neither hiyori nor ikuya seem like they’d be very verbal in expressing their love, considering their personalities. imo they would do little things for each other, like this, and look really soft, which is actually what they do in canon, awww

Love Free! Week, Day 2, Prompt: How did they overcome their greatest challenge?

Pairing: natsunao

ANGST ALERT. This is part of my theory that Nao’s eye injury got worse in high school even though he had surgery. Eventually it got to the point where it would never be fully fixed, and Nao would never be able to swim competitively again, which is why he decided to become a trainer instead of a professional swimmer. Natsuya couldn’t handle the idea of never being able to swim with him again in the same way, which is part of why he fucked off and became a nomad, escaping his feelings. Then he comes back, wishing he could swim with Nao again, and Nao has to remind him that that era is over and he has to move on so that they can move forward in their relationship.

IDK I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT THESE TWO. I was originally just going to do my “rare pairs” for this event but this prompt screamed natsunao at me so here we are.

500 years late let's go!

Prompt: How do they say I love you?

They start the day slowly, limbs fumbling in the dark as Makoto reaches to turn off his alarm. Sousuke squints into the lamplight until he can make out makoto's face, sees green eyes meet his as a warm hand smooths over his hair, “Good morning Sousuke.”

Makoto’s voice is rough with sleep as he lifts himself up from their bed, covers pooling at his waist. Sousuke chuckles, “It would be a better morning if you hadn't set a 7 am alarm on a Sunday.” Makoto's hand stills in his hair as he looks away, cheeks flushing “ I didn't mean to leave the alarm on...”

Sousuke sits up to pull Makoto into his side; leeching some of his warmth, grin spreading across his face “Yet you still do such a good job taking care of me. Now, if you have nowhere else to be, come back to bed” the last part is whispered against Makoto's neck, Sousuke chuckling at the small shiver that runs up Makoto's spine.

His grin widens when Makoto reaches to turn the lamp off before leaning into his side, kissing his jaw softly, and pressing him back into bed. “I love you” and it’s so soft Sousuke almost doesn't hear it, but he does feel Makoto’s face burn against his shoulder feels his own face heat in return. He wraps the blankets back around them, “I love you too.”
