God, La Terreur et la Vertu is so good. So good. I just revisited part I, Danton, and oh, that bit at the end... If you know your history, then you know what's coming. And even more than that, seeing Jean Negroni's facial expression, you become convinced that Robespierre knows what's coming.

He's heartbroken, and he's terrified, and he's trying to stay strong for the Republic that he hopes against hope will survive, and for Saint-Just who reminds him, hand on his shoulder, of his duty to that Republic, and for his brother and Le Bas and Couthon and the Duplays and all his friends, but he's also filled with an existential dread that doesn't just encompass him and those he loves, but which extends to the continued existence of the Revolution itself.

The other day I rewatched La Terreur et la Vertu part 1 and I was wondering whether Lindet really went to warn Danton about his imminent arrest or whether it was just the directors' artistic freedom.

Does someone know anything?
