Luna, Nina, Jim and Yam have a sleepover. They watch movies, they have fun...
... and things get a little fruity. As a treat.
Read on ao3 or under the cut.
Jim, Nina and Yam were over at the Benson mansion to sleep over. They had just graduated from Blake and were celebrating.
Right now, they were in the living room eating cake that Monica had made.
”It’s gonna be weird to not go to school together anymore!” Jim admitted
”We’re still gonna go to the same school!” Yam argued.
”Of course. But Nina’s going away!”
”All the way to the United Kingdom!” Luna exclaimed dramatically, wrapping her arms around Nina.
Yam looked at Luna. ”Oh, wait, you got…”
”What?”
Instead of directly telling Luna she had cake stuck on her dimples, Yam grabbed a napkin and leaned in, wiping it off herself.
”There we go…”
”Uh…”
They only had a few centimeters between their faces. Yam promptly backed off, coughing awkwardly.
“Thanks,” Luna said, avoiding eye contact.
Before it could get awkward, Jim promptly switched the subject.
“So, what movie should we watch?”
“We could watch several movies!” Nina suggested. “If we start now, we can begin a marathon!”
“Yes! Everyone picks a movie!” Luna said.
“I don’t know what movie to pick!” Yam admitted. “I should have brought a dvd with me.”
“You can think about that while we pick someone else’s movie to watch first!” Nina suggested.
“Who wants to begin?” Jim asked.
“You can go first,” Luna said, “I need to think as well.”
Jim smiled. “Okay… cause I want to watch High School Musical!”
“Of course!” Yam giggled.
“The Argentine version or the American version?” Nina asked.
“The American, of course?”
“Is there an Argentine version?” Luna asked. “I know there’s a Mexican version - I actually saw that one first…”
They put on High School Musical. All the girls bopped along to the music. But soon, they also started singing along.
And then came Bop to the Top…
“I did my own choreography for this when I was like 10…” Jim admitted.
“Show us!” Luna said encouragingly.
“I don’t know!”
“Do it!” Yam said, putting a hand on her arm.
Jim smiled at her and then stood up. “Okay.”
As they were performing in the movie, Jim also showed her little choreographed dance. It was very simple and cute, very telling that it was made by a 10 year old.
Her friends cheered and clapped.
At the end of her performance, Jim was gonna do a pirouette, but accidentally stumbled… right into Nina’s arms.
“Sorry!” she exclaimed.
She and Nina stared at each other in shock. Jim practically had her head on her chest, making for a kind of intimate but awkward look.
After a bit too many seconds, Jim finally moved away from her.
They didn’t speak much for the rest of the movie, except when quoting lines.
As the movie ended, they all looked at each other expectantly.
“Who’s next?” Yam asked. “I still have no idea what movie to pick!”
“Me neither!” Luna admitted.
Nina smiled meekly. “Ok, I might have an idea, but I don’t know what you’d think about it…”
“I’m totally fine watching Star Wars if you want to,” Yam said, knowing Nina liked sci-fi.
“Well, the movie I want to watch is more… dramatic.”
“What’s it called?” Luna asked.
“Picnic at Hanging Rock.”
Everyone became almost hypnotized by the movie. As it ended, Jim, Yam and Luna just had their mouths hanging.
“BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM?!” Luna asked.
“They did release an extra chapter after the author’s death,” Nina explained. “You wanna know what it said?”
“Please!”
So Nina told them all.
And they were even more confused after that.
“Okay, let me just give a comment,” Yam said. “I know the movie was released in the 70s and the book earlier than that… but Sara was in love with Miranda, right?”
She looked at Nina a bit unsurely, as if her queer interpretation was too “woke” to have on an almost 50 year old movie.
However, Nina nodded. “All of them are sapphic, let’s be real.”
Yam looked like she had never been more validated.
“Even Mrs. Appleyard!” Nina added. “I think she might have been very repressed, and she took it out on Sara.”
“YES!” Jim exclaimed. “I feel like there’s so much to analyse with this film…”
“Okay, speaking of lesbians… I think I know which movie I want to pick,” Yam admitted. “I don’t know the Spanish title, though I know it’s dubbed in Spanish… but the original Swedish title is… uh…”
“Just say it,” Luna said.
“Fucking Åmål.”
Everyone went silent.
“Does… does that mean something different in Swedish?” Nina asked.
“Nope! Åmål is a town in Sweden, and fucking is the english swear word. The title is in swenglish. The English title is Show me love… because they are cowards.”
“That, or they don’t know how to pronounce å,” Nina noted.
“Anyway! Wanna watch it? We can watch it in the Spanish dub if you don’t want to watch it with subtitles.”
“Sounds fun!” Luna said. “The only Swedish film I’ve seen was that Pippi Longstocking film where she runs away, so it’s fun to see what else they got.”
They all found Yam’s movie entertaining.
“Can I ask something?” Nina asked. “Do you know a lot of lesbian films from across the globe?”
Yam smiled meekly. “Maybe…”
“Could you recommend some to me?”
“Of course! But… any particular reason you want to see lesbian films?”
Nina blushed. “I just… want to research the media…”
“Mhm?”
Nina coughed. “Luna! Your turn to pick a movie.”
“Okay…” Luna looked like she was a bit embarrassed, “Are you up for an animated movie?”
“Of course!” Jim exclaimed. “That’s always fun!”
“Yes, I love appreciating the art behind the animation,” Nina added.
Luna smiled. “I’d like to watch… Lilo and Stitch.”
“Yes!” Jim exclaimed, jumping up. “I love that movie so much!”
None of the girls had prepared for crying tonight, especially not because of Lilo and Stitch out of all movies.
But that scene where Nani and Lilo sat in the hammock and Nani sang Aloha ʻOe… it broke them.
“You know, I’ve always mainly focused on Stitch when watching this film,” Jim sniffed. “But the sisters… they’re…”
“They are the heart,” Yam filled in. “And Nani is the only one who understands her.” She hugged Jim tightly.
“I think we’re too emotional to watch this right now,” Luna admitted.
“It really is a good movie,” Nina admitted. “Especially the commentary with colonialism that I don’t think many pick up on. I hope Disney never ruins it with a live action version.”
“Oh boy…” Luna took a deep breath. “I think we’re all tired now.”
“Yeah… should we head upstairs?” Yam asked.
They got themselves up to Luna’s room, where the floor was covered in mattresses.
Luna threw herself on her bed. “God, I could sleep now…”
“You’re so cute,” Jim giggled. “Especially when you’re sleepy. Oh, that might sound creepy.”
“No, don’t worry,” Luna said, “Everyone’s cute when they sleep!”
They all fell asleep pretty quickly. But after around an hour, Yam woke up. She needed the bathroom.
Her head was fuzzy, and she wanted to go back to sleep, but her bladder was stronger than her brain at the moment. The nearest bathroom was 5 meters from Luna’s room, so it was a quick trip.
As she washed her hands afterwards, she barely could keep her eyes open.
Opening the bathroom door, she suddenly got startled.
“Couldn’t sleep?” Jim asked.
“I can… I just needed the bathroom- woah!”
Jim embraced her, but because Yam was so tired she almost tripped. Jim made her lean against the wall and then kissed her.
“Oh…” Yam said, and kissed her back.
“You’re really pretty when you’re sleepy,” Jim whispered.
“Shut up…” she kissed her on the cheek. “I’m gonna collapse on the floor, I really need to go back.”
“Go then, sleepyhead… I’m gonna go downstairs and get some water.”
As Yam stumbled onto her mattress again, she fell back asleep basically instantly.
“Jim…” she mumbled.
Suddenly, Luna woke up. She had a weird dream, and was trying to process it.
She looked around. Yam was sleeping. Nina was sleeping. Jim… where was Jim?
Luna decided to get up and check.
Jim didn’t find the light switch in the kitchen, and thus she tried to feel herself forward. Getting to the fridge, she opened it and used the fridge’s light to find everything. She took a glass and poured herself the water, and then put the water back in the fridge. She figured she could leave the empty glass on the table or something later.
As she drank, she suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder. She didn’t get scared. Still, because she couldn’t see, she asked: “Who is it?”
“It’s me,” whispered the person.
Jim turned around. She could not see who it was, but it was someone taller than her. It must be Yam.
“Oh… you wanted to sneak another kiss?” she asked, acting smug.
“You can kiss me if that’s what you want,” answered the one she assumed was Yam.
“Oh, you…” She leaned in and kissed her.
Something felt… different, though. It didn’t feel like Yam’s normal kisses.
Maybe she was tired… maybe that was it.
“Thanks,” whispered the voice as they let go.
Just a few seconds later, someone turned on the light.
“Jim? Are you here in the dark?” Luna asked.
“We were just…” Jim looked around, before realizing she was all alone. “Where’s Yam?”
“Yam’s upstairs sleeping?”
“Then… who…?”
Luna snickered. “You know this mansion is haunted? Maybe my mom gave you a visit!”
“Monica?”
“No, my dead mom!”
“I kissed your dead mom?”
“You kissed Yam?”
Jim opened her mouth to reply, but nothing came out. She was caught red handed.
Not that her and Yam were a secret, cause they had no reason to hide it. It was just that it was embarrassing that people knew they were kissing in the middle of the night.
Luna smirked. “Hey… you’re probably just so tired you’re having small dreams.” She kissed her on the cheek. “Go to bed.”
“Are you coming too?”
“I’m gonna have some milk.”
“Ok. See you.”
Luna drank her glass of milk, hoping it would help her get back to sleep.
She heard footsteps coming down the stairs, and turned expectantly.
In came Nina.
“I saw you weren’t in bed,” she said, having her hands behind her back as she walked up to her.
“I had a weird dream…”
“What was it about?”
“I don’t even remember now… I just needed some milk.”
Nina looked at her, and snickered.
“What?” Luna asked.
“You got a moustache.”
“Oh.”
Luna was about to wipe it off, when Nina leaned in.
“I’ll do it for you,” she said as she grabbed a towel.
Luna felt an electric tingle run through her as she felt Nina’s hand gently cleaning her up.
“There,” Nina said. “Oh, wait… there’s a spot I missed.”
Instead of wiping her again, she put the towel down… and then leaned in and kissed her.
“Did you get it?” Luna asked softly.
“Yes.”
Luna leaned against her shoulder. “And Jim and Yam think they’re the sneaky ones.”
“Have they ever been sneaky?” Nina giggled.
Luna kissed her on the lips again, and then placed another kiss at the tip of her nose. “Wanna cuddle in my bed?”
“Won’t Jim and Yam notice it?”
“For all I assume, they’re currently sleeping on top of each other, so they shouldn’t say anything.”
Nina embraced her and kissed her again.
Click!
The girls turned, startled. In the entrance to the kitchen from the dining room, someone stood with their phone.
“Sorry, I forgot I had the sound on,” Ámbar admitted.
“How long have you been standing there?” Luna asked.
“I’m not here,” Ámbar said and formed a wicked smile, “I’m a ghost.”
She dramatically backed into the darkness.
Nina and Luna exchanged a look and shook their heads as they giggled.
