Because I can’t get enough of drawing Liliya, and I’ve been particularly inspired lately.
Based on that one still from Challengers.

Touch…
A teaser of what’s soon to come for Nancy and Liliya in TNTTG.
man i fucking love dawn/erik, i shipped it at first because they occupy very similar niches (recent trial victims with the most drawn-out, painful deaths and agonizingly good voice acting, who are especially objectified in their trials, also they have their real name (erik/dawn), a fake title given for that objectification (bob vanier/lot 7), and then their titles as victims (the idol/the lot) and have really pretty fanart and are just nice to stick next to eachother and get an emotional reaction, but actually analyzing them i am fucking obsessed. ok. walk with me
i love how different they are for, again, filling pretty similar niches - dawn doesn't care at ALL about the in-trial "story" of what's happening to her (the auction), she is under no false pretenses even from the beginning and knows exactly what's Really going on, the only thing that matters being liliya and the reagents and the pain they're putting her through, the humiliation aspect of her spread-eagle for these fake "buyers" doesn't seem to affect her at all. erik meanwhile is convinced he's actually on tv and is appropriately distressed about thinking he's being publicly humiliated, shows specific emotional reactions to his surroundings ("that's warm"/"don't take the lady away"/"i thought it would be dark"), talking back to the mannequins ("stay away from my fingers"/"don't let her near me"/"you crazy son of a bitch")
dawn is, more than the lot, essentially liliya's sacrificial lamb - "no more god" - combined with the fact she doesn't seem affected by liliya's voice in terms of influence as much as she just seems to be pained by it, it makes me think she just generally has a strong head on her shoulders with regards to manipulation and religious figures as she's able to keep it together incredibly well in DtA given the circumstances, she wants us to kill her, no matter how slow and painful it is, just to get liliya's voice out of her head and make sure she doesn't have the last laugh. it makes me remember this dorris dialogue i adore. i think in better circumstances dawn could have even been an amelia-type figure, or if nothing else gone toe to toe as a reagent against liliya.
erik meanwhile, though i don't want to call him weak compared to her as he is of course going through so much i don't think anyone would be particularly well-adjusted during the duration of, fears us WAY more than he fears the kress twins, in fact he's begging them for help even when he expresses unease at their presence ("oh jesus christ is that the twins?"/"help me! arora, otto, make them stop!"). he's still trying to talk his way out of his and appeal to our emotions while dawn has no such reservations, because she knows how we are and knows what we're going to do, and just wants some control at the end ("if you're going to kill me then fucking kill me!")
i think they're also interesting counterparts in that their objectified victim roles feel very gendered. "bob vanier" is a handsome and silver-tongued who holds a lot of (hypothetical) political power due to this, "lot 7" is a trafficked girl being treated as a plaything for the scummiest rich men of the earth, interesting in this sense that of the two of them dawn is the one with more confidence and strength, i suppose it makes sense easterman, when picking roles to place them in, would go the extra mile to try and make them uncomfortable at the end. it makes for a lot more to chew on, i love this game
tl;dr:
