’s individual members, their contentment within the coven, their believe in the coven, and their strength as witches. While the patriarch is the organizer, going for the health of the group above the individual, for the perfect arrangement of the rituals and the rules surrounding what can and cannot be asked from the spirits.

Of course, it isn’t exactly like this anymore. But some of that power balance still exists. Especially in Saga’s Coven, but less so for Hel Coven.

What sort of things can witches do? Are their only affinities ( with the spirits ) related to the elements?

So witches are very similar to the druids. They can preform spells of any kind, and with any element. Their power is only stopped by imagination and the amount of strength it would take a Witch or how much effort it takes from the spirits. 

They can do small things that take very little good-will from the spirits like: light a candle, make a glass of water, dust-off a piece of furniture, fix someone’s glasses, create a small illusion, change their voice, or read a person’s supernatural aura. 

Larger requests like: mend bones, move water larger than a glass of water, read someone’s intentions, protect someone from harm, lay a curse, wipe someone’s memory, etc. will take more effort or even shared effort to succeed. 

Most spells need words and/or rituals, though, it’s the intention that matters, not the words/ritual themselves. So to mend a bone one witch might do something completely different from another witch. 

Witches can have affinities with certain elements or certain types of spells (healing/mending, memories/thoughts, plants, wind/smell, etc.) but this is usually a combination between personality (things that attract a certain type of spirit, like more aggressive witches are more in line with fire, and more calming and spiritual witches may have a better bond to water) and skill (someone who spend most of their younger life working on healing magic will be a better healer). 

The most important thing when it comes to what witches can and cannot do is Balance. Spirits can change the balance of the world for a moment when asked, but only for a little while. And some imbalances (like a curse) will stay until order is restored.

hello lovely admins! I have question for the witch species. Does fenris' witches have innate ability or their power comes from the spirit? IE do they they have their own unique ability other than the spirits? Like can they control weather like storm from xmen or talk to plants or read minds and telekinesis?

So, all Witches are essentially able to control everything. The way it works is that everything in the world has its own energy, its own ‘spirits’, things that inhabit everything and everyone around us. And Witches have the ability to communicate with them.

Spirits are beings of chaos however, so it takes practice and understanding to be really skilled at controlling a certain element. So while most can make a little fire or move around a little water, trained Witches are usually good at just a few things.

Asking the spirits to move for you, takes a bit however, whether it’s favours they might ask you one day, or ceremonies and rituals held in their honour. It’s best to be cautious to not request things too often.

For more information on rituals and ceremonies and such, I suggest taking a little peek at the Druids! Super interesting, and feel free to take lots of inspiration from them!
