I am storm clouds, written by Lorraine Fae
misty melancholy mornings
the sun hides behind clouds
made of gloom. i close my
eyes to dawn, too. am not
ready for a day dressed in
dew. maybe i will hide where
the day cannot see me either.

orchid blossoms
(11/7/23)
in the summer you will already be fading written in petals⠀⠀falling to the ground something rare in your beauty many rush to capture it fleeting not many really understanding why you exist gently and fiercely open palm and open mind now that the blossom is overturned will they know you were here before?

i’ll never feel clean
my skin has been raw
and itchy. i have scrubbed
myself one too many times
trying to get rid of you, and
yet i still burn.

can’t forget
or maybe i refuse to. holding
each touch like a faded picture
i cannot feel anymore. i can
only catch glimpses of a version
of me, not as touch-starved or
happy. something in between
madness and content.

ribs made of glass
every morning i breathe
until my lungs break the
cage. i spend the day
plucking shards from
inside myself. i learn to
inhale quietly.
