There’s been some videos I’ve seen saying how after Sinsmas they dropped/gave up on Helluva Boss. I haven’t watched the videos nor do I have interest in seeing them but I wonder what about did it put them off, like did they just wanted a series based on comedy and action with less story or did some directions in the story put them off. For me when watching Sinsmas is the Opposite, it Brought Back My Love of the Series
Doesn’t Help When They Got Clickbait Shit Like This
Those videos follow a kinda nasty theme... that they don't like the fact that Blitz and Stolas are genuinely are in love with eachother.
That's the part of the story that put them off.
Yes, it's going to take alot of work, and Stolitz have so much to sort out. Like with communication with eachother and with Via and Loona.
But Sinsmas showed these two men are truly devoted to eachother.
And the underlying theme of that episode; is that queer men can have a family together, where they can be happy with their kids.
This is the message that made them switch off.
We're shown this is what both Blitz and Stolas want, and it's the likely direction of the show will take.
After Sinsmas people couldn't pretend it was some little onesided crush, on Stolas' behalf.
And that Blitz will move on from him, to some hot women instead afterwards.
Yes, some of them got into the show for gags, not the plot. (But they also tended to not like the shorts either, so it's isn't just only wanting gags).
I've frequently heard them say they wanted helluva to be more like family guy.
So something much more cynical, where a character like Stolas would always be the butt of ever joke.
That beating him up, and trying to murder him would be played for laughs. A literal punchline.
Not a real look at men who are the victims of domestic violence, and how abusers do try to kill their victims.
A lot of their hatred for the show comes down to them wanting the effeminate gay man to suffer, and be continually punished by the plot.
These are the same people who categories Blitz as only some macho, cool, jerky assassin.
And call him 'gay for pay'... (As if that's less queer🤦)
They would prefer to sand down Blitz to only that.
Because dealing him being a badass; who likes to cross dress, is a horsey girl, a dorky dad, and Pansexual disaster; is apparently just too complicated.🤦
The show is about Blitz's relationships, so of course his love interest is the secondary main character.
(Why were you even watching the queer romcom in the first place if you don't like this?)
Lots of them are extremely angry that Stolas didn't get executed for his crimes of...
*Checks notes* being unable to read a room, having privilege, getting a divorce from his murderous abuser, and being wrapped up in his first relationship.
They also call Stolas a bad father.🤦 (Which honestly makes me envious of the parents they got).
Stolas got distracted from Via 3 times her whole life.
And then was forced into a unwinnable situation by his abusers, where he'd loss custody or Blitz would die. (Those were the only outcomes). Without knowing that was the stakes.
That's not been a bad dad. That Stella and Andy abusing Via, by treating her like a tool to get richer, and a point to be won.
It also doesn't really make sense for these people to say Stolas should die for the 'crime' of seeing Blitz / trying to leave an Stella. Then turn around and get angry that his dieing would have left Via without a dad; when his abusers set up that up. They're just two incompatible things.
Yes the divorce hurts Via.
But Stolas staying would hurt her more in the long run, because Stella was always going kill her dad.
Stella decided her child's father needed to die for embarrassing her in front of her rich friends.
There would always have been something that Stolas did that would have been enough for Stella to decide he should die.
Like there's always something about that an effeminate gay character would have done that pissed these people off, enough to demand he is the misery sink, forever punish by the plot, and dies for it.
I think this is the heart of their issue, Karen.
She is designed to be answer to the question of 'what if someone like Stella, hiring IMP to kill someone like Stolas?'
Because the assumption by them was always that 'for the right money, Blitz would do the job'.
We can also read this scene were homophobic Karen, decided by herself to read the queer romance story, written by a queer creator that they made for their own enjoyment.
And when she obviously doesn't like it; Karen blame the art, calling it trash, and saying it didn't do anything for her... 🙄
Well yer, no shit Karen. It wasn't written for you.
You could have just not watched the show in the first place if you know you hate queer people in love.
Getting this far in, and complaining about it is kinda on you.
Seeing as Blitz has been acting very into Stolas since episode 2, and admitted his feelings to himself by episode 6.
Put simply Sinsmas has some very clear messagea to homophobes:
That Blitz and Stolas are in love with eachother, and they both want to raise their daughters together.
That if you're rooting for Stella to win, or for Stolas to die; this just isn't the show for you. This isn't a show that's going validate bigotry.
That Spindlehorse are making art for themselves and a queer audience.
If you like that, awesome! If you don't that, you don't have to make yourself watched the free show on the internet.
But seriously, if you aren't enjoying something anymore, it's best to dip out. So you have more time on something you like or love.
Don't let the sunk cost fallacy take all time and enjoyment out of your life. 🙂
