4: How does your OC behave typically under severe stress?
Lynnette is a lot less level headed than Sylvester. Often under really stressful situations she’ll get really frustrated and start snapping at everything. She can’t handle things if they aren’t going smoothly or according to plan, and she starts making hasty decisions.
15: Is your OC afraid of confrontation or do they seek to lay things down on open?
She’s by far more confrontational. She believes that if there’s ever a problem, it’s best to get it out in the open then just dance around the issue. Plus she’s just naturally more forward; she blames it on her place on the rugby team, but really it’s just her nature.
21: How much of an attention seeker is your OC?
She’s pretty indifferent to attention. She doesn’t actively seek it, but she certainly doesn’t mind receiving it. Unlike Sylvester, however, she doesn’t thrive off the attention of others.
26: Does your OC live in self-denial about anything?
She’s in self-denial about the morality of Sylvester’s work. In her eyes, given that she’s known him since she was very little, she regards his work as what he says it is: art. He tells her hat it’s justified and that these people deserve it, even if she knows that they haven’t committed any major crimes. He’s her only family so she can’t accept the fact that what he does is a very, very bad thing. She’s also in denial that Elvis is dead.
Seeking Solace--something for Sylvester and Lynette? :)
Mmmm I love my awful dynamic duo so ofc
She was only a child when he last saw her.
Bare feet hitting the hard dirt ground, a smile that could split the sky, wide brown eyes that had not seen what the world had yet to show. She had been a streak of light that danced across the earth and he had been the shadow that had followed behind, always close, but never able to experience her joy.
Perhaps it was envy that really drove him to leave the solace of his aunt and uncles home. Each night he would force himself up the stairs as her voice, ever so cheerful, would cry “Bonne nuit, mama! Bonne nuit, papa!”, something that he had lost the privilege of saying. He never said goodnight anyways. It was always a tight smile and a nod before he’d vanish from the room without a trace. Being forgotten – it was something he had become accustomed to since the accident.
When the day came for him to go she had stood at his door and cried. She was 6 then – of course she would cry. Children always responded in the worse ways when something they loved was taken from them. She had grown on him and her name, Lynnette, had passed his lips in the barest of whispers as he had hugged her close. She was the only one he would hug goodbye that day because she was the only one who really deserved it. Too young, too naïve, too blind to what her future would be like. Her wails of his name had fallen on deaf ears as he got into the passenger seat of his uncle’s car with trembling hands that gripped the leather handle of his suitcase. A shield for him.
Don’t look. You won’t like what you see.
It was 6 years before they would come in contact again. It was a simple request that had popped up on his phone. He didn’t know children could even HAVE social media, but then he remembered who his aunt and uncle were, and it didn’t really surprise him. So, he had accepted. Then he had been pulled back into her world of joy, of ridiculous dreams and stupid thoughts, as messages were exchanged, and calls were made, and suddenly he remembered what it was like to feel that light again. He had grown so cold and bitter in the times that he had been gone. Lynnette had not changed at all – although she was a lot more sarcastic in her speech then he remembered.
2 more years, and he was in Gotham now. Raindrops fell fat and heavy against his store window as the gloomy spring weather hung over the city. Sylvester was surprised just how much rain Gotham could get during this season; it was his first spring here, but the weather just seemed so depressing all the time.
Idle thoughts had been dissipated by the sound of the silver bells chiming out. A customer, despite the miserable outdoors. He forced himself upwards and adorned the familiar false smile that he always wore when greeting someone new. They liked it better when he smiled – it balanced out the oddity that was his appearance. If he just stared at them deadpanned, they’d never want to approach, and sales would be pointless.
He did not expect to see who had arrived. Wide brown eyes, a smile that could split the sky, and a sense of mischief that surrounded her. Her name slipped out of his mouth before he could stop it, Lynnette?, and within moments he was out from behind the desk and pulling her into an embrace.
Sylvester Blanc was not an affectionate man. Sylvester Blanc had cut the throats of men and women before without a second thought. Sylvester Blanc simply did not CARE about others.
But she was not the same as the others. She was the cousin that he had helped raise since she was a toddler so he could make an exception in that case. It had been so long as well since that summer day at the home where her wails still rang through his head as a reminder.
2. Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs?
Sylvester ~ He was my first very well developed OC, and I just absolutely adore him. I’m also super hyped to start off the story I got planned with him!!!
3. Have you ever adopted a character or gotten a character from someone else?
No, not yet. I’m more of an admirer then an adopter because I’m always scared that I’ll mess up their ideal of the character if I take over them ^
12. Name an OC that isn’t yours but who you like a lot
Ohhhhhhhh, um, @canadian-riddler robot children are a treat to read about, but the award goes to @missharleenfquinzel Motherducker for the most iconic oc, who I will not forget.
19. Introduce an OC that means a lot to you (and explain why)
I can’t really introduce any, because I’ve introduced all my OC’s that I currently have, but in all honesty I can’t really tell you just one that means a lot because they all mean a lot to me, in their own ways. I love Sylvester because he was my first and most used OC, I love Lynnette because she’s amazing to write and develop and her relationship to Sylvester is pretty iconic, I love Phoebe because she allows me to explore a different route and introduces me to new possibilities, I love Vincent because he’s the morally torn special forces agent who really has to buckle down and make really hard choices, I love Ralph because he’s just a meme in the form of an OC and he’s a great laugh, and I love August because he’s a fascinating character to develop; to look over his past and to analyze the issues that he carries with him through obsessions and desire allow a lot of route for my story.
28. Your most dangerous OC?
August - August is the OC I have that could tear apart a family with a smile and a few words. He doesn’t need to use physical force, or chemicals, or threats to cause a great deal of damage - he just needs to have a persons attention and to speak.
31. Pick one OC of yours and explain what their tumblr blog would be like (what they reblog, layout, anything really)
Ralph Smith would have a blog that is the equivalent of a mess. He would have the pre set free theme, a disorganized tag system, a lot of posts with exclamation points and capitalized letters, private posts about school mixed in with random reblogs ranging from Gilmore Girls to Friends, and his about would simply be ‘the coolest of cool dudes’. His blog is a digital personification of him, p much.
I lacked the moxie to create any OC's for my genre back in the day, so this is inspiring! 21, 27, 31, 42, and 48 please, if you don't mind!
(OFC!!!)
21. Your most artistic OC
The title goes to Sylvester, the perfumer. Can’t really beat out literally turning people to an art form, I guess??
27. Any OCs that were inspired by a certain song?
Nooooot really? I create OC’s and find songs that I match to them, but a fair amount of Lynnettes personality came from french pop songs, and a lot of Augusts came from choral, and Vincent, Phoebe, and Sylvester were all a cluster of various genres I just enjoyed searching!
31. Pick one OC of yours and explain what their tumblr blog would be like (what they reblog, layout, anything really)
Lynnette would be a meme blog, no hesitation. She’d have the little doge animated in the corner, and it would be a colour sceme of white and pastel pink, and then you’d see her posts and it would all be awful memes, but the most in trend. She’d make her own memes too, mostly french ones or memes of Batman while she’s in Gotham, but she’d have the most hilarious tags on all the posts. She’d be pretty great to follow if you need a laugh.
42. Which one of your OCs would be the most interested in Greek gods? Both Sylvester and Phoebe. Phoebe because her father was Greek, so it makes sense to have an interest in her cultural background, and Sylvester because of his passion for the arts - specifically the arts created in the high point of ancient Greeks, and during the renaissance era.
48. OC who is a perfect cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure
Vincent - like please he just wants to do his job as a Detective and put bad guys away, he doesn’t want any involvement in distilling and drug groups or wars.
WHEN I WAS TWELVE I WROTE A NARUTO OC NAMED MEGARA WHO WAS MARRIED TO MADARA AND WAS HOST TO KURAMA BECAUSE HEY WHY NOT AND IT WAS A LEGIT MESS Im
10. Introduce an OC with a complicated design?
Oh christ I don’t know what they mean by complicated here, but if they mean by physical appearance I have this one oc for my Sylvester story I’m writing who has several intricate tattoos and scars along his body that are a pain to both write and draw out and I wanna punch a wall every time I bring him up
20. Do any of your OCs sing? If they sing, care to share more details (headcanon voice, what kind of songs they like etc)?
August - an OC I haven’t formally introduced - and Phoebe, and Sylvester, all sing. August has a very soft voice, like the voice you’d expect to hear from a choir boy or something. His preferences to music are more choral, obviously, or classical in sense. Phoebe has a more raspy, sultry tone about her, but her preference of music lies with traditional italian and greek tunes. I don’t really have headcanon voices established for them, as I haven’t fully divulged time into finding them. Sylvester, well, he sticks to singing songs in his native language rather than trying to sing songs in English, or German, and so on. I have a headcanon voice for him but ya never know, it may change!
30. Which one of your OCs would most likely have a secret stuffed animal collection?
Lynnette. She tries to act all tough, she really does, but she’s still a child and she still really cares for her stuffed rabbit, so no matter what she brings it with her whenever she comes to Gotham for the summer. Even if Sylvester teases her for it.
40. Any fond memories linked to your characters? Feel free to share!
Memories of mine??? Ho boy I don’t really know :,) like I sometimes use my own personal experiences when writing them - like, for Sylvester I used experience from my brief stint in France to describe his childhood, or for Phoebe I used my time in Italy, then for August my time in Germany, and I suppose those were all fond memories! A lot of them involved getting lost and eating far too much food though, ha!
50. Give me the good ol’ OC talk here. Talk about anything you want
Oh geez, I suppose since I’ve mentioned him I’ll use this as a prime opportunity to introduce August. Now, August is the main antagonist of the story I’m writing with Sylvester - kinda like an official intro to him, I guess? Anyway, allow me to begin;
August Richter was born May 3rd,1997 in Bundeswehrkrankenhaus Hospital in Berlin, Germany to an unnamed mother who was declared unfit to raise him. His mother had earned an income by participating in a program known as Verarbeiten Zwei, a genetic modification project funded by a private company. August, after his removal from his mother, was put in the care of a foster home to be held under close observation to see if he was the first potential success to a ‘designer baby’. He was eventually integrated into another family and kept under close observation by the Father, Doctor Joseph Richter. August began to show signs of success as a modified infant - he could easily understand problems and puzzles, proving he was a quick learner with a high intellect, and was fast to distinguish when people were being honest to him. August had a habit of acting out, but ceased this after realizing his father seemed to up the observations whenever he did so.
When August was 9 years old, Sylvester Blanc murdered his parents killer in Paris, France. Five years later Sylvester was a patient under August’s fathers care, for therapy pertaining to issues involving PTSD and his obsessive habits. On December 20th, almost 6 years since Sylvester killed his parents killer, Dr. Richter invited Sylvester into his home for a brief meeting. The meeting ended poorly when tensions escalated after the revelation of Sylvester’s hobby (distilling) and Sylvester lashed out, killing Dr. Richter by hitting him across the head with a candle holder. Sylvester then went on to kill Mrs. Richter as well. He was unaware of August being in the house at the time,as Dr. Richter never mentioned having a child and there were no pictures around, but August witnessed Sylvester leaving the scene and found the bodies first. It was August who coined the term ‘Das Monster’ to the newspapers later on.
After the death of his parents, August was integrated back into foster care and moved to a small fishing town off the coast of the British Isles with a new adopted family. He began to display his ‘abnormalities’ again and his new family became concerned. August picked up small jobs running chop shops and fishing supply stores, but continued to keep track of the patterns of ‘Das Monster’ as he did so. Through this, he learned he had the gift of charisma; he could talk people into doing what he pleased with a smile and a few soft words. When August turned 18 he tracked Sylvester to Siberia, where he was under the pseudonym of ‘The Pale Man’. August made plans to lash out at Sylvester, and used his gift of charisma to rally up enough people in the small town that Sylvester lived on the outskirts of . He utilized his gift of controlling people and began to develop a God Complex (which will later only increase). When they arrived at the cottage Sylvester was in they found it abandoned, save for the faint scent of perfume. August, now driven to the brink, began to furiously hunt Sylvester down again. He went jumping across Europe, following any lead Sylvester might’ve left, before tracking his trail to Gotham. August, now 19, then traveled to Gotham and began to use his gifts of charisma and manipulation once again to obtain information as to who Sylvester is. August eventually pinpointed Sylvester as the owner of the Oleander Perfume Shop, and began to finalize plans to enact his revenge.
this is like fast summary - i got details to sort out rip
*slides in* 2 and 28 for Sylvester, 6 and 15 for Lynette, 11 and 29 for Penelope B)
Sylvester
2. Does your OC easily adapt to changes in life or do they have a hard time getting accustomed?
Sylvester used to have a hard time adapting when he was a kid because his mother kept him on a strict routine, due to his health and condition, but when he started moving around Europe a lot more he became accustomed to quick changes that occur day to day. So now, as a full grown adult, he’s pretty use to things rapidly changing unexpectedly!
28. Is your OC loyal or more prone to taking advantage to people close to them?
He takes advantage of people. He likes to figure out what they can do to benefit him, and then he’ll use that gift to help further him along. He did this with Alexi in order to get complete control of the gang - he used Alexi’s desire to destroy Black Mask against him. The only one he won’t ever take advantage of is Lynnette!
Lynnette
6. Does your OC have an unrealistic view of some area of their life or worldview?
Lynnette believes that the crimes that Sylvester has and is currently committing is justified. It’s a very unhealthy view, but Sylvester has almost integrated her, in a sense, to his kind of lifestyle which in return is forcing her to see crime as good and law enforcement as bad. This view tends to carry on in all aspects of her life. (Seeing as she’s stayed with him for 3 summers, this view is almost cemented in her mind and would take a lot of therapy and assistance for her to realize that the crimes and actions Sylvester is doing is not okay, and is not - in any sense - justifiable). Sylvester is conditioning her to sympathize with him, and he’s aware of it.
15. Is your OC afraid of confrontation or do they seek to lay things out in the open?
Lynnette is a very direct person. If she has a problem with you or senses that you may have a problem with her she won’t hesitate to directly confront you regarding this. If she can, she’ll talk it out with you, but sometimes things need to be handled in a more physical way, and this is when she tends to put her Rugby and Boxing training to use.
(Now I think for this one you meant Phoebe, cause I don’t have an OC named Penelope (yet ;D ) )
11. What makes your OC feel most guilt in their life?
She feels a lot of guilt when it comes to the crimes she commits. The robbing of houses is very minor in Gotham, but she feels really awful, even though it’s the only way for her family to get by (besides her jobs at both The Cafe and working with her mother as a room cleaner in the Gotham Hotel). She also feels a second hand guilt in forcing her family to leave Italy, due to her powers and such. Even though her mother assured her it was the people and not her, she can’t help but feel that if she kept her abilities more under wraps they could still be at home.
29. Is your OC wild/reckless or do they tend to stay on the safe side inside their comfort zone?
Well I wouldn’t call her wild and reckless, but she’s definitely not in the safe zone either. Committing crimes in Gotham is out of her comfort zone, but she does them anyway. She definitely tries to keep a low profile because if she were to get arrested, her family would lose a very valuable income, and possibly their homes/lives. So the most wild thing she does is petty thievery, and other than that she’s a pretty shy and constrained person!
Full Name: LynnetteCarolina Blanc Gender/Sexuality: Female – Unknown (She hasn’t quite solved where herpreferences are herself, being only fourteen) Pronouns: She/Her Ethnicity/Species: Ethiopian Parisian? Birthplace/Birthdate: October 9th, 2002 In Paris, France –in Le Seizeme in the sixteenth arondissementGuilty Pleasures: Watching Rugby tournaments on Sylvester’sLaptop, ‘Experiments’ with his fragrances (she once made a perfume whichreplicated a skunk perfectly, and proceeded to spray it all over Sylvester), andcollecting cheesy tourist items from Gotham including several t-shirts withslogans such as ‘If I were to choose between Trump and Scarecrow, I’d chooseScarecrow’ Phobias: She has a major fear of failure and disappointment, stemming fromher parent’s expectations and her own goal. She also has a fear of the loss offamily, a fear she constantly faces while living with Sylvester, given hiscompulsive behavior and tendency towards crimes. What They Would Be Famous For: Either for being one of the best Rugby playersherself, or for modelling – a trade she’s found herself involved in thanks toSylvester’s connections. She really wants to get into politics as well, soperhaps fame through that! What They Would Get Arrested For: Accessory in Crime, or mischief with theintention of harm, given the fact that her pranks on Sylvester get a bitextreme at times. OC You Ship Them With: She’s fourteen so no one really OC Most Likely To Murder Them: No one could probably even get that far. She’dtackle them to the ground for gods sake!Favorite Movie/Book Genre: She loves documentaries, and those ‘based on atrue story’ films and books that are really hope filling. Like The Blind Side. Shealso loves old style films, such as Gone With The Wind and Casablanca, and sheand Sylvester often marathon these in their free time (her all-time favorite isBreakfast at Tiffany’s though)Least Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: Cheesy romance. She loathes Sylvester’sextensive collection of Rom-Com Books and movies. Talents and/or Powers: She’s very talented at sports and activities thatrequire flexibility. She’s also talented when it comes to business, and she’svery good at driving, a trait she learned from having to be Sylvester’s getawaydriver all the time. She’s also quite talented when it comes to speaking inpublic and is a charismatic person, which Sylvester sort of monopolizes off of.Why Someone Might Love Them: She’s very protective, and her sense of humoris quick to cheer you up whenever you’re down. She’s willing to stop and listento you if something is wrong, and provide some advice that might help. She won’tlet herself be beat down or bullied by anyone, and is more than happy to defendthose she cares for as well. Plus she’s absolutely adorable with her braids andcheeky smirk. Why Someone Might Hate Them: She can get a bit aggressive at times, a traitwhich is great for Rugby but awful for friendship. Her pranks are dangerous, she argues a lot, she’s very picky when it comes to what she’ll wear and eat,and she has a habit of speaking her mind – especially when she really shouldn’t. How They Change: She has to come to learn that not everything is a fight, and sometimes she needs to relax and go with the flow. Also, not everyoneenjoys pranks or teasing, and some people are quite sensitive. Why You Love Them: Again, she’s one of the OC’s I’ve put a lot of thoughtinto. I love the dynamic she has with Sylvester, with them being cousins andall, and how well she can adjust to being abruptly carted from one area toanother. I also love how protective she is, and how she really won’t allowherself to be talked down by anyone, a trait that’s a necessity for someonelike herself in a world like today.
Ok ok ok so I’ve mentioned her like a bazillion times but I’venever like fully introduced her, so we gonna talk about Lynnette Blanc
Basically, Lynnette Blanc is the 13 year old cousin of Sylvester, who comes over from Paris during the summers to stay with him.
So we’re gonna hit up some backstory here.
So her mother’s name is Azmera, and she originates fromEthiopia. She traveled to Paris to attend a school for business, where she metAlastair, who was Sylvester’s uncle at the time. They hit it off pretty great, and soon were engaged. Things happened, and Lynnette was born. She was about 7when the deaths of Sylvester’s parents occurred, along with his small murderspree he ran. Sylvester managed to bsenough to his Aunt and Uncle for reasons why he was leaving Paris so abruptly, hence why he can still have Lynnette over in the summers. Azmera is the CEO of a company that’s workingin the improvement of prosthetics and disability assistance, while Alastair isa high demand lawyer, hence why Lynnette can afford to travel by plane toAmerica. It’s also because of these high demand jobs that she spends hersummers with Sylvester. Besides helpingrun his shop, she helps with his criminal activities as well. She’s against afew of the things he does, but when it comes to get away driving she’s the goto, due to Sylvester’s fear of driving.
Lynnette’s personality is a combination. She likes to get inarguments (especially with Sylvester) , but she’s extremely protective of theones she cares for. She’s compassionate, and won’t hesitate to comfort if you’refeeling down. She’s also pretty nonchalant about problematic things, likeshattered glasses and such. She’ll often just shrug off problems and say she’lldeal with it later on. She’s also asuper picky eater, which causes many problems with her parents and Sylvester, since all three are the type to just eat whatever is around.
Appearance wise, she has a darker complexion, which comesfrom her mother. She has dark curly hairwhich she keeps in braids most of the time, and green eyes. She also has asplash of freckles that go across her nose and cheeks. She’s pretty short (5’1)but fit for her age due to being on various sports teams during the schoolyear. She’s extremely confidant in her appearance.
