Lush hair care is the bomb!

For everyone with fine hair, listen up.

My hair is super duper fine, which has been a small annoyance I’ve had to put up with for my whole life. I’ve been searching for a product that would help give me more volume (that would actually hold throughout the day), and I didn’t find one until about a month ago when I went into Lush for some facial cleanser and a bubble bar.

Long story short, the woman ringing me up had noticed that I had been checking out haircare products, and she gave me a sample of their Big shampoo and Veganese conditioner, and holy shit my life has been changed forever.

I have volume that’s being held all day, which usually only happens with a curling iron and a sinful amount of professional theatre-grade hairspray. I got about three uses out of a tiny 1oz sample pot, so obviously a little goes a long way, which is really important when the products are more expensive than normal drugstore haircare. Add in that both of the products are vegan, and I’m hooked.

I felt obligated to share this info, and maybe I’ll do some more reviews in the future!!

Have any of yall ever used lush's big shampoo?? I was thinking about getting it but do yall think it would strip colored hair? Like blonde & highlighted regularly? Bc I don't wanna use it if it strips my hair color after I pay to get that done lol but I also want volume

On a positive note, I purchased LUSH's Big shampoo last week upon looking at my hair in the rear view mirror (pre-haircut) and realizing I needed a serious change. I was almost out of shampoo anyway, so I headed straight to the mall and grabbed a pot of Big. With tax, it was about $30, but upon first use, I found that I only needed maybe a quarter-sized blog (if that) to get my hair squeaky clean, so it should last me the better part of a year.

The scent is nice, light, and fresh. It's mostly citrus, which isn't necessarily my thing, but it does smell clean and pretty. The shampoo is a sea salt scrub, so it's comprised mostly of big salt crystals which feel great on the scalp. I've used it three times now and have never found it to be irritating. It lathers up nicely (tip: don't try to work up a lather in your hands-- make sure your hair is soaking wet and apply Big directly to your crown) and leaves my hair literally squeaky clean. Given that it is salt-based, it can be a little drying, so depending on your hair and how often you use Big or wash it to begin with, conditioner would probably be a good idea. (There is a Big conditioner in the form of a bar, but I have yet to try it. Maybe next paycheck.)

The point of Big is to clarify and volumize hair, and I feel like it does just that. My hair is on the thin and limp side, but Big has made it look much fuller, and I'm not the only one who thinks so. I've found that my hair will still look pretty good for up to two days after washing with Big, and even once it gets a little dirty-looking, it looks much less limp than it did with my previous shampoo. (It might also help to note that I do blowdry and round brush my hair for additional volume and because I have natural curls and have gone back to wearing it straight.) I also can't recall a time when my hair ever looked quite this shiny and felt this soft, and my scalp feels great, too.

One of the best things about Big is that it's also vegan. Quality, quantity, cleanliness, and it's cruelty-free. I may never buy another shampoo again.

Lush’s “Big” Comes Up Small

Did you ever buy a product and try so hard to love it but in the end it just wasn't what you hoped it would be? Upon purchasing “Big”, a shampoo from Lush promising to revive limp locks and bring out shine, I had high expectations. The sales clerk had nothing but rave reviews on this hair care item and said that it was one of Lush’s best products. I had already tried H’Suan Wen Hua and I sort of liked it, so I figured, “why not give it a try?”

When I washed my hair that evening, I reached for a goop of “Big” and put it into my hair. It felt like a heavy duty body scrub as opposed to a rejuvenating hair product that promised to banish frizz and liven up locks. Working “Big” into my hair was a project.

                                         There were so many huge salt crystals that made it difficult to work into my scalp. Most of it wound up on my shower floor and the little that did get it my hair was not enough to attain a rich lather. When I attempted to work the shampoo in, I felt as if strands of my hair were breaking off; it was entirely too rough to begin with. And the scent was not at all pleasant; this product would probably be better to wash your clothes with.

After using “Big”, I saw no change in my hair. No luxurious locks, no brilliant shine…nothing. Only the normal hair I had been left with before I spent $24.95.

For now, I’ll take it as a lesson learned and ask for a sample of a product before I make a monetary commitment. I really am a huge fan of Lush but sadly, this one just didn't do it for me.
