He’s not really a people person. He’ll try to avoid people for the most part, so trying to be friends with Axe is almost like cryptid hunting: You’ve got to be at the right place at the right time and have the right approach and even then, your chances are low at keeping a conversation going. However, if you have a cat or really like cats (or animals in general, but cats are his biggest weakness) you’ll earn his trust just a little more. Eventually, he’ll begin to hang around you more often and the two of you can talk about cat stuff. He’ll consider you a close friend when he’s comfortable crying with you. I mean, being emotional in general too, but the biggest sign is when he cries. He hates to cry. It makes him feel weak and vulnerable and he hates it so much. So when he does cry around you, it’s almost like a sign that says “I trust you with my life.” He’ll be when he first cries around you, since he’s not sure how you’ll react, but over time, he’ll be more open with you.
Crooks is a little shy, but he’s trying to be more open and extroverted like he was before. The Underground changed him, sadly, so he’ll never fully be rid of his anxiety. So, when you first met him, he probably approached you first, thinking that you’d be the most comfortable person to talk with. He’s very sweet and you two can become fast friends! He doesn’t like talking about his life in the Underground. I mean, neither does Axe, but Axe is a little more forward with it than Crooks is. Crooks would rather try to suppress the memories. So when he finally feels comfortable with you, he’ll talk to you about his life in the Underground.
There’s two scenarios where you could be his friend: the easier route, where you’re one of his “regulars” and over time, he likes your company and it’s a freinds-with-benefits sort of relationship or the harder route, where you try to be friends with his traditionally and he’s been trying to hook up with you. Route 1 will definitely be more easy for him, as he’ll get to know you very quick and the like, but being personal will be difficult. He won’t open up to just anyone, so you’ve got to be pretty impressive if he ever opens up to you. Once he decides that you’re a close friend, he’ll lower his guard around you and the play flirting will sort of die down a little. He’s able to be serious with you and sometimes invites you over just because.Route 2 will be more difficult. Why talk to him if you’re not interested in his “profession”? He’s not exactly a friendly person at first, but if you’re persistent, you kind of grow on him. He thinks it’s kind of cute. He’ll tease you and pinch your cheeks a lot when you’re being stubborn, but you’re a good friend to tease. He’ll open up to you eventually, but it’ll be slower than route 1.
Being friends with Kat is super easy. Kat is already a very outgoing person and he’s such the biggest sweetheart! He’s probably going to approach you first, just due to his nature. Everyone knows Kat! They know he’s the biggest sweetheart in the Underground. Now, unlike the other Papyrus personalities, Kat doesn’t like confrontation. He won’t get into a fight and will try his best to reduce tension if he senses that a fight is going to break out. However, if you’re a close friend of his and you’re in danger, he will fight for you. He refuses to let any of his friends get hurt. The fact that he’s willing to face his fears for your safety should speak volumes to how he views you as a friend.
He’s scary. You sure you want to make the first move towards friendship? Cuz Lord knows he’s not going to make the first move. He doesn’t know how to start a friendly conversation in the first place. He’ll probably scare you off the first few interactions, but once you get to know how he behaves and how he actually feels under that hard front he puts out, being friends with him will become a little easier. Being friends with Black means that both of you have each other’s backs. You aren’t afraid to call him out on things and he won’t hesitate to call you out either. You two help each other improve and grow. Being CLOSE friends is going to take a very, very long time. Possibly years. You’ll know when you two are close friends when you can pick on each other and banter with each other like siblings.
Rus is... Tricky. On one hand, he’s easy to talk to. On the other, he has his own issues that he’s trying to work with. He’s good to chat over a cup of coffee or just for general chit-chat. However, trying to get close with him is going to be really difficult. He’s been hurt by people before and he’s hurt people in turn, so he’s really careful on who he allows in his personal bubble. Once you’ve shown that you’re not going to hurt him, at least not on purpose, or you’re making an effort to be honest and open with him, he’ll open up too, bit by bit.Being close friends with him will be a long journey. Possibly a couple of fights, just due to the unavoidable chance of miscommunication, but after some time, he’ll finally be able to treat you like a sibling. Meaning he’ll finally be comfortable being vulnerable with someone, emotionally and physically. Of course, he’ll be a pest with you too, but that’s just how siblings are with each other.
Wine is very choosy when it comes to choosing his friends. Being friends with him also means being friends with Coffee as well. If you have a problem with Coffee, you have a problem with him. He’s generally easy to get along with, but if you want to be friends with Wine, you have to be mature. Not always, but he doesn’t want to feel like he’s babysitting someone either. So you can be childish sometimes, but just not all the time. If you want to be close friends with Wine, you have to communicate. He needs to know that he can trust you with anything. Be open and honest with him and overall, don’t try to actively start drama.
Coffee will not approach you first and if you try to talk with him, sometimes he might feel overwhelmed and will excuse himself to be alone. So the two of you might have to speak with each other through messaging/letters. Once he’s comfortable around you, he’ll be able to talk with you longer and he can lower his guard more.Once you’re friends with Coffee, it’s actually kind of easy to be his close friend. He’s actually a pretty good at judging one’s character and he’s good at picking up if you mean well or not. He’s a good observer. A sign that you’ve become his close friend? One) He’ll let you borrow some of his games and Two) he’ll kind of be physically affectionate with you. He doesn’t give hugs to just anyone, so when he hugs you, take it seriously.
