Seeing everything he did in his drunken stupor last night, he may be too embarrassed to show his face.

⊰ ♝ ⊱ -- Ever since the games, it had always been as such. The raven, for as long as he could remember, had troubles sleeping... But since he had become aware of his own darkness and sought to fight it, it had become only that much more difficult. The slayer knew exactly why, but refused to acknowledge it in hopes that if he did not give it attention, it would simply leave him be... But that was not the case. Even in sleep, his shadow haunted him, the voices never ceasing until he fell into a deep slumber. Though, this time was different... As he remembered saying goodnight to his twin and his exceed companion, he did not hear a voice and as he laid down, there was no voice to be heard either... Strange, he thought.
-- Had he finally won? His demons within finally growing tired of his will power and refusal? He would hope it was as such, but his stomach still uncomfortably twisted, as though this was just a calm before the storm. Still, with a heavy, exhausted mind, he found it best to take advantage of the silence he was granted to rest heavy eyes as only the sound of the wind from beyond the window lulled him to sleep.... But it was a mistake. He should have known better; it was never meant to be so easy, it was a plan for assault.
-- The dragon slayer did recall falling asleep... But when he awoke he was not in his room, there was no exceed on his chest as his wake up call... Instead, he was standing, in an empty space, void of sound... void of anything other than himself. The light was incredibly too bright, causing crimson hues to strain in pain. It's a dream. He told himself, and in truth it was... To an extent. Currently, his found himself in his own mindscape, blank and void as he was asleep, no thoughts to be processed. Or, so he thought it was blank.
-- Once again, a thought that was fault. Shielding his eyes from the bright light, he heard a sound similar to that of a low sigh, causing him to remove his hand from his forehead in time to see a dark shadow move from his body and extend forward, beginning to rise from the ground. His hands trembled, a dark aura beginning to fill the atmosphere as he took a step back... Another version of himself starting to manifest itself from the darkness ejected from his own body... And then a cynical chuckle ripped through the silence. Once the shadow had fully formed... it was an image of himself, an exact replica... Though it wore a twisted smile rather than his own calm demeanor that was crumbling.
-- The figure did not speak, though his own crimson hues widened slightly, a small step being taken backward as shadow tendrils emitted from the apparition before him. The being did not open his mouth to speak, though an echoed voice could be heard instead of his own head, disembodied and haunting.
『 Why are you so persistent upon ignoring me?
Don't you know? I am you.
You cannot escape destiny. 』
-- Mustering up the courage he had, which was more than he expected himself to bare, he took a step forward towards the being. "There is no such thing as destiny..." This was something he told himself many times before in attempt to comfort himself. "The future can always be changed." Besides, I have a light to guide me. He felt content with his response, but apparently it was only fuel for the version of himself before him, a laughter from the other growing that was crushing the courage he had found. When it spoke, his voice was smooth... up until the very end.
『 How optimistic and cute of you, Rogue.
I'll take away your light. Your guide,
Your love and what you protect.
You won't remember anything... 』

-- Before a retort could be mustered, the beast before him launched forward, releasing the shadowed tendrils previously looming over him directly into the slayers skull. The sheer pain caused him to release a curdling scream, feeling as though his very essence was being drained from him. The raven fell to his knees, hands reaching upwards to grip at ebony strands, tugging hard as though trying to pull out whatever parasite was unleashed inside his brain. His breathing became erratic and pained groans and small wails filled the emptiness along with that disgusting laughing that echoed in his mind.... And slowly everything began slipping as the pain increased.
The images of his smile with his father vanished before him.
And of Frosch being hatched...
The friends he had made in Fairy Tail.
It vanished from his mind. All of it.
-- A final image began to play through his mind, making him forget the excruciating pain for a moment as what was most important to him began to blur. Unwelcome tears began to stream down his face as his body trembled, a shaking palm extending forward, as though he was reaching out to the fading image of the smiling blonde he saw before him.... Sting... Sting...!
"STING!"
-- He shouted, screaming as the image of him faded, the shadow figure becoming part of him once again as his vision went dark, only hearing the laughter within a now blank mind before passing out from the pain... Or rather, waking up.
-- Tear filled hues opened to see a worried look of a blonde stranger looking down at him... Confusion struck him, chest heaving as he breathed. There was a cat... two cats... Where was he? "Who..--" His words were cut off as the agonizing throbbing in his head caused him to pass out from the pain, where he lay asleep and silent for three days as the darkness within began eating away at every memory he possessed.
