Alright, I finished the layout for the Hero's Cookbook today, and I made a few very important decisions:
Instead of multiple categories for ingredients, there's one "Ingredient Profiles" category, and each page in that category will feature multiple ingredients
I've cut down on the repetitive recipes; so instead of "Fish Skewer" and "Copious Fish Skewers", we just have "Fish Skewers", and instead of Meat, Prime Meat, and Gourmet Meat variations of the meaty meals, it's all condensed into a high quality meaty recipe.
Snacks have been redistributed throughout the meal-type categories to bulk them out
There will be both a physical and digital option, with the digital option being not just a downloadable PDF, but a fully interactive PDF that will allow you to click tabs to get to each section, click on specific recipes to jump to that page, and fill in different sections for yourself if you have a PDF editor like GoodNotes, Xodo, etc.
At it's current layout and with these choices to consolidate, using only the recipes available in game, the Hero's Cookbook has 125 recipes.
So my question is, should I include additional recipes that aren't necessarily available in game, but would make sense given what Link is able to create, or should I leave it at 125? I'd love to get some opinions from potential readers/buyers.
I don’t know what my point is with this post, just... some of my fav Sidon bits from the Vah Ruta battles ahahah
Look at this sweet young man, finally allowing himself to form a bond with Ruta and go to battle together. So polite but sincere... it only takes him like 3 moments to get comfortable with Ruta and go back to his usual proud and confident Zora Prince persona hahaahhah
Also it’s interesting that -in Age of Calamity- Sidon is the only one of the Champions’ successors to pilot a Divine Beast all on his own, it gave us some more insight on why only certain people can “control” the beasts, why it’s easier for the Zora in particular and how straining it can be for the pilots.
I know in English he sounds comical and simply inconvenienced by this “workout”, but in the original he’s more like ready to pass out (which is why Mipha answers back in an alarmed tone).
"Haa... haa... operating a Divine Beast is so hard/tiring...”
First time doing this, fed a Divine Beast his spiritual power for like 12 hours straight for two consecutive battles, managed to pilot Ruta all on his own during the assult on Akkala... all while being emotionally compromised, too. Kudos to you, sweet prince.
Anyway, posting some more quotes under the cut. There is nothing more hilarious to me than Sidon prompting Mipha to do big property damage XD
Aren’t you tired of being nice
DON’T YOU WANNA GO APESHIT
“I can’t remember how any of these Sheikah techs are called but you know the one. The laser that does The Big Murder”
Same as with Mipha, Sidon and Ruta together are both incredibly adorable AND terrifying and I love it so much lol. Aggressive driver Prince Sidon is one the funniest things in this game I swear.
My friend @4n0da recently linked a website showing the origins of all the names in BOTW. And a lot of them are....interesting.
(translated through google)
First of all, I’m going to put aside how scandalized I am over nearly all the Rito being named after cooked chicken parts.
You see, for the longest time I thought I had Sidon and King Dorephan’s names figured out, Sidon being short for Poseidon and Dorephan coming from the Japanese pronunciation for “dolphin”. Couldn’t get Mipha figured out, but big brain moment otherwise, right? Real proud of myself.
Except it turns out I’m completely wrong. The Zora are named after musical terminology, and the royal family in particular were derived from this musical scale:
Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do
Find them yet?
Do Re Fa= Dorephan
Mi Fa = Mipha
Ti Do = Sidon (’Ti’ is roughly pronounced as “chi/shi”)
It’s actually pretty genius and I’m kicking the ground as we speak for not catching the obvious a lot sooner.
Jacob: I like this one flower called "silent princess"! They're really pretty, and just look elegant in the light! Oh! I also really like chamomile flowers!
Vlad: I always take a fondness to White Chrysanthemums, I also like dried lavender.
