Ghost ship series The lost expedition by George Grie
First Officer.
O Captain! My Captain!
Inktober 2024 - Day 24. Expedition
This time, there is another videogame fanart. I just remembered that one videogame, that I haven't played in years since my PS2 broke.
I used to play that game called Pitfall: Lost expedition. And honestly, even now I think it is underrated game, because it had great story, and also the graphics and backround music, that was memorable.
With threats on all sides we prepare for the dangers to come.

“Alpha, report.”
“Nothing here of note, just some broken pots and abandoned buildings”
“Beta, report”
“Empty… this place has been picked clean… a while ago”
“Charlie, report”
“...”
“Charlie?”
“Hmm?... oh! Sorry sorry, negative this place seems to have been forgotten”
“Delta, report”
“Clean as a whistle, the whole place has been checked. There's nothing here”
“Echo, report”
“...”
“Echo?”
“...”
“I repeat Echo are you there?”
“...”
“...”
“Life signs show—”
“We have a code blue! I repeat code blue! Echo is non-responsive”
“Somebody tell me their last known location!”
“Negative sir, they're not showing up!”
“Call it.”
“But sir w—”
“Can it. They're gone, try to locate them I'll notify their next of kin… continue the sound off.”

That was the last exchange of the mining group called The Tharsysian corps. The corps was the most daring crazy group out there, they were like the military and recruited ex-colleague and mercs for operations. Didn't matter what the job was, where it was, or difficulty… the corps got it done. That is until they went on a charting mission for The Lycrian alliance. You've heard of them haven't you? No? Well, they're the alliance between Cryolus, Nii'ronia, and Thyaruun. The three kingdoms of the West and North. The Cryolus were engineers, they created many wonders and advanced machines. The Thyaruun were warriors and semi-nomadic. The Nii’ronia were scholars, teachers, and record keepers. Roland Lycrian one of the scholars suggested a treat between the three Nations and all joined. They have since gone onto the pursuit of knowledge. All leading up to the Thasysian corps’ charting mission. I'll expand more on such later
But, back to our story.

“This is Echo, I found something”
“...”
“I repeat, this is Echo, I found something”
“...”
“Please, somebody answer I'm stuck and need assistance!”
“...”
“...Anybody?... please?”
Nekoda punched the wall. His armored fist leaving an indent, Nekoda had been stuck in this canyon for nearly two hours, his water supply was running on empty and his food supply had been lost in the fall that trapped him in this blasted canyon. Nekoda’s flashlight had begun to fade making him nervous. The batteries must be low, his smartvisor had night vision but had about two and a half hours of batteries. Not wanting to be stuck down here forever, which would stink, Nekoda ventured further down the canyon further hoping for a way out. Nekoda wandered through the cave canyon following the walls and open spaces.
Something danced just beyond his flashlight.
“The dark plays tricks on the mind. The dark plays tricks on the mind. The dark…” Nekoda began muttering to himself. Something else moved just within the beam of the light. Nekoda did a manly yelp, except it sounded nothing close to manly, and he jumped backed and into the wall hitting his head. The floor came to greet him, eagerly I might add, like a long lost friend or family member. The flashlight hit the ground and the lights went out. Fun times he thought. Nekoda propped himself up on one arm and looked around… pitch black. Nekoda cursed his luck, that's when he heard them, the footsteps and whispers. If he wasn't scared before, he was now.
“H-hello is a-anybody t-there?” He asked shakily
No response only more whispers and steps, it was terrifying to be like this in the dark, probably hallucinating. Nekoda remembered his smart visor and reached up to activate the night vision. It didn't do much because the visor was cracked in half a dozen places but he could see somewhat. That's when he realizes his vision was fading and he was extremely tired all of a sudden.
“Oh no, no, no, no. Not now please, not a concussion…” his voice sounded sleepy and it was fading
“Gotta…” his eyes were heavy “stay…” he slumped over “awa…” and he was out like a light.
…
An indeterminate amount of time had passed as Nekoda lay unconscious. When he finally woke up he felt rested, his suit still had power but no light. After running the concussion tests on himself, Nekoda had determined that he had only knocked himself out. He cursed his own clumsiness and tried turning on the smart visor. Half the piece worked the other half was pitch black. This deep into the cavern most likely meant that little to no natural light made it down here, Nekoda sighed, that meant his eyes would not be able to adjust to the darkness… to his luck the visor half that worked was on his left eye’s side, the bad part he could no longer tell how much power was left and his compass was gone.
Nekoda gingerly rubbed the back of his head “that's going to hurt in the morning...
Underwater footage of one of Franklin's lost expedition ship. No identification yet if it is the Erebus or the Terror.
I was always fascinated by the history of the quest for the Northwest passage, and to see one of the ships finally found is super exciting!
