Hi, I'm Lucy Dan and we return to eggsistential cry-sis programming today.

I just realized I just realized that I no longer need to buy them, because every time there is a secret Santa exchange, or any kind of holiday gift exchange, I get socks. That or fancy bath products. To the regular outside world who does not know of my solarpunk, egg, and tofu love, I am but a bland person to give standard gift sets.

Now I realize, this commitment to authentic connection is just as much the practice of speaking up, as it is of listening in to my own reactions.

It anchors me because to solely focus on a Medium readership feels like a losing game. It doesn’t mean that you, dear Medium reader, are a losing game. It’s just that Medium serves a niche population that actually doesn’t represent the rest of the world, and if I were to solely carve my living wage out of this pie, I would not survive. The Medium algorithm alone would leave me in the dust. It’s the mixture of different audiences, different income sources, and different platforms that make who I am as a writer.

It’s through the magic of words craftily sewn together in the voice of a writer that we get to experience something as if we are them. While I would normally not be found on a sunny day, outdoors, because sunny days are the worst for allergies for me, this quote itself piqued my interest - what if?
