does fucking frustrate me whenever people act like [insert an asian or north/african language] is uniquely incomprehensible to the anglophone mind. like i saw a post that went “it is really hard for english speakers to learn arabic, sometimes the difference between a technically correct sentence and an actually correct sentence is just vibes” so fucking for real with me right now. every single language on earth has vibe nuances that native speakers will intrinsically know and understand but won’t be able to explain. people will go on and on about keigo in japanese being impossible for english speakers when english very much has a formal register of speech with vocabulary and grammar you wouldn’t use casually

and the idea that north/african & asian languages are uniquely complicated and indecipherable is very much rooted in racism and we would do well to fucking. quit it
