"Oh," Crowley said, with a dark laugh, "very familiar."

He couldn’t read minds, but he could read people. She wasn’t being entirely truthful with him, but she was being truthful enough, He leaned forward in his seat slightly, smirking at her.

"I’m well aware of Moose’s tastes," he said, amused. "And his rather rocky relationship with his brother. They never brought you up, though. Are you that dark of a secret?"

Hell, she’d admit it. Crowley was likeable. She found herself smirking in return.

"Dear Dean didn’t want anything tarnishing Sammy’s reputation any further. So for a while, as long as Sam kept quiet and I stayed out of sight, he allowed it." Her voice dropped to a growl on ‘allowed it’. She wished this part could be a lie. Dean had acted the puppet master the whole time. But now, Annabel would pull the strings.

She shrugged it off after a moment. "And when you can skip town to a different year, it’s relatively easy to go unnoticed."

"Squirrel likes keeping his brother on a short leash," Crowley remarked. It was his dependance on Sam that made him so week - existing without his brother was a crippling idea to him, whether or not it was plausible. He wouldn’t be the first human to exhibit love through possession.

"That would be interesting." Of course, skip a year in Crowley’s case and Hell would be in shambles, and Abaddon would be careening about killing everything. That was the thing about being King of Hell - there were no breaks, ever. You defended your position with tooth and nail, or you lost it. "Well, darling, if what you want to do is throw a wrench in the Winchester plot, then you have my blessing. Relatively speaking."
