Alix of Hesse and by Rhine (1872 - 1918)
Alix Viktoria Helene Luise Beatrix was born on 6 June 1872 and was the fourth and youngest daughter of Louis IV, Grand Duke of Hesse and by Rhine and Princess Alice of the United Kingdom.
She married Nicholas II, Tsar of Russia who was her second cousin and she converted to Russian Orthodoxy, taking the name Alexandra Feodorovna. She had 5 children and as she was an hemophiliac, she transmitted the disease to her son, Alexei.
After the Russian Revolution, she and her family were arrested and murdered by the Bolsheviks at the age of 46. She had the same fate with her sister Elizabeth.
