@lvncher gets a smol starter!
“unacceptable,” percy begins, shaking his head as he takes a sip of tea. he’s been in the quiddith wing all morning, moaning about the loss. “absolutely unacceptable. how does ireland just -- ” perhaps his love of quidditch is the most fascinating thing about him. “lynch, perhaps you can talk some sense into your former coach, because i’m still just -- in shell shock about last night’s loss.” okay. okay, he’s being a little dramatic.
Post Hogwarts AU.
arc #2. you can’t outfly a rogue bludger ;
Post-graduation, Basher follows his passion onto the Quidditch pitch as he’s signed onto the Appleby Arrows as a reserve beater. Initially on a probationary period due to his hotheaded record during his sixth and seventh years on his house team, he works his arse off to prove he’s more than a suspension waiting to happen. ( He wasn’t sorted into Hufflepuff for nothing ). Despite his childhood dream of playing for the Wimborne Wasps ( huge fan of Ludo Bagman as he was ), Sebastian quickly finds himself at home, easily making a name for himself as his penchant for picking off Seekers as they close in on the Snitch follows him from Hogwarts onto the professional pitch --- Basher both in name and in skill. There are few Seekers agile enough to outfly his Bludgers, notably Aidan Lynch, his former house team captain ( and, now, Irish National Team Seeker ), with whom he would join for post-game drinks after every match up between the Arrows and Ballycastle Bats. He’s forced into a sabbatical mid-way through the playoffs in ‘96 when a Death Eater attack in London leads to the news of the death of Basher’s best friend, flatmate, and walking conscience, Russell Taylor-Wescott. Never one with a healthy handle on loss, Seb finds comfort at the bottom of firewhisky bottles until Pippa enlists the help of Bill O’Conner, his co-beater, to aid her in getting him off her sofa. It’s a long road to recovery tinged with bouts of hotheaded lashings out and several not-quite-official warnings spaced just long enough apart that he narrowly avoids suspension, though he is kicked off the pitch no less than three separate times through the 1998 regular season. He’s finally back in top form ( or as close as he can get ) to steal a victory from the Chudley Cannons that summer... not that knocking their Seeker into the stands was much a challenge. He’s got many ups and downs in the following years, the highs of wins stolen in the final seconds of a game ( not to mention his father’s passing only months after having disowned his only son ) tinged with the lows of more drinking, illegal duelling clubs and gambling on matches, all culminating in his retirement from the pitch, mid-season, a week and a half shy of his 31st birthday.
@lvncher liked something for a starter!
“Oi, Lynch!” Lily’s voice carried across the courtyard, turning from her friends (who were currently half bickering, half going on about how in love with each other they were) towards the hufflepuff He was a decent enough person, she supposed, but his skills on the pitch were what she admired. As Gryffindor’s seeker, she wasn’t exactly awful, but she recognized greater talent when she saw it. But still --
-- “Can’t wait to play you on the pitch next week. Still time for you to call off sick, you know.”
aidan and cho on 14 february 2021, in one of their many universes... // a vday gift for @lvncher
no capes.
@lvncher requested a starter: shelter
For all the lightness the aluminum bat offered, Cho couldn’t quite shake the heaviness in her legs as she inched closer toward the bedroom door. Aidan had gone out to the corner store just an hour ago--- “be right back,” he had called out, throwing on a zip-up and sneakers--- and of course it would be just her luck that the one time a break-in happened at his apartment, he wasn’t even here. She’d turned off all of the studio lights at the first sound of someone in the bedroom and had used the time it had taken her, dashing from switch to switch, to think of anything.
The hallway closet, filled with Aidan’s various sports gear and miscellaneous pick-up equipment, had seemed the best place to look for something.
As the intruder crept soundlessly from the window sill to the foot of the bed, Cho could make out a broad figure and faint hints of red and blue, backlit entirely by the city night. Her heart thumped louder, the feeling seemingly pulsing throughout her whole body, and she exhaled, tightening her grip on the bat’s handle.
Rolled her shoulders back. Squared her form. Kicked the door wide open and swung.
