Amos fiddled with his tie as he waited. He still wasn't sure exactly why he'd put his name in for this. It just felt like something he would be expected to do. That wasn't the only reason of course. Although he did often have one night stands, he wanted something more. Whilst he had Laurel, he equally didn't have her at all. He wanted something real. He looked up as he heard someone approach, and let out an amused laugh as he saw Lucille appear. Not that she wasn't absolutely stunning, that seemed to be a common trait with the Jones women. But she was Lucille. He knew her well enough to know that kind of vibe didn't exist between them. She would be great company though so it wasn't a loss. The Ritz was somewhere Amos knew he could shine so it would be a fun evening. He could still treat Lucille like the elegant woman she was. "Either you know something I don't or this Grizel woman isn't as good at her job as she makes out" he joked, giving her a friendly smile "still you can have a peak into the Diggory date experience if you want, i'm all dressed up, so might as well have some friendly fun"

Angst Please

5. After two years together, your muse proposes to mine. My muse rejects the proposal. 

Ned felt good. He felt good about this decision. The black velvet box sat heavy in the suit pocket while he sat idly in the chair he seemed to not really fit in. He was a little too tall to keep his legs tucked under the table comfortably enough. He needed to stretch them out, which would probably be awkward for her so he tried his best to pick a position and stick with it before she came. 

Even though he felt excited, it was overwhelming how nervous he was as well. He kept on touching things like the tablecloth or his tie, or the glass filled with water, and even the silverware. 

When she finally joined him, he made a fool of himself by standing up and nearly knocking over the table. After the clattering calmed, the both of them sat down. That nervous and quirky smile not leaving his mouth, even as she asked why he was smiling. He couldn’t tell her. He couldn’t do anything except for that one song to start playing. 

The band a few tables away started it slowly, as it waiting for Ned to be ready. It was the song they had first started talking to. One sung by several people, but their version was Dooley Wilson. When he realized what was happening his heart leaped in his chest and as he blabbed some feelings, he slid from his chair. Slowly and cautiously fished the ring from his pocket and got down on one knee. 

Unfortunately, when he did that it was easier for the unseen force to cut off his head. Figuratively speaking. She didn’t look happy. She didn’t look excited. She looked embarrassed. 

Denial kicked the wind right out of him.
