I understand that the anglo-american culture is low context, so there people tend to rely on spoken language over everything else.
But certain Sonic fan seems to go as far as reeling exclusively on spoken language alone.
For example when certain Anglo Saxon American SoJ purists (but not only them) show piece of dialogues and use the spoken words to judge the character and to tell that 'the character never changed since day one'.
(Certain is bolded because if you think you fit the SoJ purist but you don't do that, then you're not mentioned in the post).
I'm not referring only to SoJ puristys but also on other kind of Sonic fans who are champions in missing context.
If you look at why in that moment a character said that specific phrase, the perception of the character is totally different than when you just look at what the character said.
Certain pages of IDW comics seems really made with those people in mind. It is annoying since I love to see rather than being told, but I guess is necessary if more and more people can't get it.
High context version.
