God bless, I wish I could have said your piece on the whitewashing thing. I have the term blacklisted anymore because I'm just tired of seeing the same shit over and over.

That sentiment I understand. I waited until I just couldn’t deal with the misinformation and bullshittery anymore. I think crossing the line for me was using the shit references in order change the actual work of art into something that didn’t accurately reflect how he should look in the room. At best, saarebitch’s edit actually illustrated a good attempt at change, at worst, all the values and shading in his skin were removed by a poorly overlayed top layer used only to wash him darker than he actually is. I already deal with multiple kinds of fetishization revolving around Fenris, and I think I’m sick of it at this point. I doubt I’ll keep quiet if I see posts doing it that need advice.

30:A song that reminds you of yourself

Oh geez, this is really hard. There isn’t a song that I have that I can think of that really encapsulates how I feel right now, but one of my biggest flaws until recently was my inability to make decisions that I didn’t instantly regret. It’s a drawback to thinking in shades of grey, you’re rarely ever satisfied with anything that you decide to do. This song encapsulates that well.

Fenris had been right about one thing; Kirkwall was no place for a mage.

Simply upon entering through the gates, Solas could already feel the looks of worried citizens as he passed by. Templars and city guard alike attempted to control their twitchy sword hands out of the corner of his eye, and their paranoia was about what he had anticipated. He briefly considered looking for a set of Circle robes before deciding that it would do him little good to attempt to blend in in such a fashion. Even if he acted the part, it would stand to reason that Kirkwall kept a very thorough attention on the mages that frequented the city. He would likely only draw more suspicion to himself by acting that way.

Luckily for him, the vendors in the marketplace were close to the entrance he had used to come into the city, and they were not particular about his race nor magical abilities. He had lifted coin from the few bandits he had to take down to get here, and it looked to be enough for at least a staff. He was grateful to have had the good fortune to meet Fenris when he had. The rest, food, and company where well worth stopping for, and he had been rather reasonable, even when they disagreed with one another. He knew better than to anticipate such personalities from the city proper, however. He had observed enough from the Fade to know what to expect, and his few interactions so far had proven him correct. Save for Fenris, but he had a peculiar set of circumstances, after all. “You probably wanna go to Low Town if you want more supplies,” the dwarven merchant suggested when he inquired after basic necessities. “Yer well spoken and all, but being a mage and an elf, I doubt many people here in High Town will pay you much mind.” Solas frowned. Speaking of expectations being met... “I suppose I can do little else,” he replied, affixing his new staff in a secure position. “Thank you very much. I will do as you suggest.” After receiving a brief set of instructions as to where to go, he turned to make his way towards Low Town, already steeling himself for the kind of people that would exist in a part of a city that went by that name. At least the labels in Kirkwall were meaningful, he reasoned.

My favorite moment for Solas is the first time he’s accepted as a person worthy of respect and challenged by that same person, who is someone he has grown to respect as well.

The Inquisitor can be many things to Solas, but for me they always hold respect for one another, and the Inquisitor is the first time Solas was truly challenged in both his perceptions and his beliefs. He always professes being open to changing his mind, and he is, but an Inquisitor, or indeed if he manages to fall in love with anyone, is the first time the foundation of his experiences in Thedas are truly shaken to their core, and it forces him to re-evaluate and ascertain his own motives and courage for the actions he has planned to do, and now has to way new consequences against it. It’s a big character step for him, even if it’s one that ultimately doesn’t sway his opinion.

Although he’d roll his eyes at the notion, the temptation to make wolf jokes is pretty difficult to ignore, if I’m being honest. That being said, absolutely. Although he’d prefer to do the biting, teeth against skin are definitely a turn on. Although drawing blood would go a little far, he likes biting as an extension of both holding a person in place and claiming them, at least in the moment.
