Break-up Progression

In 2016

I fell in love with you

After my heart was broken.

I wasn't expecting anything to happen,

But you have given me wonderful memories.

In 2017

I loved you and started to think

You were my one.

I thought we could grow old and grey

Because you made me laugh and feel loved.

We were on fire.

But there was conflict with the love.

There was fire.

In 2018

I realized that no matter how much I love you,

I need to let you go.

We love each other but I know now

I cant grow old with you.

Between the laughter and love

And the fights and tears,

I know we are better for someone else.

Our love story was miraculous.

Our love story was beautiful.

Our love story was unique.

Our love story was ours.

And I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Storm Birds

Sometimes i feel like Life is crumbling apart. Like an earthquake struck, And my walls are shaking. My beams are growing weary Of the fight ahead. They hold strong and true, but Snap One broke. The calm after the storm Stays for a while more. Your words are soothing like The sounds of birds rejoicing That the fight is finally over. But the creaky sound starts soft again. Louder and louder it comes Snap Another support beam falls. There’s only so much one can say To sooth the pain. All i want is to feel free, To fly like the rejoicing birds In the wake of the storm. Maybe one day I’ll be strong enough, To withstand the pain Or fly away.

So months later I finally understand

That what we had was toxic. I shouldn't have stayed for 2.5 years. I gave so much. I was cornered into giving myself away. Constantly.

You were unhealthy. You hurt me. You really, really hurt me. I never knew until I was talking to someone about what you would do to me and they HUGGED me and said they were so happy I got out when I did.

But I got out too late. I should have fought for myself. But how can you fight for someone you didnt love?

I'm on the road to loving me. I'm in a better place and I sure as shit will never let a man do that to me again.

I'm tired of always saying "it wasn't always bad" because a partner that would do what you did is NOT a partner. They are a controller. You want a woman you can control and honey, I come from a long line of strong, independent women.

I am my OWN woman.

Blessed to know him. Even more blessed to have the ability to love him. Blessed to be in total, utter love with my best friend. This man is kind, loving, hilarious, God-fearing, and everything i know i will ever need in a partner.

Throwback picture to a picture of us hiking up to Flat Rock. It was one of the hardest trails I’ve done in a while. It doesnt help im not in the better shape i use to be before college.. but i honestly would have given up half way if this guy didnt push me to do it! Healthy relationships are ones where you push each other to grow, learn, and conquer obstacles together. And im so glad i finally have a relationship like the great one we built together. He is my rock, my best friend, and my one and only. So glad hes finally going to be home tomorrow. I’ve missed my goober 💜💜💜

So happy that on April 29, 2016 i met my best friend. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for being my rock when i need it. Thank you for protecting me. Thank you for always being there. You are the love of my life. I am so happy God gave me you. I can't wait to spend forever with you. 💜😘
