Just wanted to drop you a line to say that I loved your hamlet stage direction ideas regarding the hamlet/horatio/ophelia relationship. Just reading and imagining it was very moving- performed live it could be horrifying in the best of ways.
oh gosh, thanks very much!! in my opinion, that trio has the most intense relationship in all of shakespeare’s groups of three (rivaled only by romeo, mercutio, and benvolio)
Hi! So, re: your reblog and tags of the feminism & religion post, um, care to share? I'm a Catholic feminist at a kind of conservative uni and unless you're a gender studies or theo major that kind of thing doesn't really get talked about (to the detriment of our campus, in my opinion). Could you maybe post some of the resources you mentioned (like, at some point. no rush)? Thanks!
YO OKAY I LOVE TALKING ABOUT THIS.
first off, DESCRIPTION OF BIASES: i'm coming at this from a Protestant (specifically Wesleyan-Arminian) background and belief. i'm also coming at this from a liberal/democrat (i don't really like to label my political beliefs cause i hate both sides but they're probably closer to my thoughts) perspective and a america-centric perspective. the same for my sources. i'm sure there are feminists that are Catholic, but i've just not done the research cause i'm not.
i really only have three sources, but these sources are FULL of other sources so if you follow the rabbit holes, you'll get a lot of people's opinions.
FIRST: http://juniaproject.com
this is the blog that taught me it was okay to be a christian feminist. it's great. they have blog posts (from various theologians and experts) about everything from history to ideology to language breakdown. (i'm seriously considering naming one of my children junia or julia cause of this blog.)
SECOND: http://rachelheldevans.com/blog
ughh i love love love rachel held evans. she's amazing and she tackles really hard topics including feminism and the lgbt+ community from the context of scripture. (she's an advocate of both.) also i got to hear her speak and meet her a while back and it was amazing i love her she's sweet.
THIRD: http://sarahbessey.com
i've linked you to her website but i would really really recommend her book "Jesus Feminist" for a great resource. she's absolutely incredible and i loved the book.
all of these are pretty sound sources that are well-known and respected in the Christian circles i run in. obviously, no one's perfect and this might not be exactly what you're looking for, but it's a start.
go and be a feminist.
(also if you want to start a discussion on campus, you could talk to your uni about hosting a forum or something like that. they might be willing.)
Heeeey, so I was randomly looking at a Buffy blog and I found your Buffy/Angelus fic 'Empty churches with soulless curses' , and realized I recognized your name from Jon/Sansa stuff, and then proceeded to Ao3 to try to bookmark the fic because I have an unhealthy B/Aus thing. But it's not up there, so wanted to ask if maybe you could post it there next time you have free time? I really liked it :)
Yay! I'll make a note to do that tomorrow. :)
loveloquacious replied to your post: “engineering students who tell me that my workload is easy and my...”:
I'm english and finance, and the order I say my majors in totally depends on who I'm talking to. And I never bother justifying my choices to people I don't actually know or care to know.
I usually say my English major first just because I like to see the look on people's faces. I've sort of given up on justifying it. It's just stupid because someone who used to sort of be my friend and knew my educational path was making fun of me on Twitter and talking about how he had it so hard and I was just sitting there like "....no...." and then someone different posted in our class of 2018 Facebook page about how Arts majors were't as difficult as STEM fields and I was just like ".....no.....not at all....."
