Well, pets, just a wait! - Episode 1 (Part 2/2)
The second part of my LPS 2012 and Masked singer fanfic for @littlest-petshop-2002-2026 and @rakoon-with-a-k !
"Are you okay?" Russell asked Zoe, who was lying under the tree. "I was so scared for you when you almost drowned!"
"I'm fine! It's just a shame the stunt didn't work out," female dog lowered her head.
"Let's take a break and film it all again," male hedgehog sat down next to his friend and began eating cherries.
While friends decided to take a short break, Roxie was up to her mischief again. Unsuspecting Vinnie in outfit of DJ, and Penny in lilac beach outfit were building sandcastle when someone threw a ball at them. The ball landed right on the sandcastle, and it crumbled before the gecko and panda's very eyes.
"What?!" Penny blinked.
"You!" Vinnie turned his head in the direction the ball had come from and frowned, spotting the culprit.
Brown-and-white puppy noticed Minka in stripped purple-and-white beach outfit licking fruit ice on stick. It's ice-cream which is made from various types of jam. After looking around, Roxie walked over to the chaise lounge where blanket lay and tore off a small piece of thread from the fabric.
Hearing a faint whistle, Minka looked up from her ice-cream and saw a banana hanging on a string in front of her.
"Wow!" monkey laughed and began reaching for the banana, but she couldn't because banana kept bouncing up and down.
While Minka was trying to grab the banana, Roxie bit off most of the fruit ice, leaving the monkey with only a small piece. Minka was able to take banana, but turning her head back, she saw that only a little bit of ice-cream was left, not counting the stick.
Roxie sat down on the chaise lounge next to Pepper.
"This one's taken!" female skunk spread her paws.
The puppy didn't listen to her - she just sat and nibbled on dried fruit from bag that was lying on the nearest table.
"Get down from here quickly! Sunil is sitting here!" Pepper warned.
Roxie didn't even listen to her.
Sunil came up to the shout.
"Get out of here!" mongoose ordered, but dog only covered her ears and mumbled something unintelligible, sticking out her tongue.
Sunil didn't hesitate – he abruptly lifted chaise lounge and Roxie rolled off. Puppy rolled several meters across the sand and hit a lamppost.
Rubbing her back, Roxie noticed Zoe and Russell resting under tree and quietly crept up to them. Having settled comfortably on a branch, she began quietly lowering the noose down onto the two animals.
"Russell, look!" Zoe gently shook her friend's shoulder and pointed her paw at the noose.
The hedgehog grinned slyly and began throwing cherry pits directly at his enemy. Roxie gasped in pain and clutched her eye, dropping the rope.
"What the..." the singer's hunter barked, but didn't finish because Russell threw the pits at the bully again.
The dog giggled softly at the bully, who had closed her eyes, covering her mouth, and Russell pulled a peach from his shirt and handed it to Zoe.
Roxie opened her eyes to make sure everything was calm, but at that moment Zoe threw the peach pit at brown-and-white puppy, and she fell into her own noose. The branch bent over and crunched under Roxie's weight.
Russell gestured for his friend to move away from the tree, and Zoe nodded. She left, and the hedgehog lay down under the tree with his back to the sky. Roxie shuddered at this. The branch broke, and Roxie fell right on top of the hedgehog, filling the area with a loud cry.
"Did you hear that?" Penny asked her friends.
"What was that?" Minka looked around worriedly.
"Something's wrong here!" Vinnie stamped his hind paw.
"Zoe, did you hear that scream just now?" Pepper turned to female dog.
"Someone fell on Russell," was all she said.
"Get off me, you filthy spiky thing!" Roxie jumped and shook her whole body, trying to shake the hedgehog off, but the spines were firmly lodged in dog's body.
Screaming and flailing her paws, the beach troublemaker ran until she found himself next to an umbrella stuck in the ground. Roxie fell on her stomach, struck hard.
"Russell, we're going to help you!" Pepper and Penny ran to the hedgehog and helped him free himself.
"Did you see how I pricked her?" the prickly creature giggled. "Now she'll know how to contact me!"
"Since she got what she deserved, we can start filming," Zoe wagged her tail.
"I've got an idea for a stunt - I'll jump from the diving board right into Sunil's boat as he passes by." Penny turned to the hedgehog, when everyone had taken their positions.
"That's interesting idea!" Russell approved of Penny's suggestion. "Climb up the diving board! When Sunil approaches, Minka will give the signal. Only then will you jump."
Penny winked and climbed the diving board. While she was climbing, Roxie rose to her paws and saw Penny at the top of the board. She grinned slyly and climbed up.
"Let's go!" Pepper sang, and Russell began filming.
Sunil started the motor, and the boat took off. Zoe, sitting on the platform, gathered her thoughts about the performance and clutched the rope in her front paws. The rope tightened, and the singer raced across the lake on water skis.
At that moment, Vinnie began playing a melody on the synthesizer, and the dog began singing "We'll be alright". Roxie climbed the tower just as Sunil's motorboat headed toward it. Minka waved her paw, signaling Penny to jump.
Panda leaped from the diving board and landed right in the boat, which was being piloted by mangoose and skunk.
Roxie tried to jump too, but couldn't, as the board kept hitting her. At one point, the board hit her really hard. Roxie flew across the entire beach and landed right on the sand.
Russell continued filming the four friends flying across the water, while Vinnie played the synthesizer. When Zoe was ready to finish singing, Sunil turned the motorboat toward the cameraman and stopped right at the shore. The three of them disembarked, and the dog, on water skis, came ashore and bowed.
"Incredible! Cut!" hedgehog shouted, ending the filming.
"Great job, guys!" Minka applauded.
"We did it!" gecko ran his finger over all the keys of the synthesizer.
"The amazing video for Zoe's new song is ready!" Pepper rejoiced, wide-eyed at Roxie, who was trying to open her eyes.
Female skunk had an idea and called her friends to tell them about it.
Roxie approached the wooden platform and saw Zoe sitting there. She was completely oblivious to everything. Roxie crept up to her and touched her fluffy tail with one finger.
"Hello!" female dog turned her head toward troublemaker and smiled modestly.
This pleased Roxie a little.
"Where are all your friends?" she sat down silently next to Zoe and giggled.
"They went home."
Zoe thought that Roxie wanted to talk to her, but suddenly the smile on her muzzle turned to alarm. Roxie's mouth dropped open and her sharp teeth bared. Zoe remembered the rope she had been holding the whole time. She threw the noose at the enemy and covered her eyes with her paws.
A few moments later, Zoe opened her eyes and saw Roxie flying across the waves. She whistled, and Vinnie, Sunil, Minka, Pepper, Penny and Russell approached from behind a nearby tree.
"Our plan worked!" female dog laughed and glanced at the boat, driven by Dima and Socrate. Beaver and meerkat waved to seven animals and swam across the lake, followed by Roxie, without her water skis.
Noticing beaver and meerkat, Roxie turned her head back and shouted at the animals:
"WELL, JUST… A… WAAAAAAAIT!!! Oh, noooooo!"
