As much as I loved the first book this second book was even better. It blew my expectations right out of the water. The journey of these characters and who they ultimately became in this book was amazingly written. Seeing Katy coming into her new powers and dealing with the fact that she’s now changed into something new was indescribable. I think we can all relate to this when we grow up and change into who we want to be. But, watching Daemon struggle with all the changes was hard. I as the reader really felt for him when Katy and Blake’s relationship grew although they were only practicing her powers. Blake’s betrayal in this book while understandable was heartbreaking. I truly wanted Katy to be able to relate with someone and I felt for her in the end. All she wanted to do was help, and that in turn caused Adams death. While I never felt connected too much to Adam I loved the growing relationship between him and Dee and when he died my heart hurt for her. Bethany popping up in the story line was a big surprise for me. I just knew she was alive but, I didn’t think she’d be involved in the way she was and the fact that she seemed to had lost her mind. Will bring the bad guy at the end was a bit of a surprise but not too much. I was a little suspicious of him while reading shadows, and my hunch was completely right although I didn’t think his involvement was that extensive. I was all in all amazed at Dawson’s return in the end and am excited to see his role within the next book. I loved this one and I can’t wait to read more.
