❛ If you die and I live, I’d have nothing. Nobody else that I care about. ❜
CATCHING FIRE (2013) SENTENCE STARTERS accepting
He drags in a breath through his nose, fingers pinching the bridge of it as he tries to force all the anger, confusion, and saddness down into the depths where it all belongs.
“Don’t be stupid, Jackie.” It comes out rougher than he means, laced with the hatred he has at the Captiol right now just....poorly directed at her. He turns to look at her, his face deprived of any emotions but she knew him well enough to notice the way the edges of his eyes watered.
“You’re not going in her place. Do you hear yourself? Volunteering to walk back into that—” He cuts himself off, jaw tightening as both hands come up to rub over his face, pressing his palms into his eyes until it almost hurts.
He forced himself to exhale, slower this time, dragging his hands down his face and letting them fall as he shakes his head. “If I die, you'll survive and live a long, happy, beautiful life.” His voice cracked, just barely noticable. “Because that would be my final wish for you."
He steps closer, not yet touching her because he knew that if he did then his fragile mask of composure would crumble. “If you go in there, if you take her place, then I’m not thinking about winning. I’m not thinking about getting out. I’m thinking about you. Every second.” He wets his lips before pressing them together in a thin line and shaking his head some more. “And that will get us both killed.”
Pleading almost, “This is the only way I can keep you alive. Don’t take that from me.” Finnick cups her face, thumb brushing soothingly over the top of her cheek.
whats the diffrence between lycans and werewolfs?
alright, buckle up buckroos, hold on to your titties, call your parents and tell them you're not coming home for dinner because this is gonna a be a long one. this is the revised version of an older text -
The term lycanthropy, first documented in 1852, refers to a psychological disorder in which an individual develops the delusion of transforming into an animal, most commonly a wolf. This condition is a form of psychosis, characterized by a profound break from reality. While clinical lycanthropy is a well-defined psychiatric ailment, the term is also used in a broader, more fantastical context to describe a physical transformation. Within this fictional framework, lycanthropy can be further classified into different types, primarily distinguished by the nature of the transformation and the cognitive state of the affected individual.
Type A refers to the aforementioned psychological condition, where the transformation is entirely a delusion. Type B, however, is a physical metamorphosis. This type can be further divided into two variations. B1 involves a permanent, partial transformation, such as the characteristically hunched form and patchy fur seen in some fictional depictions. B2 more closely resembles the traditional werewolf but with key differences. These individuals, often called lycans, possess a greater degree of control and cognitive function. Unlike classic werewolves, their transformations are not dictated by the lunar cycle and can be initiated at will. They retain their memories both before and after transforming and typically exhibit less feral behavior.
In contrast, werewolves and other werefolk (e.g., werebears, wererats) are defined by their lack of control. Their transformations are involuntary, often triggered by the full moon. During this process, they lose all cognitive control and have no memory of the events that transpire while in their animalistic state. The metaphorical distinction between these two creatures can be understood by likening a lycan to a nightmare and a werewolf to a night terror. A nightmare, while frightening, is a remembered experience upon waking. A night terror, however, is a more terrifying event in which the victim wakes up in a state of extreme fear but has no memory of the event itself. Similarly, lycans retain memory and control, much like remembering a nightmare, while werewolves lose all recall and control, akin to the terror of a night terror. This fundamental difference in memory and autonomy underscores why these two archetypes, though seemingly similar, are distinct and deserve separate recognition, each with its own unique lore and characteristics. here is the original version with my ramblings and poor grammar- Lycanthropy was a disease discovered in 1852 in which the person affected succumbs to psychosis and believes that they are transforming into an animal, most commonly; a wolf. In the more fantastical sense where lines get even more blurred, lycanthropy is more than an ailment. There are three known types. A, a person who succumbs to psychosis, and my favorite, the B's. the ones where its physical. In the video game residence evil 8 it perfectly shows B1, which is when the person takes on a hunched form, permanently covered in patchy fur. B2 is most commonly mistaken as a werewolf, the key differences is that lycans have more control and cognitive capability. they do not revolve around the lunar cycle, can transform whenever they please, have memory of the events that take place when and when not transformed, and tend to have less feral tendencies. werewolves have no control over when they transform, cannot control themselves when they take their wolfish form, and do not recall the things that happen across forms. additionally, lycans and werefolk can take on the form of any animal, however werefolk can be any animal, werebear, werewolf, and, while lesser known, can be prey animals like wererat. lycans are typically only wolves and in some cases, dogs or coyo. there are different variations of B types, mostly defined by how much cognativity they have, how in control are they? now you might be wondering 'if they can both become the same level of control than how does that define them?' werewolves have a constant state of non-control no matter what. all lycans are different and just like a man can be in-between condom size lycans can be in-between set B types to define their control levels. Essentially, they can be described like nightmares and nightterrors. A werewolf differs from a lycan the same way a nightmare differs from a nightterror, non-respectfully. A night terror differs from a nightmare in that the dreamer will awake and take terror with them back into consciousness. A dreamer remberes what happens in a nightmare but in a nightterror, whilst terror is brought back with, said victim never recalls what happened. Thus, a lycan is like a nightmare and werewolves are nightterrors differing from each other based on fear an memory. vastly different creatures that deserve regoctition separate from one another not because one is better because they are simply different. the same reason we have pride parades, one isn't better than the other, they're just different and deserve their own moment
"I'm recommending Klaus. And wait. Hear me out. I just think maybe if you two get the hate fuck out of your system, things would be a lot better."

"what. did. i. just. hear???" katherine’s entire expression twisted in open, unfiltered disgust, her body recoiling slightly as though the mere suggestion had manifested into something tangible and repulsive in the space between them. "…i’m sorry, what?" she repeated, her tone laced with disbelief, as if she had genuinely hoped she had misheard.
"that is–" she stopped herself, shaking her head faintly. "no. absolutely not. the very idea is revolting," she continued, her nose wrinkling slightly, a visible shudder running through her as though she were trying to physically rid herself of the thought. "there is nothing about klaus that inspires anything remotely close to desire. hatred, yes. survival instinct, certainly. but that?" another scoff. "don’t be absurd."
"he had his chance. once." her lips pressed together for a brief moment before she continued. "a very naive, very foolish katerina once believed he courted her with intention. that he meant something real. that perhaps…that he might even wish to marry her. he didn’t,he played a part. and i learned exactly what that was worth."
"so no," she concluded, her tone final. "there will be no ‘hate fuck.’ there will be no anything. i would sooner tear my own heart out than entertain that kind of… insanity."
"apart from that, i'm also really not into collars and bells around my neck. a fantasy he certainly entertains."

➺ are you angry?
“ Angry? Angry? ” Elijah repeated in disbelief while looking at her, his eyes blown wide. He had given her very specific orders — do not come out until I declare it's safe. But even then Jacqueline had disobeyed him and nearly hurt herself badly. “ Angry doesn't begin to cut it! I'm well aware you're capable of protecting yourself but you don't have to do that when I'm around. Hunters are not average humans, Jacqueline. ”
He dashed towards her, towering over her form with his chest heaving loudly. Elijah guided his gloved hands to her shoulders then and gripped them tightly. The tremble in his fingers was not by chance; Jacqueline had given him a scare, making Elijah realize that he in fact cared far more than he was aware of. “ You cannot risk your life like that. When I have things handled, I mean it. I am capable of keeping you safe. I am. ” He insisted as if trying to convince himself more than her. His fingers flexed around her shoulders, tightening further.
radius. who/what do they reach for first in a crisis ?
stef generally tries to keep to himself when something is wrong, especially if he’s the source of the problem. as someone who generally feels like a burden, he’s going to do whatever he can to protect the people he cares about (and even complete strangers) from any crisis he’s facing.
that said, when he absolutely does need someone to reach for it’s always going to be his big brother. even when they’re at their worst, he knows damon will pull through for him and understand him like probably no one else ever will be able to.
a lot of the time, he doesn’t even need to reach. damon knows him well enough to know when there’s a problem. and lexi is an honorable mention in this category too bc although he won’t necessarily reach for her, she was always good at recognizing there was a problem and calling him out on his shit.
