I’ve been really appreciated Green Noise Records (Portland, Oregon) lately. They’ve got nice connections with many international labels, most of them punk/power pop based. So here goes an updated posting of “Hey Summer” (originally posted 8/11/17...I had already written this when I saw that I’d posted already).
Lost Balloons is a collaboration between Jeff Burke (Austin TX: Radioactivity, and Marked Men) and Yusuke Okada (Japan: Suspicious Beasts). I’d never listened to any of the aforementioned bands, and I’m not sure they’ll sound a lot like Lost Balloons. To me this collaboration sounds like one of those which results in the creation of a “new” sound.
Lost Balloons is power pop/pop that reminds me of Harlem, Gentleman Jesse, The Last, and at times Flying Nun (every now and then while listening to this I thought...hey, The Bats...or hey, Sneaky Feelings).
Dirtnap Records used to be run out of the Green Noise Records store in Portland. Now Dirtnap is located in Madison, Wisconsin.
