Of course there was. Whether it be his off putting attitude or the sudden relationship he had with Georgia, there was something about Neil that rubbed Phillip the wrong way. Voicing that opinion, however, was an entirely different affair of it’s own.
“Me?” Phillip scratched his head, averting his eyes completely. “I… I can’t really think of somebody. Sorry.”

Memories of someone who was long gone came up immediately. The warmth of a calloused hand from many years spent at the kitchen, the serious yet gentle voice warning him of the hot stove nearby. What he’d do to have them all back, even for one single day.
“Very,” Raeger stated quietly, eyes filled with a deeply rooted sadness that contrasted against the tight smile he wore. “Sometimes, it makes me wonder if there was ever something I could’ve done to change that. But, nothing is gained from dwelling on what ifs either. All I know is that I have to live on the best I can without holding back, to avoid any of those regrets from happening again.”
It was almost laughable, really, how empty of a promise that was coming from him.

“Sonja,” the name rolled off his tongue easily, but realizing how that could be misinterpreted, Phillip waved a hand defensively. “Not in a weird way or anything! I definitely think she’s a capable woman on her own and all that. She just… gives off that kind of vibe, y'know?”
He sighed. “… I’m not helping my case here, am I?”

"That’s a good question,” Raeger chuckled. “Well, it’s less of a matter of wanting but rather if I could handle a relationship on top of my work. It’d be pretty irresponsible to dive into one if I can’t even see them regularly, after all.” That was the prime reason why most of his past relationships had fallen apart, anyways.
“But putting that aside, would I still want to get married someday? I’d say yes,” he admitted, looking slightly embarrassed. “I’ve never thought about it seriously when I was younger, but the older I’ve gotten, the more I find that I want to have someone to settle down with, I guess.“
He shrugged his shoulders. “I’ve got plenty of time left either way, so I’m content with letting fate run its course.”

“Hate is a pretty strong word, isn’t it? There’s honestly no names that come to mind, and I’d rather let go of past grudges than become a spiteful person.”
“But if there’s anyone out there I really hate, it’s the people who purposely hurt others for the sake of benefiting themselves. Once they cross that line, then it’s not worth trying to find reasons to sympathize with them anymore.”

“A best friend? That’s a little tough, considering I have several,” Raeger couldn’t help but smile warmly at the thought of a certain trio of dorks.
“Agate, Fritz, and Lillie have all been my friends since childhood, and to this day, they remain as my closest yet. It wouldn’t be much of a reach to say they’re practically family to me, even. When you find people who know you inside and out like that, it’s hard to find something else that could compare.”

Phillip scratched at the back of his head with a troubled expression. “Man, I really don’t like choosing one friend over another to begin with. At the end of the day, I’d do anything to keep them all happy, as cheesy as a promise like that may sound."
"That being said,” a sheepish smile appeared on the farmer’s face, “if I had to give an award to somebody who’s put up with me the most, then it’d definitely have to go to Kam. We might have our differences, but the guy has dealt with my crap more than anyone else without calling me a pain even once. And trust me, that’s a pretty huge feat to accomplish when I’ve had too much to drink."
He chuckled softly. "Honestly, he takes care of me more than I do myself, all while managing to be one of the best people I’ve ever met. How I ever got someone like him to put up with all my antics, I’ll never know."
