Rats in a tube
We said goodbye to Luna yesterday.
Went to the vet today...(Luna Update, more sad news)
The doctor told us we can't do anything else for her but try to keep her comfortable & give her medicam to help with pain & swelling until she is visibly uncomfortable/unhappy, then... well, you know... He's pretty sure it's a aggressive cancerous tumor... it's grown back within only a couple weeks so I know we won't have long... we did try our best. What's worse is on the way there she had a seizure, then shortly after we got home she began to have more every few hours so far 😥 We are hoping she has had her last one for the night so we can call the vet tomorrow to see what to do next, we both agree we don't think the stress of going to the emergency vet will do anything to hell her. It's so scary to watch her go through that... If you could all send Luna good thoughts/vibes/prayers to help her get through this with the least pain possible... Also, thank you so much to those who have reached out with support, it really means a lot & I just really appreciate your kindness.
Bad news... 😢
Found a firm lump on Luna today, on her genitals. I don't know why it's grown so fast, she hasn't even grown back much of the hair from her last surgery.... I really can't express how deeply & horribly sad I am right now. She is just the perfect little rattie. She is always so happy and bruxes every time I take her out & loves to just chill on my shoulder & melt my heart every day. She's everything I ever wished for in a rattie and all this is happening to her when she has only just turned 1.5yrs this month. She deserves more time. It isn't fair. The vet is closed but we're gonna have to go again.... I was hoping we wouldn't have to go for a while.... Also, I didn't take the time to write a big post as I was planning about Arya but she had a uterine tumor she actually pushed out, which we found out at the emergency vet we went to at 2am for him to tell us to take her to our regular vet in a few days to either do surgery or say goodbye, so we decided we had to get that removed as well because she is still very active & happy, so we had a second rat with a surgery as well & she is now on antibiotics. Yesterday was Luna's last dose if meds & Wyatt reminded me we need to check her so I did it today & found a firm lump around the size of a dime & was obviously devastated. After 2 surgeries and probably around 5 months of visits to the vet, this fucking thing is still trying to take her from me. It's just not fair and I'm just really upset. Life is fucking cruel sometimes.
She's recovered from her second surgery & hopefully no tumors will come back!!
Luna has been on antibiotics for almost 2 months now & still has an infected uterus and a bit of a URI, she was on Baytril, then Amoxicillin+Baytril & now Cephalexin+Baytril to try to clear up her lungs enough to be safe for surgery. She is getting spayed Friday so we can get rid of the infected uterus. She should have at least a year to a year and a half with us & I want every second I can with her.
