Things were... uncomfortable at first, needless to say.
Fox had never felt like he was replaceable in his life, but now that Drew was in the picture... he didn’t know what his place was anymore. He was still friends with Vance, of course he was, but things were just... different. Not in an overtly bad way, but not... great, either. Having to sit around the couple while they flirted in the way that high schoolers did was enough to make bile rise in his throat, and he couldn’t help but feel empty whenever Vance would ditch him after school to wait for Drew to finish soccer practice. It was going to be a difficult journey of acceptance for Fox.
However, as winter rolled in, bringing with it the anticipation of the winter holidays, Fox slowly learned to coexist with his best friend's new boyfriend. Their friend group was more than happy to welcome Drew to the party, allowing him to sit with them at lunch, join their study groups during free period, and they even went so far as to start attending his soccer meets; all of which gave Fox a chance to slowly toe his way into the unfamiliar waters, as opposed to the huge splash of Vance’s first announcement.
