Lycanthropy Reformation Institution
Werewolves are viewed as dangers to the general public, so the Lycanthropy Reformation Institution (LRI) is dedicated to capturing werewolves in captivity until they’re either deemed safe enough to be released or, in many cases, put down. Lycanthropy is a virus with no known cure, so while this method may seem harsh, it’s the only way to keep werewolves from being a threat to society without exterminating them entirely.
There are many jobs affiliated with the LRI, but the main ones can be boiled down to handlers, hunters, and leaders/supervisors.
Hunters are the ones responsible for going out and tracking down werewolves to capture them. While there aren’t official separate roles for different hunters, there is definitely a distinction between junior hunters and senior hunters. Generally, newer hunters have less involvement with the reformation process itself and are only in charge of bringing werewolves in, therefore not always having a good understanding of what actually goes on in the institutions. This isn’t unintentional, as the LRI is very careful about who knows what as to not risk company secrets being revealed to the public.
Handlers are those actually responsible for reforming the werewolves, being assigned to one or more werewolves and acting as their sort of “trainer” for lack of a better word. To be considered for the position of a handler in the LRI, you must be affiliated with the company for at least 5 years. Handlers work very closely with company secrets, and they do not want to risk those secrets getting out.
Guards are in charge of securing facilities in the case of rogue werewolves.
Commanders are higher-ranked individuals among the LRI and are responsible for supervising specific branches of a facility (groups of handlers, hunters, guards, etc.). They also help run things if the main supervisor isn’t around to do so, and are the main options to take over in the case of a supervisor dying/retiring.
Directors/supervisors are those responsible for leading and making executive decisions for an institution. Any extreme courses of action requires a director’s permission. One must be affiliated with the company for at least 8 years to be considered for the position, but it often takes longer.
The LRI takes their duty very seriously. While their methods may seem questionable on the surface, they believe them to be the best way to keep society safe. They don’t go in depth about their method of reformation, even to many members working there, as they don’t want to risk their company recieving backlash and getting taken down. Any members of the LRI who threaten to reveal company secrets are forced into silence one way or another.
Characters affiliated with the LRI will be posted soon!
