Detectorist
This tale began a year ago, when Sharon dropped her late mother’s gold wedding band through a gap in our deck boards.
She rummaged for a while on the perimeters of the murky business beneath the deck but eventually concluded that a ring wallowing in decades of dirt and debris was a needle-in-a-haystack kind of proposition.
The disassembly of our deck in recent weeks gave her greater access to the ground under the deck and reignited her hopes of recovering a cherished keepsake.
The thing she needed was a metal detector and she knew just where to get one - the public library. Where ...? Yep, our library has a metal detector - along with many other useful things you wouldn’t expect to find in a library.- it lends to patrons free of charge.
So, she put her name on the list and eventually brought it home. Now she’s learning as she goes, fingers crossed.
