Halfway to Amarillo (2023) Writer's Block the Hard Way
The 2023 comedy western Halfway to Amarillo shows us writer’s block; the hard way. Hard writing, hard whiskey and two hard guys who want to settle a score. With the writer. Halfway to Amarillo the Story Michael Coleman is writing a western tale. He runs up against writers block just as his two main characters are about to meet. Michael hits the whiskey and ends up meeting his two gunslingers…
‘Color bravely spoke its voice into the void, creating a twisting, turning creature which found itself shaped by the push and pull of new molecules. A creature which would spark both terror and temptation, both faith and fealty, within the humans yet to make their beings known in this tumultuous explosion of matter and anti-matter.’
From ‘Journey of the Rainbow Serpent’, retold by Nartana Premachandra, included in our current issue: SAINTS & SINNERS. Read the full story on our online archive!

Book Review: Square Eyes
The story explores ideas around identity, reality, memory, and freedom. As the back of the book itself says: In a city built on digital illusion, who really holds the power?
While the story and concepts are interesting, it is truly the art that brings them to life. It’s outstanding. The level of detail, use of colour, the overlaying of reality with the digital world, the digital interfaces, the use of negative space.
