I had begun to understand that being Irish implies a willingness to go too far, to risk it all- which includes the risk of making fools of ourselves. The hope of the indomitable Irishry is that if we're foolish, it will be on an impressive scale.

I certainly feel like this is true of myself, if my behavior under the influence is any indicator.  Standing on a table and rapping whilst my friends applaud seems to fall squarely into the category of making a fool of myself on an impressive scale (for one thing, I'm 6'4").  Willingness to go too far?  Absolutely.
