Clark is busy guarding my cube at work! He won’t be “home” until after Halloween, at which point I’m sure Polk will scentmark all over him :D

I quit my frustrating job and moved to Chicago to be closer to my family. I went to PrideFest and got lots of free swag including a baller rainbow hat! I'm slowly applying to jobs, even though it's frustrating and I browbeat trying to get individual insurance into submission and set up not just a doctors appointment, but got a referral and advocated for my own medical care! I also went outside yesterday to walk on the lakeshore.

THESE ARE ALL SO GREAT, not just that you’re looking for a new job but that you recognized all the ways in which your old job was frustrating you; sometimes the temptation to embrace the misery we know rather than risk the unknown can be overwhelming, but you overcame that and recognized what you needed! Chicago is a wonderful city and I’m so glad you’re closer to the people who mean so much to you, and who can help and be helped by you when it’s needed. Giving yourself the care that you deserve by going out into the (probably pretty hot) sunshine and also advocating for yourself is honestly something to be proud of every day, because it means you’re investing in your own well-being. And congrats on PrideFest, that sounds amazing and I’m SO JEALOUS about the baller rainbow hat!

I was at the protest today in Charlottesville, it was my first one but I just couldn't let it slide, as a Jew and as a human being. I got a little pepper sprayed, and had to flush someone's head wound out with water cause they hit by the car, but it was so satisfying. Can you kiss Elly for me?

It’s not anything to be anxious about! You should definetely look into, but it’s all part of the ritual - Jews question, and when you say “I want to convert” they will question you - it’s not a rejection of you, it’s a chance for you to argue with the rabbi - here’s why I want to be jewish, let’s talk it out and here’s why I want to learn. The rabbi doesn’t want you to leave - they want you to succeed, but you gotta argue about it man. That’s what Judaism is all about.

I totally get that but lmao my anxiety is still gonna be like “OKAY COOL BYE FOREVER TIME TO DIE” about it. Ugh I gotta work on that. Plus I was Catholic for way too long, and Catholic’s aren’t about arguing lmao.

Don’t be surprised if they try to make you seem unreasonable though. They also expect you to put in extra work for less or no pay, so hold firm.

I’m primarily offering to help them out and keep that door open, but I don’t actually need that extra income, especially since I’m getting a raise at my full time job and am cultivating more free lance work, so if they’re assholes about it, I am completely comfortable with walking. :)
