I love this Mexican myth about a mountain and a volcano next to each other in the state of Puebla. The mountain, Iztaccihuatl, resembles a sleeping woman; and the volcano, Popocatépetl, is her lover, according to the story, kneeling next to her and waiting for her to wake up from her millennial slumber, and when she did, he would wake up, too, and his volcanic rain would never stop.
ow. this myth is so. adorable ?
I mean. Maybe he waited so much he turned to stone, watching her and waiting and waiting because it’s not like one of those western fairy tale where the man kiss the girl and solve it all, no, it’s a fight lead by herself for herself. And when she wakes up -he’s so happy, he cries tear of lava.
okay i didn’t know this myth like 5 minutes ago but i love it ??? Thank you so much, i might do an edit about this and quote your ask, if i may !
(send you your fave myth/god(dess) and why)
