Shadows danced around Rangi's head. Voices whispered and called her further, further, further away from her house, away from her bed, away from her safety. She didn't realize, didn't know. She just followed where the ether pulled her, bare feet padding on the ground, eyes drooping, staring straight ahead, straight through. Her body moved without her needing to tell it where to go, as if she just knew, as if she'd walked this path a million times.
Moth wings sprouted from her back, allowed her to float, glide along the ground as she drifted along subconsciously, hollow gaze empty and tired.
The visions behind her eyelids played out over and over again, but she didn't really see them, she didn't hear them or feel them. They just existed and they tugged her in every direction, until something solid and real and heavy was latching onto her and shaking her from her daze.
Rangi blinked heavily, the world blurry around her. A figure was coming into view that she couldn't quite make out yet, but a voice was calling to her and despite her body swaying, she stayed standing as she mumbled, "Wha-- where am I?"
And in my twisted face
There's not the slightest trace
Of anything that even hints of kindness
And from my tortured shape
No comfort, no escape
WHEN THE LAST PETAL FALLS - PLOT DROP
The mist rolled in wave after wave. Lightening cracked across the sky as the rain began to beat down against the pavement. Beads of water clung to the wolves fur as they forced to shift underneath the full moon, while the pools the sirens are encouraged to swim in for safety over at the Fae Court would wind up flooded, washing wayward fae out into the streets. The storm would have no signs of stopping. The local weather girl, Elena Gomez-Alvaro, would be featured on the local news the next morning, clutching tightly onto a yellow umbrella as it got flipped inside out and the Nor'easter would continue on as such. The banshee screams from the night before would be chalked up to the havoc of the storm. Lawn chairs would be found toppled over into the street. The papers from the news stands spilled out across the green from the strong winds. But, what the Lunar Covians would go on not knowing is how a life had been taken the night before.
These were the worst dreams, but they typically ended as she woke, freeing her from the grips of the past. This dream clung to her tighter, constricting her throat and stuttering her breath. Unbeknownst to her, she was in the process of paying the price for the dark magic Rohan had plucked from the universe. A waking nightmare she realized in the dark of her empty room. She'd been unable to scream, to see clearly enough to even call for anyone when he returned, Julian, a small and not insignificant hope that at least the end would not be had alone. The magic had its demands; the consequences had been given to her now, at least it would be over soon had been a common thought in her panic. Briar-Rose Reed's mortal heart thumped for the last time in the arms of her boyfriend. And like the tolling of a bell calling mourners to the end of life, the curse had been paid, and the rest of the Coven was safe again as the life of Briar-Rose Reed, the witch, was over. In fewer minutes than it took for her life to begin and end the first time, Briar would draw her first gasping breath into her new beginning as an immortal vampire.
(Shoutout to L who wrote the indented part of this post :) )
Briar-Rose Reed would be dead by morning. The bright flower would breath their, one might even say poetic, last breath. As many in town already know, perhaps of presumption or hubris, the former coven witch, Rohan Persaud, tampered with the thin veil between the living and the dead to bring Todd Miller back. The spell to save Todd's life, would in turn, cast a curse over all of his fellow coven members. One of their lives would be collected by the hands of death as the price to pay for the life that had been brought back. They wouldn't know when or how, but somewhere down the line, a life would be taken. It could have taken years. It could have taken been decades. But, death moved swiftly this time, choosing the stormy night in May to be the date to let last petal fall. Briar, having been readily taking vampire blood as a precaution just in case, would wake up and realize that she can no longer go in the sun. She will no longer age. Welcome to the life of the undead, Briar Reed, and, for the rest of you coven witches, you will soon learn that you are safe. The curse is over. May you all rest in peace.
REMINDERS
Happy full moon Lunar Covians! The above plot drop is completely optional, but if you do want to react to any of the above feel free to.
The Full Moon: The full moon affects werewolves and sirens - werewolves will feel the need to shift and sirens will feel a need to sing/lure passerbys to their death. This also affect Banshees, as they will all be on high alert for any werewolf attacks and, given that there was a death on our hands, feel a need to scream.
This is not an event, so you are not required to participate, but if you choose to, we will be using the tag lunarcovefullmoon6 for threads or any inspo. Please keep in mind that any major plots do need to be approved by the admins, including rogue supernatural attacks.
For Coven Witches: Briar Reed is now a vampire. You will all feel a drain on your magic and weaker as one of your own has been separated from you. Though, you may not know why you are feeling this way.
For Briar: As you have now changed species, it is up to you whether or not you follow the accords and report your species or not.
We know a lot of you are still wrapping up event threads and have a lot on your plate right now, so once again, please, please, please don't feel obligated to react to the above if you are at thread capacity. We just wanted to give a fun plot drop for those new members who have recently joined and for anyone who is looking to dive into post event threads and needed some muse <3
Calling all Lunar Covians - it’s the full moon tonight! This full moon marks the Buck Moon, and during the full moon, it is best to stay inside. Phones around town will be going off at sunset to urge all residents to either get inside or head to their designated areas. Werewolves will need to shift during the full moon (though any pack wolves can head to Echo Acres, where the woods will be theirs to shift freely). Sirens will need to sing (though any fae court members can head to the Fae HQ to be able to swim freely and sing to their hearts’ content in the enclosed pools). Banshees will be on high alert for any werewolf/supernatural attacks and will be more prone to sleepwalking than normal. Dark Magic Witches & Vampires can use this time to perform heightened dark magic (aka blood bending) if they so choose (any Clan members can head to Clan HQ to practice).
Some individual residents are also affected by the full moon. Aaliyah Rose will be shifting into a black cat-like form during the day, and Nyra Odeyer will need to kill (see more individual-specific side effects details here). This is not an event, so you are not required to participate, but if you choose to, we will be using the tag lunarcovefullmoon for threads or any inspo. The Pink Moon rose high in the night sky, casting lunar light on the residents of Lunar Cove below The Pink Moon remained opal in color but it derived it's name from the spring equinox and the themes of rebirth, renewal and growth which Ivy felt the full spirit of as she had died at the beginning of the New Year. She couldn't help the temptation to experience her new vampiric powers in full and even if it brought on fatigue, she wanted to play with the powers of shadow magic and hematomancy and so she conjured a cat made out of shadow who was currently weaving between her legs. Feeling the second presence in the room, she lifted her eyes to find Ewan. ❛ I'm suddenly craving the taste of nachos... haven't desired those since being buried. Fascinating side-effect.❜
Homeostasis is the self-regulating process by which your body maintains internal balance and stability regardless of changes in external conditions. Your breathing adjusts automatically in response to changes in your CO2 levels. Too much CO2 will result in you breathing faster. Too little and your breathing slows. Your body tends to keep itself around 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit or 37 degrees Celsius, and if you become overheated, you'll begin to sweat to cool yourself down. Too cold and you'll start to shiver.
Kiraz hadn't gone to medical school for nothing. She knew enough about biology and statistics to prepare as well as she could for the inevitable change. She had read through the clearly outdated pamphlet with some retro-looking werewolf rocking a Class of 1988 sweatshirt and shutter shades on the front twice over. She had picked enough residents in town's brains on what the shift might be like to know that she'd break every bone in her body, the pain would apparently be excruciating, and she likely wouldn't remember much of being a wolf on her first full moon. The odds were she wouldn't be in control of herself, and there was a 33% chance she'd die, or at least that was the rough estimate she had deduced from the limited information she had access to on the subject. But she had written a will and prepared all morning, nailing chains into the walls and floors of her basement that should be strong enough to hold her theoretically. She had opted for iron restraints, given her roommate hadn't been too keen on the idea of her using silver, which, in hindsight, not searing her skin the moment she made it through the turn did sound ideal even if it put the rest of the town at a greater risk. She knew the potential costs, and yet, knowing what was about to occur could hardly prepare her for when her body's internal system began to collapse from the inside out.

Injected with werewolf dna. Initial symptoms suggest an elevated heart rate (~110 bpm) without exertion. Possible causes include excitement or anticipation. Skin temperature is rising slightly above baseline. Monitoring.
"See? I'm fine," Kiraz flashed her roommate a reassuring smile as she hopped down from the folding table she had been perched on, legs dangling over the edge, as she waited to be injected with the werewolf venom or saliva or whatever the scientists at K Labs wanted to call it. Only now, there was a permanent little mark against her upper left arm from where she had been- Dhruv likely wouldn't be as amused as she was to refer to it as a werewolf vaccine, and technically referring to it as such would be wrong. Vaccines existed to trigger the body's immune system to recognize and defend against harmful viruses or bacteria, rather than the shot she had taken that they were both hoping that her body would embrace. Though it had been rather fun to say.
The mark would scar just as the bite did, and she found herself tracing her thumb over the pinprick of a spot that was already starting to burn. It didn't hurt too badly, outside of a slight tingle. One might say a stinging sensation. But Kiraz had always been good with pain, and a prick from a needle was nothing. Though there were still a few more hours until the moon was out. She had purposely timed it so that she was injected before dusk fell, which is why her eyes couldn't help but widen as she found herself stumbled forward and reached for the edge of the table as her vision began to blur.
April 1st, 17:47
"I'm okay. Really," Kiraz cocked her head to the side from where she sat with her legs criss-cross apple sauce on the floor. She might have caused her roommate and her current scientist/doctor overseeing this little experiment of theirs a momentary cause of concern. Concern that had been understandable given that she was apparently exhibiting symptoms far faster than she should. It had been thirty minutes since she had been injected, and she had nearly fainted as well as experienced an onslaught of other symptoms, from a fever to chills to nausea, and the most irritating of headaches. She asked Dhruv to dim the lights as she moved to lock herself into the chains. And now, they were just waiting. Him standing. Her on the ground, bored out of her mind and tapping out beats against the concrete from where she sat in the loose tank top and baggy sweatpants she had to roll down a few times over to keep on. She knew the clothes would be torn apart eventually, but for now, at least she was comfortable, however uncomfortable her clammy skin that went through waves of feeling as though it was on fire seemed to be. But she was fine. Everything was going to pla-
April 1st, 18:02
"Ah," Her teeth sank into her bottom lip. Her fists gripped onto the cold metal chains so tightly that her knuckles began to turn white. Her body heeled over, and she began to shake all over again. The metallic taste of blood hit her as did her ability hold back any semblance of a sound.
Fuck. She had broken a bone before. Dislocated her own thumbs even- enough times over for it to become a fun party trick of sorts. But, it didn't mean that her entire arm, twisting back at an unnatural angle, didn't feel like any less of a bitch. The full moon still had an hour until it emerged, and yet, three bones had already snapped at unnatural angles, and there were still so many left to go.
"Orospu çocuğu," Her foggy brain switched into Turkish, too distracted by the insurmountable pain to pay attention to what language she was speaking in.
April 1st, 19:10
Her grip didn't loosen. It was as though her fingers had become one with the metal, taut as wire around the chains. The tremor that had started in her shoulder had spread, tearing through her arms in violent and uneven pulses. Her breathing came in sharp and shallow bursts. All too fast at first and then abruptly, far too slow as though her lungs were either misfiring or gasping out for one last flicker of a lifeline. And then- crack. Another bone broke... again. Only this time it was her elbow jerking in the wrong direction, and she couldn't stop the visceral scream that tore out of her mouth.
April 1st, 20:04
Her skin had been in a constant state of burning for so long that she almost forgot what it felt like to not feel as though every nerve in her system was on fire. It was as though her body had forgotten too, as she should've been sweating or in chills, but those both had ceased an hour ago, even as her temperature continued to climb. She could feel the heat and the pressure behind her eyes. The dizziness that crept at the edges of her vision. But her body was no longer trying to correct itself. It wasn't even trying anymore.
April 1st, 20:38
Her breathing stuttered again, before it hitched like something inside her chest had forgotten the rhythm entirely. Her ribs tightened just before one of them gave. A sharp, splintering sensation tore through her, and her back violently arched. Her legs had long curled beneath her. Her muscles contracted out of sequence, locking and releasing only to lock up again. Her vision spun while her hands tried to grip at anything around her. Her nails, now far sharper than she could even realize, carved marks into her palms. The start of claws sliced into her skin, making the pain all the worse. If only she were coherent enough to uncurl them from fists.
April 1st, 21:03
Kiraz's body folded inward with a choking gasp. She couldn't breathe. She couldn't think as another piercing scream torn through her throat and her spine bent back at an ungodly angle. Her vertebrae shifted, one after another, before realigning. Each time her bones would grind into the new position they were meant to hold.
April 1st, 21:--?
Time, for all intensive purposes, had ceased to exist. She couldn't tell you what hour it was, how long she had been like this, or how long she would be. She couldn't even form coherent sentences if she tried. She wasn't even sure how she was still alive. It didn't seem like she was getting enough oxygen, but then again, the fluorescent lights overhead seemed to be spinning. Flashes of reds and pinks and greens and blues danced across her vision until she no longer knew which way was up or down. So, for all intensive purposes, she could've been breathing far too much rather than too little, or could even already be dead. She could hear someone's muffled voice trying to reach her, but they sounded as though they were underwater. The only sound that seemed to break through, likely because it was incredibly loud, was the deep pop coming from some body part of hers that must have snapped again. Her teeth ground together as her bite shifted. Pain radiated along her gums like something was trying to force its way through, and the next thing she knew, she was drowning on her own blood. She probably pierced her own lip as her muscles lengthened, stretching against bones that no longer matched them.
April 1st, 21:--?
Everything was wrong. The transformation was no longer something happening to her, but something her body seemed to commit to fully and irreversibly, until the scream that tore through her lips wasn't much of a scream at all, so much as a howl.
April 2nd, ????
'Eve geldim. Anne? Babacığım?' She could hear her sisters' voices from downstairs. The familiar muffled steps and exclamations as they kicked off their shoes at the back door that led into the kitchen. While she had been upstairs, doodling away at her desk. She had been sketching a butterfly, as ironic as it may be, when a sound cut through her focus. She could've sworn she had heard a crash downstairs, followed by a fit of yelling. Someone was in trouble. The screams might've been filtering in as little more than vibrations, trembling through the floorboards, but she knew it in her gut and-
Cold. The ground was cold beneath her cheek, seeping into her skin from the concrete beneath her. A sharp inhale seemed to drag her back into her body like it had somewhere better to be, but she could still hear them. The taunting and bitter cries of her family ricocheted around in her head like pieces of memories that refused to stay buried.
'Give me back my daughter!'
'A-anne? A-anneciğim?'
'Please, just take us to her! Just tell us where she is. Tell us where Eda is!"
"I- I am y-your daughter. M-mom? M-mommy? Please!"
Kiraz hadn't cried once. Her eyes had remained dry throughout the whole transformation, and yet, when lids finally peeled open to see those terribly awful fluorescent lights overhead, she could tell her cheeks were damp. She must have cried in her sleep or... as a wolf? She wasn't sure. She recognized that she was in her basement, but everything was too bright.
Too loud.
Her senses had been violently sharpened, and every sound around her layered on top of itself, from the faint hum of electricity to the distant creek of the pipes and the uneven rasp of her own breathing.
She was on the ground. She knew that much. She was curled in a ball, on the ground, with damp cheeks. But, for a moment, when she woke up, she had felt like she was a kid all over again, watching her sister pry herself away from her parents' desperate hands as she locked herself in her room. Leyla would be gone by morning. She would've packed up one backpack worth of stuff before she shimmered herself out the window and down the drainpipe. While Kiraz hid away in her bedroom, not knowing what to do, and listening to Safiye shriek at their parents as they took away her phone and sent her to her own room. The last time Kiraz had cried had likely been a month before that day. The day when Leyla ran, and the illusion of the picture-perfect family came crumbling down.
Until now, that is, not that she even remembered it. She didn't remember being a wolf at all. Yet, from the shivers running over her now bare skin, the torn fragments of clothes around scattered around her and the bent and loose nails of one of the chains she had managed to completely pry off the wall, it seemed as though she had been through a hell of a night, and as fairytale curses went, she was bound to be in for a hell of a lot more.
