                             NOT A day went by when she didn’t think of matthew, wondering how he was and what he has been up to. she knew she could have just easily reached out to him, but she had been too busy and too caught up in enjoying the perks that being famous gave her. he still looked amazing; so handsome that it made her heart swell within her chest. no one else was able to make corinna mitchell’s heart speed up like this... ever. she’s had flings here and there, but she never had the same chemistry with them as she did with matthew. “i almost forgot that you are a simple guy,” she smiled softly. unlike her, who had wanted bigger things and to achieve greater things. “i’ve been okay... uh, i’m just here because it’s harley’s parents’ anniversary,” cori answered, referring to one of her bandmates and best friends. “what have you been up to, matt?”

              she  tried  to  so  hard  to  let  him  do  right  —  whatever  it  may  be  that  he  sees  as  right  ,  even  if  it’s  not  at  all.  then  again  ,  he  doesn’t  owe  her  anything  and  he  never  has.  there  were  no  regulations  to  this  one  sided  relationship  that  only  existed  in  her  head.  or  maybe  there  were  to  maddie  ,  the  reason  she  sometimes  felt  this  overwhelming  need  to  allow  herself  to  hurt  over  niko  being  because  he  went  against  these  unspoken  regulations.  that  was  never  fair  to  him  and  this  entire  connection  they  had  as  a  whole  was  never  fair  to  her  either  ,  and  still  ,  she  allows  herself  to  be  swallowed  completely  by  this  unfairness  in  hopes  that  he  never  fully  slips  away.  alert  after  alert  ,  the  other  does  so  well  to  give  whoever  he’s  currently  speaking  to  on  the  phone  all  the  attention  maddie  feels  she  currently  deserves.  that’s  why  he  came  over  ,  isn’t  it  ?  to  make  things  better  and  show  her  he  was  sorry  ?  with  the  way  he  avoids  her  gaze  and  smirks  down  so  shamelessly  at  the  screen  of  his  phone  ,  maddie  doesn’t  feel  very  reassured.  “  so  that’s  it  then  ,  i’m  guessing.  ”  it’s  her  turn  to  tuck  away  her  attention  as  she  picks  fretfully  at  the  polish  on  her  nails.  “  you  came  and  said  sorry  and  everything’s  fixed  ?  at  least  that’s  how  you  think  this  goes  ,  right  ?  ”
