Summary: Tarrlok teaches Korra how to track her prey while on a hunt.
................
“I can’t believe you’ve never caught a lionseal on your own.”
“Shut it.” Korra said to Tarrlok as they hid behind the mound of snow. Korra sat nervously watching the area as if waiting for an enemy to appear.
“How am I to give you advice if you won’t let me talk?” He reasoned.
“They won’t ever get here if you keep talking to me in that carrying politician voice.”
“So sorry my lady.” He whispered and brought her left hand to his lips. “Is there anything you yet to know about how to catch a lionseal?” he said kissing her hand and stealing a glance over her knuckles. Korra snatched her hand away, but her other hand that was holding a club got notably looser. Her knees would have buckled at his gaze if she hadn’t been sitting on them.
As Tonraq and Senna’s only child, it was a custom that she catch a lionseal on her 18th birthday. The rule usually applied to only boys, but being a tomboy, Korra had wanted to take part in it ever since she was little. The week Korra was coming of age, she asked Tarrlok to accompany her south to capture one and bring it home to her parents, as was tradition. Korra had hunted with her father before, but never on her own and when asked Tarrlok would go on and on about hunting trips up North. Korra decided if anyone should come with her to give her advice, he should. She’d left Naga, who probably would have taken her lionseal down for her.
Tarrlok and she had grown much closer than Korra ever expected in Republic City. He knew her better than anyone and though she’d feared this truth early on she’d come to accept him and love him all the more.
“How do I stalk my prey?” she asked him, but continued to look beyond their snow fort in search of the lionseal. She was nervous that she would miss her opportunity. In some villages, coming home without a lionseal brought shame on one’s family. Korra’s community of course didn’t have that practice in place, but regardless she didn’t want to come home without a seal.
“You’ll want to take off your boots. Your wool socks can stay though since they won’t make much sound. More importantly.” He paused and the tone of his voice changed. “You’ll also want to know the animal. See through her eyes; know what she’s thinking.” He caressed the side of Korra’s face he could reach and gently pulled his fingers down to the part of her exposed neck until his fingernails rested on her collarbone. “You are the predator but you must know the prey if you wish to catch it.” She gasped silently as Tarrlok cupped her chin suddenly.
“Please Tarrlok” Korra grabbed his hand and pulled it from her neck, still looking out into the white snow.
“Once you know what she wants.” He leaned closer to her ear, ignoring her lack of interest. “Let her have it.” Korra did not respond but Tarrlok felt her shiver beside him, as if reliving an intimate memory. His voice went back to his instructional tone. “In this case, the lionseal wants a fish. So the spot you’ve chosen is ideal.” He gestured to the ice hole just beyond them. “You’ll just want to wait until she’s fishing.” His voice lowered again. “Once she’s distracted her guard will be down and she can be caught easier.”
“Good.” Korra breathed out, her heart was still beating ridiculously fast at Tarrlok’s innuendos, but she sensed his directions were over.
“Then you can come up behind her with your net”, and before Korra knew what was happening Tarrlok went behind Korra and spooned her. “And she’s caught.” He tightened his grip on her, but Korra did not try to escape.
“Is that how you caught me?” she tilted her head up to look into his powerful loving gaze.
“Pretty much.” He smiled down at her, a gleam in his eyes. She turned around in his grasp until they faced each other. He leaned in to kiss her and she kissed back matching his pressure. He pushed her down into the snow and leaned over her in his dominating way.
“And once the prey is caught, you feast.” His smirk came back on and Korra blushed deeply in the snow. His broad shoulders put her whole body in shadow. She was in a prison she had no desire to leave. He pushed her shirt up and started kissing her tummy, traveling up her body.
“A-aren’t I supposed to be the predator today?”she stammered, but Tarrlok pretended not to hear her and went on unbuttoning her pants, leaving kisses at every exposed portion of her body. “We should not be doing this now. I got to catch a freaking seal!” But she spread her legs anyway in anticipation.
“I can’t help myself. That’s the predator in me.” He caressed her opening and she gave a deep sigh. “I also just like seeing you flustered and cold.” He smirked and bent the snow around them to make a stream of cold water twirl on her tummy soshe twisted her body involuntarily. Her body opened for him. She pulled at his shirt, demanding more contact.
“Stop teasing.” She muttered annoyed.
“Sorry m’lady.” He kissed her hand again before going between her legs, but a sound made both of them freeze. The water hole splashed. Tarrlok sat on his knees and looked out their fort window. “Korra get up.” He said softly. Korra did, but as she went to look out the fort window with Tarrlok she heard the squeal of a lionseal. Korra started to pull on her pants, but Tarrlok stopped her. Instead she stepped out of her pants and boots, quietly to prevent scaring away the creature.
“Just go!” he whispered fiercely shoving the club and net in her open hands. Korra took inhaled softly and walked around their mini-fort, shivering slightly since her legs were bare. The lionseal was definitely distracted. It kept sticking its head under the water in attempts to get some fish. It was fairly large, but not the largest she’d seen. It would have been far easier to just make an ice fence around the creature, but waterbending to restrict an animal in a hunt was frowned upon. She stepped slowly towards the large creature but it didn’t seem to sense her presence. It was a good thing she’d followed Tarrlok’s advice and taken off her noisy boots.
She looked back at the fort where Tarrlok had his head sticking out of the window, his face showing his thrill for the hunt. Tarrlok obviously wanted to help her badly, but he remained where he was. This was her hunt, he could do nothing else to help in the capture. Korra turned back to face the creature and deciding she was close enough, she threw the net over the animal. The wind caught the net and it fell halfway on its back, alerting its animal instincts. Its head swung up out of the water and its lion paws clawed the air in front of it. Korra swung her club to its knockout point but she missed. The seal was already on the run, leaving Korra and her net behind. Korra bent the snow in front of her to make a faster way to follow him. Then she skated on the ice until she caught up with its speed. She hit him again and this time he went down.
Tarrlok skated to where she was and tossed her the fallen net. “You did well.” He folded his arms in content. “But we should probably get your pants back on before we bring this seal back. I would rather not explain that part of the story to your dad.” Korra pulled her jacket down to hide her panties embarrassed, but Tarrlok just laughed at her futile attempt and handed her the deserted pants he’d picked up.
“You make a fine predator, but I prefer you being my prey.” He growled and pulled her to his chest.
“You are such a perv.” She pulled away, but a shy smile stayed on her. He kissed her cheek. Korra slid her pants back on and put the lionseal onto an ice path with bending so they could walk after it.
“We still have time for a quickie.” He whispered in her ear as they started walking in the direction of the fort and the way home.
“I’d rather not chance it while we got this seal to deal with. He could wake up at any time.” Korra said sighing.
“Alright.” He said disappointed. “I’ll just have to find another time to get you to myself.” He fondled her bottom and she gave him a playful shove.
“And when you do I think I’d like to try being the predator”, she narrowed his eyes at him and for a second Tarrlok was speechless. Then he laughed. “I’d like to see that.” The two predators held hands on the way back home as Korra brought home her prey proudly.
-----------------------Author notes.
I enjoy writing about dirty old man Tarrlok too much. You just read 1529 words. I'm sorry for lying to you. If this stinking thing would scroll properly i would have edited it correctly. It wasn't easy adding my 20 words either had to cut and paste it all on a document so sorry if there is a text change. Sometimes I see problems here in the post box but they disappear once they go to my profile/get posted. o.O
