“no, listen to me, jinyoung-ah. dude. hey. hey — you’re not listening to me. hear me out. hey.” minseong’s voice is thick, wavering between desperate and defiant, like a kid whose trying to show his mother the tooth he'd just lost for the tenth time that day. his fingers twitch, trying to grab jinyoung’s attention, but the football player’s eyes stay glued to his phone, scrolling like he’s watching paint dry on his for you page.

minseong’s cradling his blackout rage gallon in his lap on the couch with because he’s definitely had more than his fair share and cannot for the life of himself find his balance if he tries to stand — but hey, someone’s gotta finish this tragedy. “you have to try this. makes all the stress just, like, disappear, you know? you don’t get it, but that’s why i’m here. i’m the pioneer. the legend.” his words slur at the edges but the conviction is ironclad.

a red solo cup appears in his hand and squints into it like he’s reading tea leaves — all signs point to disaster. even in his drunken stupor, he doesn't think the cup has been used, so he gives the younger male a heavy pour and sloshes it ungracefully against jinyoung's pec, a tiny drip of lukewarm this has been sitting out way longer than it should've been left out of the fridge orange concoction spilling on the younger's shirt. "shit. fuck. my bad." no remorse and the crooked smile of a man who has never once faced a consequence in his life, minseong lifts his cup to force a toast.

"cheers, you filthy animal. i hope you guys absolutely annihilate seoul national tomorrow. their 2Ls are dickheads — almost got into a fist fight with some dude at a bar in annam-dong about fucking liebeck vs. mcdonalds. that shit was before i was even alive and they're still going on about it over there, apparently. she got THIRD-DEGREE BURNS, jinyoung-ah. to. the. bone. her skin melted. and they wanna act like she just spilled a little latte on her jeans?"

given the prestige of the university, it’s no surprise that yeonhwa has a couple of famous figures as students. seolran doesn’t care much for the rich and famous, but she does love the stories that surround them and their lives. the truth is that seolran does not purposely seek jinyoung out. the world just favors her and puts him in the same spaces she inhabits. especially after she decided she would reveal his secrets. case in point, the fact that he's eating alone on campus, the one day she decides to have lunch from the canteen.

does she even know if he has any secrets worthy enough to go on her blog? well, no. but fishing around for secrets never hurt anyone. (it's also hard to believe he wouldn't have anything hidden in the closet with his reputation.) admittedly, her job would be easier if he didn’t pretend that she was a stranger every time they talked, but she’s not one to back down from a challenge. she’d find out all of his secrets eventually. one way or another.  

seolran adjusts her grip on the tray so that she’s holding it in one hand. she plasters on a bright smile, walks up to his table, and uses her free hand to pull out the chair directly across from him. the tray goes down with a slight slam, and she unceremoniously plops down on the seat. “hey there.” seolran says with a little wiggle of her fingers. “i hope you don’t mind indulging a big fan. it’s such a busy day, and there are no more available seats.” it’s a lie of course. a quick glance around the cafeteria would reveal the plethora of empty seats, but seolran doesn’t care. “so,” she says, folding her hands together and resting her chin on top of them, “how’s today treating you?”

the tone of her mother was curt, like a snake's venom poised to cut off her limbs. agatha took the phone away from her ears for a moment of reprieve, and with a sigh she spoke softly.

"mother, you know i'll be busy. i'm the vice president of the student government, plus i'm working for ms. park all throughout the summer, i won't have time to leave."

her mother's shrill voice interrupted her. "why are you bending your back over someone else like this? is your father not sending you enough money?

"no- i-" bewlidered, agatha didn't have to think back to the last time she saw her bank balance to know that it was still very much full with a couple of zero's to boot, "that's not it, mother. i'm doing this for the experience."

"why so? you're coming back here in singapore after you graduate anyways, isn't that correct?"

she wanted to hit her head on a pole. agatha heaved the books she had in her arms while adjusting the phone on her ear. three out of the four books being about the basics of korean football and understanding how the game works. she was never the kind to not put her all into something and today, she actually got to spend time at the field, following the team's captain with a camera and a mic.

"mother, i have to hang up first," she said, completely dodging the question. "i'm about to meet a client." agatha didn't wait for her mother's response before dropping the calls and proceeded towards geum gym.

agatha could already feel her blood pressure getting high as she gets closer to the doors. the more she thinks about dealing with yoon jinyoung today, the more her stomach fills with dread. not when her first conversation of the day was with her mother, that told her all she needs to know about how today was going to go.

if she was being honest, working with jinyoung hadn’t been all that bad. she’s actually enjoying the content she's made of him thus far, and the pride that swells in her chest whenever a post of his goes viral for a couple tens of thousand views was an irreplaceable feeling.

the job was supposed to be easy. it was the kinds of things that agatha was getting straight a's for. cultivate the perfect image of a student-athlete, make him relatable to the masses (however much a rich kid with famous parents could be relatable) and ensure that any negative whispers are stomped down, any hater comments are reported. but with everything that's going on, she felt as if she's in a spiral staircase only going downwards. the offer was too good to refuse with agatha was getting a good line on her resume and a recommendation out of it. so she puts on a dazzling smile and greets the cashier at the smoothie shop with glee.

"two mixed berry smoothies please," she said as she shows her student id that confirms that she's part of the tennis club then fished out her phone to text the golden boy.

back to our roots present, filming studio written for yoon jinyoung (@lxckystrike)

it is just like any other day for hera.

it is currently seven in the morning and while filming doesn’t start till nine, hera already has her hair and make up done since an hour ago. she sips her water from a straw as to not ruin her lipstick all while her two hair stylist fusses over her hair at the last minute.

“does anyone know if jinyoung’s here yet?” she asks to no one in particular before leaning back from her seat to catch the gaze of her manager. she remembers asking her team to treat her friend kindly. not only did she ask the pd to not give him such an early start time (not as early as hers at least) but to also give him as much grace as possible. given that jinyoung probably isn’t used to the full set up of a production as she is, she wants him to be comfortable since she is the one who asked him to come on the show in the first place.

it is no surprise that the two would reconnect once they enter university. hera was even expecting it when she found out that he would be coming to yeonhwa a year after she did. and for years now, she avoids questions related to jinyoung like a plague. but the less that people know, the more they claw for information and hera thought that by showing off their friendship now would finally tone down any and all of the rumours at once. the clips of them as kids professing their love for each other, hera in particular, still goes viral whenever one of them tops the news headlines.

she’s surprised that he even agreed to all of this but it is a favour she won’t forget. after finally getting some information out of her manager, she hurriedly exits her trailer to head to the guest’s ones where jinyoung is apparently getting his hair and make-up done. with some hair rollers and pins still in her hair, she pokes her head in to see how he was faring. a chuckle already bubbling from her chest while imagining the look on his face.

she raps on the door three times before waltzing in with a small smile. "please don't make him too handsome," she says to the staff, "i'm sure many of the viewers will fall for our guest today."

003 — yarn catch (inventing a new game?) for jinyoung ( @lxckystrike )

genuinely, she should probably stop hyperfixating and going so crazy whenever she finds some new craft to get hyperfixated on because her closet is a nightmare to sort out, but jiahn can't help herself if she's honest. there's too many interesting things to do and too many interesting new skills to learn and what if one ends up being a good business idea?

therefore, she's coming back from her stop in yeonnamdong where she's gotten probably way too much yarn, and she's heading back to the b612 building so she can start learning how to crochet. she's probably spent way too much money on a hobby that might not even stick around but hey—that's what experimenting is for, anyway, right?

and crochet things are a huge trend right now and jiahn's gotten fixated on learning how to make some floral coasters.

she actually pulls out her phone while walking, opening youtube so she can find the video she had been watching under the premise of maybe watching it enough times will commit it to memory and then learning will be a piece of cake! (or something like that) (she doesn't even have a photographic memory ...)

so preoccupied is she that she doesn't remember that she's a walking disaster half the time and can't be trusted to walk straight the other half, and she trips.

she has enough presence of mind as she falls (mentally, in slow motion) to grip onto her phone so it doesn't fly out of her hand and break but the other thing that she's holding, a whole bag of yarn, does fly out of her hand.

to where? only god knows.

(in reality, it unfortunately flies directly into jinyoung's face.)

at twilight to jinyoung (@lxckystrike)

seolran makes it a habit not to cry in front of people. especially those she's not particularly close to. the thought of being vulnerable enough to let someone get a glimpse of her true thoughts and emotions leaves an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of her stomach. despite her efforts, she finds herself in this very predicament. eyes filled with tears in front of an acquaintance? friend? she's honestly not sure how to accurately describe their relationship, but all she knows is that he's not someone she would want to see her cry.

but the scene in front of her always evokes tears: as twilight falls, the timeline of the two main characters intersects. taki desperately running to find mitsuha at the shrine. mitsuha doing the same. it's a love story that transcends space and time.

she wants something like that for herself.  

not wanting to draw attention to herself, she discreetly brings a hand up to her face, wiping away a stray tear. she takes the chance to glance over at jinyoung, wondering if the movie is affecting him the way it’s affecting her. she feels a flash of annoyance when she sees his rather blank stare; leave it to a meathead jock like him to not understand the true brilliance that is the kataware-doki scene of your name.

she turns her attention back to her phone, leaning closer as mitsuha gets ready to write her name down on taki’s hand—and the screen goes black.

“what the fuck?” she whispers, angrily snatching her phone from where it sits perched up on the mini table. she taps the screen with more harshness than necessary, as if doing so would magically make the movie reappear. she knows she's being irrational, but she feels as though the black screen with the empty battery icon is mocking her.

after a few more seconds, she turns to face him, tears still her in eyes. “ugh, my phone would die at the climactic scene. it’s a long shot, but would you happen to have a portable charger on you?”

moment of truth ft. yoon jinyoung @lxckystrike

sera scans the crowd waiting for the bus, looking for a very specific someone. she’d woken up a few hours ago, with a splitting headache and very vague memories of the night before. she remembered kiwoo, searching for clues, something about stolen magnifying glasses? though as the hours passed, and she managed to get some food down (mostly due to olivia insisting it would make her feel better, and — begrudgingly, she’d been right, though sera wouldn’t admit it to her), the memories started returning in bits and pieces. 

at this point, she’s got a pretty clear picture of exactly who she’s looking for. she’d asked olivia to join her to wait for the bus early (well… more like she’d practically dragged her roommate here), and has been camped out for well over an hour now, carefully considering each student that arrives. no luck so far, but she knows he’s bound to show up at some point. 

she’s scrolling on her phone (only briefly distracted, she swears!), when olivia’s shoulder bumps into hers — whether by accident or on purpose, sera isn’t sure — causing her to look up. that’s when she sees him. their eyes lock from across the parking lot, and sera practically shoots up, nearly dropping her phone in the process (it wouldn’t have been the first time she potentially broke her screen protector). without as much as another word to olivia, she starts moving towards the other end of the lot, marching through the increasing crowd of people. she barely notices any of the people she’s passing, attention solely focused on her target. 

“you!” she calls out once she’s within range of him, running the last bit of distance, accusing finger pointing at jinyoung’s chest once she makes it over to him. “you’re the thief!” her neck arches to look up at him (why is he so annoyingly tall? and she’s not wearing heels for once, making the height difference even more jarring), eyes squinting as she gives him an accusatory look.

gotta go fast with @lxckystrike post bonfire capture the flag game

minhyun should have stopped drinking about three hours ago. not that anyone counted or cared, he didn't either. situations like these were his bread and butter, it was what he knew best. a good amount of tipsy and debatable decisions made.

which is exactly how he ended up playing a game of catch the flag, in the almost pitch black, and most definitely not sober enough to keep up or see properly. he has lost count of how many points they had. were they ahead? were they behind? he couldn't tell, but he was having the time of his life with this game. the university should think of more events like these on campus, he would join without the alcohol involved. 

anyway, this was fun. or it was because he finally got the flag for himself and was doing his best to manoeuvre quietly and somewhat sneakily, around the course and failing miserably. maybe it was all the grumbles and swear words that were leaving him, or the fact that at times he felt like the ground was shifting under his feet- he should have stopped drinking hours ago- but he is doing his best effort to not actually get caught. which, to his credit, he doesn't get caught for the majority of his sneaking around.

he sees someone in the not so far distance heading in his direction, so he ducks behind a barrel, he thinks its a barrel, he can't exactly tell. he stays there, for way too little time and decides he can get back up and leg it. he is, however, unlucky. the person that was headed in his direction hadn't passed him yet and most definitely sees minhyun get up from his hiding stop. it;s a guy, minhyun can tell that much, but he legs it as quickly as his still tipsy state allows him. 

he also makes the insane mistake of looking over his shoulder to see what was up with the other guy, only to be greeted by someone sprinting at what he could only describe as full speed at him. 

"aw man-" minhyun can't help but whine, looking back in front of him, only to narrowly avoid one of the other obstacles.
